Of course it is! I think Pipe excluded them because the Orlando Sentinel no longer covers them when they ceded the area to Florida Today. If you include Brevard in his rankings, as he acknowledged, the top ten changes significantly as at least three and possibly up to five Brevard teams would replace teams he had in the list.

Makes sense. The 3 teams I would add are Rockledge, Cocoa, and Viera. With Eau Gallie as a dark horse.

I think Rockledge started slipping a little when Coach Wood left.  His Raider teams were unbelievably talented and physical.  Ran the Wing-T to perfection.  Had about five plays.....but no one could stop them.  I am not sure of his complete name, but they has a Defensive End named (Carlisle #3) ....could have been the most dominating player I have ever seen.  Wood retired about the same time ODOM showed back up at Cocoa.... Titusville, and Astronaut also felt the change.

He stepped down from head coach and went on to coach the O-Line. Coach Pat Lusk kept the tradition going but the Rock wasn't ready for a complete change when it came to working with their talent. Still ran the same plays. Even when I played there from 04-08 when Cocoa won their first championship.

At #4 we have Clearwater Central Catholic, which is 44-5 over the past 4 seasons.  That is an impressive 90% winning percentage.  The Marauders have lost only 1 regular season game in 4 years!  But they have been stopped cold in their tracks in the playoffs by some other private school powerhouses.

    Who beat them?

    Chaminade-Madonna(2018 & 2017)

    Tampa Catholic(2016)

    Melbourne CC(2016)

    American Heritage Delray(2015)

    That MCC game was crazy.

That would be a good thing. We are adjoining counties and there is no real barrier that should prevent scheduling some good matchups.

Yea I was hoping Cocoa and Dr.Phillips were gonna turn their spring series into a regular season thing. Rockledge has played West Orange lately. Maybe there could be a tripleheader Cocoa, Rockledge, Viera vs Apopka, Dr Phillips and West Orange or Jones

Have a rock solid defense AND video game offense and then ya'll never have to worry. LOL

The Brevard heavyweights will definitely be challenged this season and they play each other too. And they all play OOS too. Cocoa season opener against Viera and finale against Rockledge. Cocoa also plays an always feisty Heritage Palm Bay. Also Rockledge is playing 2 Georgia teams this season but haven't seen any official talks about their schedule yet either.

Well you got to admit, there's not much difference between a Raider and a Pirate. So, I am sure the former pirates are comfortable in their new home.

That's so true. My junior year at Rockledge when they updated the Raider logo we had the same exact mascot just a slight color change lol. Rockledge did get majority of Palm Bay's playmakers this off-season. They already had Palm Bay's best playmaker in Tennison.

They got a long way to go....but I agree they can get there  For some perspective, their 08 title team gave up 12 points per game, on average, during the regular season.  This past year, they gave up 27.  Lots of room to tighten up.

That's true but if the run was stopped for the 08 and 09 teams then those games would come down to the wire. Which is the main reason why their defenses were so rock solid. Especially that 08 playoff run. Multiple 1 point wins.

Cocoa's defense of years past was very impressive.  I hope the change in offensive scheme (and excitement associated with it) doesn''t cause some to lose focus on what has been its bread and butter.  Honestly, it has been surprising to see them give up so many points of late.  Guess those defenses of years past spoiled me.

I agree. Biggest surprise score wise was the Treasure Coast game. But when their offense is going they can put up videogame numbers. I think the defense will be better this season. Plus their offense prepares them well for what they will see from most offenses.
