  1. I don't have my records in front of me, but I think Lakeland's most lopsided loss with Castle as coach is probably the '08 state championship game to STA. I'd have to verify with the records I have.
  2. The actual game on the field is almost a side note to the intrigue in this matchup....
  3. It’s not the same Ridge team from 2-3 years ago, but this is a good win for GJ. I don’t see them competing with Osceola, but it could help them get into a playoff spot. Lakeland and GJ should both head into the 10/5 matchup undefeated. Should provide some intrigue for the rivalry.
  4. Unfortunately, they have not been able to keep a coach around. I thought they would get some stability with Jason Butler ( a Bartow alum) about 6 years ago. But he bolted after a year and it’s been a revolving door ever since.
  5. Not to detract from the thread....but....I think Lakeland had a little bit to do with it. Definitely rooting for Apopka to keep winning.
  6. Nice to see Jenkins winning. It helps Lakeland out points-wise. But, it will be interesting to see how they do against a little tougher competition. So far they have played Mulberry, Bartow & Lake Region. They have a quality coach, but they have to start scheduling a bit tougher to go anywhere. Those teams are not going to prepare them for going up against Lakeland and Osceola.
  7. Lakeland is a better team this year. QB is still learning the offense, but he gives them the dual threat they haven’t had in the last 3 years or so. Lakeland was without their top O-Lineman tonight (Deyavie Hammond), and that showed a bit. The one area of concern I have is the corners. We have talent there, but they are consistently getting beat. With Lakeland, it always has been and always will be about discipline. Lakeland has Apopka stopped on the first drive and then had 12 men on the field for the punt. Resulted in a 1st down and Apopka continued the drive and eventually scored. Those are the types of issues that Lakeland historically has. Bad penalties at the wrong time. If they can cut that out, they’ll be fine.
  8. Since 2009, I believe Lakeland has met up with Osceola or Plant every year. Beat Osceola in 2011 and Plant in 2015, but those were the knockout punches for Lakeland every other year.
  9. Lakeland/Plant is becoming quite a playoff rivalry. 5 meetings in the last 10 years.

  11. The Manatee youtube feeds haven't been the greatest this season. Palmetto has it up on their Youtube as well.
  12. Lakeland/Cooper City Need to get out of this game healthy with Apopka coming up next week.
  13. Only question mark I see on defense is the corners. But Castle will adjust that. Both lines (D & O) are pretty solid, especially with Hammond back. Summerall just started practicing this week, but played well against Manatee. He’ll get even better when he Learns more of the defense. The right side of the O-Line could resemble 05-06 Pouncey line. If Demarcus Bowman gets a hole, he’s gone. Kid just has blazing speed. And sees the field so well. I think he had around 250+ yds & 3 TDs last night. Lakeland is loaded with weapons. Last few years it was strictly skilled positions. This year its everywhere. As always with Lakeland, it’s discipline and not playing down to your opponent.
  14. Hammond is back at Lakeland for his senior year. He wanted to come back home and get a chance to play for a state championship.
  15. Yep. Both Lakeland and Manatee have full games up from the previous year.
  16. They both usually leave the feed up.
  17. This game was cancelled last year due to rain. Hopefully the weather holds out this year. Of the records I can find, Manatee leads the series 18-16. During the Bill Castle era, Manatee leads the series 11-6. The last meeting was a 21-9 Lakeland win in 2000. 18. Hey, that's my Youtube video. I also have the '91 & '92 Southeast/Sarasota Riverview games on there as well. 1991 - Riverview came in ranked #1 in 5A, Southeast #2 in 4A. In overtime, Southeast stops Shawn Bane at the goal-line on a two point conversion attempt to take a 21-20 win. 1992 - Southeast scores a late TD to win 19-18.
  19. Will be at Lakeland/Manatee. Hopefully the weather holds out this year and we get more that 3 minutes of game time.
  20. Lakeland - 43 East Bay - 0 Lakeland played with a freshman QB from mid way through the 2nd quarter through the end.
  21. Shawn Bane was a beast.....but just couldn't stay out of trouble.
  22. According to Manatee's website, they are playing the North Miami Pioneers tomorrow night @ Manatee.
  23. Only ones I’m really familiar with are Ski McWilliams (QB), and Lloyd Summerall (DE). Hammond is returning from IMG, but played his Freshman and Sophomore years at Lakeland. There are about 6 seniors this year who have been on Varsity since freshman year. So, this is a heavy “homegrown” senior class for Lakeland this year.
  24. 4-star OL Deyavie Hammond (2019) transferred back to Lakeland. He was at IMG last year.
