    23k?

Well i guess it don't matter where it is and matters more who it is

Yes, I was there. There was a huge crowd at that game. Same thing with the MNW vs Boone game in Orlando. Among Orlando area teams, Boone, Brantley, Apopka, Timber Creek and West Orange draw especially well when they are strong. Seminole High also draws well.

MNW good fan base and i think that game had 10k by itself

Pahokee and Trinity Catholic both have good fan bases

Lakeland i beilive has good fan base

Plant has rabid fan base and i beilive they usually bring a good crowd

I think Nease usually brings a solid crowd

Pine Forest from panhandle Which might have some of best fan bases in state

    My point?

It could have been have been south Florida, Orlando, Tampa, Tallahassee, or Gainesville, that year would have had good numbers because they had a good number of loyal fan bases making finals

MNW vs Brantley had 23k. The Bulls probably had 15k of that total. Brantley traveled well, too. The following year in Orlando, MNW vs Boone had over 21k. Boone being five miles from the Citrus Bowl helped. But those two games are 1 and 2, respectively in all time game attendance.

8A state game will be packed due to Dr. Phillips being in Orlando

It will be a good crowd. But DP is not the biggest draw in Orlando. I think MNW last night brought a crowd at least as large as Phillips will bring.

Raines deserved the win. It wasn't the refs. The flags were thrown nut against both teams. Both teams played their asses off. Brandon Marshall had to be the MVP. Hope he is ok... look forward to seeing him play on Saturdays. Their QB was good too. We had some dropped passes and a fumble in the end zone. Have to hand it to Raines defense. They all but shut down the run.

It was an exciting game. Well the price for admission. Wilks should have let Alex try to the it with a FG. He did make a 47 harder earlier and was hitting them from 50 in warm ups.

No complaints. See you next year.

A fair assessment based on what I saw. The two teams were about equal, but Raines made enough plays to pull the win out.

Callahan wanted DAvis to be the OC since he was on Campus and pushed CT out.  I don't think their friendship was ever repaired.

Sorry it went that way. He seemed like a decent guy.

Actually that had nothing to do with it... They still do the same stuff.  It was when they lost OC Chris Taylor that they haven't been able to top the Miami programs.

This years team is better than the last team they had that beat Central in the ineligiblebowl but I don't know if that means they can beat MNW... Different beast down there.

EC, what happened to Chris Taylor, AKA, Armwood Fan? Is he still in coaching?

Having AP voters decide would be an awful idea and I'll explain why:

When I worked as a sports reporter in TX, I was an AP voter for HS football. I wasn't in a major metro (Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio). But everyone tries to squeeze some teams from their area in with some votes. But Texas is such a big state that it's guaranteed you haven't seen enough teams to have an informed vote on who the top 10 is in every single class. A lot of times you just end up going with who you see most other ppl are voting for or how the voting went the prior week. You may have the best 10 teams in a class, but you may be missing somebody bc they're 8 hours away in West TX or something.

Florida isn't that big, but to relate it to here, you'd be asking voters from the Panhandle to determine who the best teams in South Florida are, SW Gulf Coast voters to do the same for Jacksonville/Daytona Beach schools. Chances are they haven't even seen YouTube highlights of most of these teams.

There's no perfect system for the playoffs but in my opinion, a BCS style system is way less perfect than what we have now.

That goes without saying. I am not sure where he got his idea from, but it's terrible!

Link is a little old, but its story has not changed. From South Florida, Northwestern is by far the biggest draw and most likely to travel well. Central draws decent crowds but does not compare to MNW. From Tally, Lincoln travels well.

In Orlando, Apopka, Seminole, Boone, Timber Creek, Oviedo, Lake Brantley and West Orange and maybe Dr. Phillips would be most likely to draw big crowds. Most other Orlando area teams do not have big fan bases. If Jones made the title game, as Orlando's oldest and only surviving historically black school with decades of existence, they may also draw a big crowd.

Although Tampa is a short drive away, the Tampa area teams have usually not traveled well to Orlando. I believe Mainland would travel well if they made the title game.

6A will have the biggest crowd barring weather unless armwood doesn't travel... NW have more people than that their rival games.. barring rain should easily be over 10k whenever NW is at state. Especially this year since its been a minute.

MNW always travels well regardless of where the game is. Unfortunately, Armwood does not travel well which I find surprising as they are only about an hour away from the Citrus Bowl. Northwestern may bring upwards of 7000 while Armwood would do well to bring more than 1000 to this game.

Tournament of Champions would be cool but only issue is we likely would then drop from the post season oos bowl if we were to do that

Otherwise it may end up with 17 games played plus preseason classic which would have us playing as many games as Texas schools play

True. We would have to decide what is more important. I do think  tournament of champions would be cool, though, and would provide an opportunity to see games that otherwise will never be played.

Weather will be a factor for sure.

I'm thinking more of a 5000 total fan base. Its a decent travel for Venice to make that drive. A lot of fans are of the older generation and may not make that trip.

The town in general is in a buzz after Friday night. Hard to say but those who don't come will be watching a live stream.

I hope they come. It has been a long time since Venice was in a State Title game. They won it all in spectacular fashion in 2000.

8500 for that 7A game would be impressive. Venice usually travels well. I hope they make the trip on Sat.

You should have a good crowd from both teams.

    Guesses on attendance...

1A: 3,400 (Madison will bring the house)
    2A: 1,200
3A: 1,400 (A lot less than last year due to Oxbridge having few to no alumni)
4A: 5,000 (Raines and Cocoa will bring a crowd)
5A: 4,000 (Baker County will bring a nice crowd)
6A: 7,500 (MNW usually brings a good crowd)
7A: 8,500 (Bartram's $$$ and Venice should be best crowd of the week, even though early on Saturday)
8A: 7,000 (Atlantic has the history, but I don't trust Palm Beach schools to travel)
    ---------------

    38,000 Total

This would put the total as one of the highest since they went to Orlando.

Pretty good estimates. I do think the 8A game may rival the 7A game for most attendance. Otherwise, everything else seems spot on.

    MNW by 14

I can't see armwood scoring more than 10 against MNW

I'm thinking maybe 21-7 type of score

Sounds about right and like the most likely result.

Can Armwood get over the hump this year?  Or will MNW keep rolling?

I have no earthly idea. I picked Armwood in the competition just because I need to catch up. But I suspect MNW wins the game. But this is based solely on a tougher schedule as the two teams did not have common opponents or anything else to go by.

Did not forget my picks this past week.  The entry closed and locked nearly 8 hours before the first game at noon.  Every other week this year if I am not mistaken,  and  I thought it was even  initially stated that the weekly contest would close 1-2 hours before kick-off of all games listed.   For example , see State Championship time of closing this week.   For whatever reason it locked significantly earlier then usual last week....

    It's all good though.

Rigged! Columbia Fan rigged the tourney!! !
