So Osceola returning Gunner, arguably the best offensive line in the state + an extremely versatile running back in Taeivon Swint just suddenly means nothing? They’re going to be extremely tough to stop in the playoffs. The Kowboys should be favored until proven otherwise.

Lakeland and Venice played for it all this past season and will be the favorite in 4S. The Swint kid is a decent back, but outside of him they are unproven.

They are definitely one of the top 8 teams in the region and no one wants to play them first round.  This reminds me a little of Booker T several years ago when they missed the playoffs because they had a brutal schedule.  Treasure Coast needs to realize they are not IMG and schedule something a little more reasonable.  I commend them for not being scared but you don't have to be scared to take an ass whooping.

I've heard that said before! LOL

i hear over the weekend that 3 orange county schools dont have their helmets back from Riddell, that another had to send half their helmets back and several havent recieved their order back yet?

hard to practice spring ball with 30 kids standing on the side with no helmets...maybe they will share them each series, hopefully not the mouthpieces tho.  lol

    what a mess

We received an email from Riddell talking about delays in helmets being returned. Fortunately all of ours are back. Also its an 8-10 week delay on receiving new helmets if you ordered them.

I did see Osceola commented on our football Twitter account so maybe that was where the part of Osceola reaching out came from

But I do know the game fell through in 2019 because that was at the 11th hour, I think it had something to do with either us or Osceola accidentally mixing up who was hosting and traveling and it led to it falling though

I would love to see Columbia play Osceola and this year would have been a good year with 2 4* defenders and a 3* WR all being seniors for Columbia but I hope they play again at some point since we haven't played in the modern era

I think next cycle someone from one of the teams just needs to reach out early before they start locking down their dates and maybe they can make something happen

Yes I saw their post and responded but no one ever responded back. Would have loved to play them, travel time means nothing...I do remember the 2019 situation, I don't remember why it fell through. Mainland saw my message on Twitter about week 9 and contacted me so we agreed to play. Maybe next cycle we can play Columbia.

    Why did that fall through?

No one on the Osceola staff has had contact with anyone from Columbia, currently looking for a Week 3 road game.

Hey @Ray IcazaI emailed Peacock and told him that Osceola might need a week 3. He wrote me back and said he’s trying to work out a deal to have STA come play Venice in week 3. He said he might try to schedule a game against Osceola for week 6. Would that work?

Osceola plays St Cloud Week 3, Week 6 is a District Week. We have 5 non-district games scheduled, waiting on district assignments to complete the schedule.

Looks like it has a great chance of passing.  I'm not a fan of it and think it's dumb.  Just because a team is in a metro area doesn't mean they have an advantage.  There are tons of metro schools that suck.  Only way to do this right is and make it competitive is to move people up and down based off performance.  This will be another failed attempt by the FHSAA to fix the problem.

Wow, didn't think it would go through when it was presented at the FACA. I did hear a lot of coaches speaking favorably about it. Guess I'm gonna have to get use to a suburban lifestyle LOL

So, "they lost to Winter Park 20-14 and had the ball at the 1 yard line"; coming close usually only counts in horse shoes and hand grenade throwing. A loss is a loss. Osceola finished 3-2 at the UCF 7v7; you're happy with that performance? If "they don't put much stock in touch football", why were they playing in the UCF 7v7; nothing else to do that day? I may be wrong, but it seems that these kids would be trying to impress the folks at UCF in hopes of gaining some positive exposure. I don't doubt they'll be ready to play football when the season starts; I just don't think they'll beat West Orange.

Any chance to get some one on one work against someone who isnt't your teammate is a good opportunity I would assume, and since they have a few kids that are being recruited by UCF it was probably a chance for them to get on campus and meet coaches face to face. Osceola doesn't do well in games that don't count, probably why they rarely win spring games or KOCs....but what do I know, I'm just a casual fan. Hopefully they can rebound from the piss poor performance at UCF and have some sort of decent season. West Orange is definitely the favorite in the district followed by DP who is always a top team.

I agree that West Orange should be strong this Fall. In the recent Spring Jamboree at Winter Park, Both Apopka and Winter Park easily beat Dr Phillips (WP 12-0 in one varsity quarter, Apopka 21-0 in a half of varsity play). Dr Phillips was not impressive at all. Osceola reached the 8A state final this past Fall, but was blown out by Seminole. Osceola was not impressive in last weekend's UCF 7v7 Camp, losing several times, including their game with Winter Park. I won't be surprised if West Orange wins that district.

LOL .....Osceola beat Nease, Gaither and West Port pretty easily at UCF in pool play, they lost to Winter Park 20-14 and had the ball at the 1 yard line when time expired but you knew that since you watched. Osceola had a 1st round bye in bracket play then lost to a good Dillard team 12-6 in OT, at Osceola they don't put much stock in touch football, they make sure they focus on the real thing. They will be ready once the season starts, we can review this post later in the season.....

the toho qb that transferred to edgewater, lives on the state streets in st cloud.  digging around and find out info, and most of the kids came from gateway, but a dozen or 2 of their best players came from just across the lake....

    congrats to EP.

    Thank you sir!

Thanks for the love,  Apopka is always at the top in our area and had a great year again as they always are a tough out come playoff time (money time).  To advance you not only have to be good, but have a bit of luck on your side as the ball takes funny bounces.   Seminole looks like they have all the pieces this year.  With our young backfield we are transitioning from a run oriented offense to more of a mix of run and throw.  Not there yet offensively so if we can get some help on the offensive line where we do lose players, should be right back in the mix next year as we return 7 starters on the defensive side as well as first line subs.

Very on point! Good analysis Mr. Icaza

I can't remember exactly what the proposed alternative was, but college football was studying a "one play" scenario where the trailing team would have an opportunity. They could easily keep the on-side kick while ending all other kickoffs. On-side kicks are never a surprise when used as a last resort at the end of a game. They could limit it to the last two minutes and make the team declare their intent. At least you wouldn't have players running full speed for 40-50 yards and colliding with injury potential at the highest level.

I remember the Philadelphia Eagles proposed an alternative to onside kicks:

To provide an alternative to the onside kick that would allow a team who is trailing in the game an opportunity to maintain possession of the ball after scoring (4th and 15 from the kicking team’s 25-yard line).

The games are at Jones, West Orange, Seminole, and Osceola. Jones and West Orange are in Orange County and they have limited attendance to only 2 people per player. Tickets are extremely hard to get and to those two games, probably almost impossible. Seminole is in Sanford (Seminole County). It may be easier to get a ticket to that game. Edgewater is playing at Osceola, in Osceola County. That's a longer drive from the Kirkman area but definitely the game I would want to see. Before making that trip though, I would check on ticket availability.

Tickets for Edgewater at Osceola are available online only, first come first serve.....here is the website for purchase.

Osceola has a ton of talent on the DL, Skill positions and they got a transfer QB in as well. They could make a run this year.

Osceola is down this year, OL is young, inexperienced skill kids, they hope to be able to compete with a team like Vero :)
