Another nail biter. Columbus gets the W for the second time in four days against another quality opponent. Booker T in it until the final play.
    Miami Columbus 21
    BTW 19

Yeah commented in the district games thread about this. Miami high looked the part 1st half up 14-0,. But one thing Columbus always has: solid coaching. Adjustments made and a home field advantage really swung momentum in the 2nd half. Columbus pulled off a nice fake punt, a couple forced turnovers (int, fumble), and that blocked PAT were all team heart.
This team, and Arguelles  the QB gained a lot of confidence with this win. Once established, passing and running was equally effective. Decent kicking game too.
If not exhausted, the Monday BTW game should be a nice contest.

Columbus squeaked by their biggest district rival tonight with a 21-20 win over Miami High. Jonny Ford (transfer from Gables) and the Miami high offense looked pretty good and should finish 2nd easily if Columbus doesn't stumble.
Columbus offense sputtered in the first half but got it together scoring all of its points in the 2nd half. Two non-district games coming up for Columbus against BTW on Monday and Lake Gibson 4 days later.
Lots of talent spread throughout 8a south but no one look dominant down here right now.
Edit: forgot to mention that Columbus blocked the PAT in the final three min to secure the win. Exciting game.

Not necessarily a top set of games but a solid doubleheader:
Miami Columbus plays a much touted Miami High this Friday with a follow up game on Monday with BTW. And if you count them heading up to Lake Gibson the following Friday, it's a long week of football.
The carol city / Columbus game won't be rescheduled though.

I'm curious if many other schools have scheduled double games this week or next because of Irma? If so, the wear and tear could up for interesting upsets...

Yeah, he was named offensive player of the year in Dade that year. I believe he got a full ride to Catholic Univeristy (DIII), where he started as a freshman. Don't know much else.

    Thanks, Zoe.
right now, hard to say as the last two opponents Columbus faced haven't shown much. I do know that we do have some talented players at some key positions, but here is NO depth that I can see.
if I were a betting man, I'd go with NW especially at the Traz. That said you know Columbus is a very disciplined team and well coached. But I think MNW this year reminds me of the Bulls of old.
The qb is young but has an arm and can scramble a bit. He also has a couple nice targets (#2 Norris has some soft hands), and some speedsters (little Henderson and Harrel). The Dbs can hold their own, although definitely not close to shut down like cj, Jobe and Bandy were.
My opinion - its like FSU / bama this weekend, o-line needs to give the QB some time or it could get ugly.

Nice enough kid, but he never held the confidence of his teammates during his three year tenure. Father was a big contributor to the school, but probably should have been replaced with the backup Ros during his senior year. Kids played above their ability for Alejandro. Bierne often warmed up alone.

6A - Keep an eye on Boynton Beach
7A - Keep an eye on South Broward
8A - Don't overlook the depth of Dade.  It is ridiculous this year.  I would probably have 10-12 Dade 8A in my top 100.
