The FHSAA won’t do anything that drastic. I would be all for the top 32 title but that would take away the other 8 and no way that would ever happen. I like big district idea if we keep crappy current system and take half. I liked old top two district playoff better than stupid mysterious maxprep rankings that move team up 8 spots for losing by 28 and don’t match fhsaa anyway.

I know Venice petitioned to go to metro. I was just responding to the statement that the new system worked. It did make for more competition in state games at the expense of many more blowouts in regular season. The whole rationale of the new system is that metro schools won 89% of states titles and that suburban teams can’t compete so let’s separate them and it was done . The same group of teams will win state in all 9 divisions so the parity reason will fail too. Go back to old system

So we blew up old system to help about ten suburban elects teams and screwed many more.

Lake wales loses to central by 28. the suburban is the minor leagues and if they were able to compete with the metro than why make any change at all from old system. Oh that’s right those poor elite suburban teams only made the semis instead of getting a state champions b level trophy. Hope the state trophy was a little smaller for suburban joke league

By the way. I know Lakeland and Benice can play with anyone. All the other suburban state champs get slaughtered by metro equivalent

I never said poor teams win a state title. I wanted to keep the system the same so a district title or making the playoffs was realistic for metro teams that don’t cheat and recruit. The promotion idea is a real way to get parity without doing a private public split that’s not allowed. Isn’t the suburban a lower pooer division right now. You already degraded lake wales championship because they would have got crushed by central if old system. Suburban is minor leagues

The main reason for the metro suburban split is that there was no parity in state champs. It was always the same city teams. Well now it will be the same city metro champs and the same suburban champ every year. Meanwhile the number of blowouts increased dramatically in the regular season because you crunched 8 divisions into four in the metro divisions. The change really only benefited the suburban teams who made the semifinals before but lost in the state to broward dade super teams. So great for lake wales. They were amazing before .

The plan did not work at all. You had the same teams as always in the finals and the only new champion was lake wales who made the semis recently. It will be the same group of teams in the finals just like the past decade. No real difference. So all the games were not blow out. Same teams and you got a million blowouts during regular season so no state powers got crushed by plan.

You’re exactly right perspective. They did it in closed door meetings to help out lee county and Polk. Mysteriously it changed AFTER they realized those two would be metro and made up some crazy density rule. Heck Seminole county is know for parks and wildlife. Not huge population but have to take care of Polk at others expense. By the way. Look at all those new state champions parity the plan created. Oh wait. All those suburban teams in the finals have been to the final four within the past decade. Plan just gives solid suburban teams who already made semifinals. A state trophie. Will be same group who win all 9 division just like past. Do real competitive balance

Sorry I misspelled Polk. I respect Lakelands success and even saw you beat St Thomas in last championship. However, I think you rep was a joke and submitted some crazy proposals just because you guys got caught cheating. What has been passed by state legislature has ruined high school sports where either you’re forced to cheat and recruit or get drilled. Then they pass this dumb suburban plan and they conveniently do closed door changes to actual plan and sneak super large counties into suburbs to benefit certain counties and POLK was one of them. I said when they passed this that it be for the elite suburb schools who already made semi finals at the expense of 100’s of schools. What do you know. The teams in state are the same ones who were great before but could not win state. So great news for about 16 schools and screw tons of others.

One last fact. Lakeland was the biggest recruiters and cheaters and were busted which led to crazy state rep messing with the fhsaa and high schools. Just telling the truth here. Go Venice

Fun fact about PLOK county. Their state representative is what started this open enrollment crap that ruined hs sports with easy transfers. Another fun fact, they somehow got their county and lee put in the suburban when their population is bigger than other metro counties and pulled the old switcheroo between the first proposal and the one that actually passed to dodge st Thomas Aquinas and other metro teams. Screw them and I hope Venice beats them by thirty.

The suburban - metro idea was poor solution to real problem of imbalance between haves and have not due to recruiting. As I predicted. The same teams who already made it to the finals or semi finals in old system but lost will win the suburban titles. The same group of teams will win suburban every year just like the same will win metro with a few exceptions . Move teams up who dominate and put all Chester in one or two classes and let non cheater play each other in others. . Real solution to problem

Congrats to Apopka. Really nice. Win and you are district champs and get home games throughout regional final probably. You might have a tougher time beating Seminole next time though when their starting qb is in. Still great win though.

I was showing how horrible maxpreps rankings are when they count margin of victory. If you end up with a 4-5 team at number 9 in 4m and another 5-4 team who did not not beat anybody in top 16. Then something is wrong with your ranking formula. The one team lost 37-7 a week ago and rose three spots in the state. SOS is weighted wayyyyy too heavy in maxpreps. Go back to rpi which makes sense a lot more than this dumb ranking .

So I want to get this straight. Your telling me that a 4-5 team Palmetto is the 9th best team this year. It seems maxoreps does not count losses if you lose to a solid team at all. They have a 5-4 team lake Brantley rated super high too. What a joke. End this crazy rankings next year and go back to rpi. The rankings don’t really match up that much anyway when the fhsaa ones come out. Whole things is maddening because playoffs will be determined by this.

There will be issues with any system. I just have a problem with the lack of transparency of maxpreps ratings. I see a team with four losses ranked super high and they got beat bad in three of them. The latest. A 27plus beat down and they rose four spots in regular maxpreps rankings of the state. The regular rankings must focus too much on Strength of schedule for that non sense to happen

I have seen examples where teams get run off field and rise a few spots in the maxpreps rankings and other times where the drop like a rock. Using maxpreps without knowing their formula is a bad idea. The system was better when it was a third record and the. Opponents record and a third and opponents opponents record for a third but that is too easy. No money to be made off that

Western hs is rated as 6th best team in 4m at 3-2 with big wins against Taravella who is 0-5. Some Georgia team that is 1-5 and coconut creek who is 3-3. Really. The. Go destroyed by ST Thomas and American h. The. That winter park team is still rated three with weak schedule and ahead of team that just beat them. O something please explain this secret dumb formula to determine playoffs to me

It’s tough to trust fhsaa to create and operate a playoffs system. The one idiotic system have the Laing team more points for losing than the winning team got. Maxoreps is like local newspaper who rank 1-3 teams in top 16 . What a joke.

How come the fhsaa cant use the formulae they had before where it was a third win and opponents record etc. instead no one know what the heck is being judged by maxoreeos because formula protected by copyright. What a joke.
