  1. I'd like to see Bdale and Niceville. Would be a very off-brand but fresh title game.
  2. You don't have to justify Osceola football to anyone. It stands on its own and is very good.
  3. Osceola has the same amount of titles as Vero. 1. Osceola has been to the finals at least 4 other times. Vero has one finals appearance and won.
  4. All those teams were juggernauts. What a great year!
  5. Hillsborough County still has multiple competitive teams but there is no real middle ground outside of a few teams. You're either very good or very bad. Way things broke this year. I'm lumping in how teams did regardless of class. Private schools have asterisk. Contenders to Very Good in their class: B-Dale Armwood Tech Gaither *Jesuit *TC *Berkeley Hillsborough Newsome *Seffner Christian Middle of the Road: Chamberlain Plant City Jefferson Wharton Steinbrenner Sumner *CDS *Cambridge Not Good: Plant Robinson (by end of year due to attrition after good start) Alonso Blake Middleton Spoto Sickles Leto Strawberry Crest Brandon Riverview Durant East Bay King Lennard
  6. Tampa Hillsborough never won State in the playoff era. Lots of playoff appearances and one Finals appearance, but no title. Tampa Robinson, although an up and down program historically, has been to the finals twice and the Semis a few times but fallen short.
  7. I like Minneola's chances against St. Augustine and Central. I say Central because although Palmetto is a very good squad, I don' think they match up well with Central this year compared to their team last year. Palmetto is physical. They have a big QB, a good sized O-line, and a RB with great, great balance. But their passing game was thoroughly unimpressive against Hillsborough (a very poor man's version of Central's defense). Palmetto beat Hillsborough with physical play in a very close game. But this plays right into Central's style. Very few teams in the country can simply out-physical Central. Last year Palmetto kept Central off balance with a very effective short passing game and balanced that with QB runs and some tough runs from their backs. I don't think Palmetto has enough of a passing game this year to make Central respect it. QB runs and the RBs looking to break plays for yardage just isn't going to be effective against Central. Minneola (if they get past the Jackets) has a pretty dynamic offense. So they can likely put up some points against Central's always dominant defense. They held a very good and balanced Gaither offense to 14, so if they can hold Central to 21 or under, they could have a puncher's chance.
  8. B-Dale, to have a shot, has to force some turnovers. STA is too talented on both sides for B-Dale to think they will match them score for score or stop for stop. They will need at least 3 turnovers to have a shot and have to play mistake free. Tall task.
  9. Gaither was undefeated as well going into the Minneola game with a win over Armwood. Minneola had a loss to Seminole (no shame there). I expected more out of Gaither on the road.
  10. Good for Hawthorne!! Madison should play in their real class.
  11. Thought this would be a better game. Berkeley Prep almost knocked off Chaminade. That was a great game. 23-21.
  12. Southeast goes to the Semis if they beat Lake Gibson at home on Friday. They gave Plant a good game at SE in 2008.
  13. True, but recent history shows us that when Miami is punched in the gut, they fold. They haven't really played anybody with the ability to step on their throat and keep them down, but they will. I think they end up with at least two losses this year.
  14. Until the failed James Blackman experience ends, it will get worse. Norvell needs to clean house. Start Rodemaker or Purdy. Who cares at this point? We know they can't win with him. We don't know about the others. Jordan Travis isn't really a qb unless you are going to run option or rpo only, but he is a nice weapon to have. Just not as a starting qb.
  15. 7A finals are already set. Edgewater vs. STA rematch. Armwood is decent, but not great by any stretch.
  16. Pretty sure we all wear masks everyday when we go out. I wear them in and out of my office. Not in my office bc we are down to 6 people in our suite and we all have offices or large cubicles separated by a good amount of space.
  17. Those schools that don't get fans are not affected. But I find it hard to believe that kids who have been pent up for 6 months would not want to sit in the Friday night air with their friends cheering on their school.
  18. Another bad decision. Only a few family members of players, cheerleaders, and band members. I could see some limitations on crowd size, but they aren't even allowing regular students to attend. SDHC is a steaming pile of sh@#.
  19. Bottom line is that the state is clearly better with S Fla then without S. FLA., so let's hope they get moving.
  20. S. Fla. needs to get their shit together and start their season. This disease is bad for us old, fat phux. Young kids are good 99.95 % of the time. Just wear masks and socially distance if you are kid who interacts with at risk people. And high risk people should be wearing masks in public.
  21. I'd still try to schedule them. Post-Weiner Plant had a lot of staters transfer to greener pastures. Like with any rebuild, it will be a rough stretch for PHS until the new staff gets a system in place and buy in from everyone.
