As it should be for a pick em contest!

I’m organizing a Pick’em Contest for the 2021 season.  My plan is to play for 11 weeks (Week of August 27 – Week of November 5).


 
Scoring:

Each week, there will be 10 games to pick.  You will pick the winners and assign a confidence rating for every game.  Your most confident pick is give the 10 point spot.  The next most confident pick is for 9 points and all the way down to your least confident pick for 1 point.  A perfect week will get you 55 points.  I will track points throughout the season by username.  For example:
10: Team A over Team B
9: Team F over Team E
8: Team D over Team C

 
etc.  
Season Long Prizes:

For now, bragging rights.  Depending on how popular this endeavor ends up, I may throw a couple gift cards as prizes.


 
Picks:

Games will be posted by 5:00 PM on Monday.  I will do my best to incorporate some lesser known match-ups as well as try to cover the entire state.  Picks will be due by 7:00 PM on Friday.  Games that are cancelled/postponed will result in a shortened schedule for the week.

Certainly a couple of surprises in there. Gotta throw those 2nd quarter games out the window though. Lakeland and East Bay were 0-0 in the 2nd and that one ended up 41-0.
Another game that ended in the 2nd quarter was Newsome @ Palmetto. It was 7-7 at that point but some questions I had were answered about Palmetto. Their freshman QB " Baby Tebow" is as good as advertised. Their transfer RB from Braden River who went for 1000/13 last season looked nice. And their transfer WR from Riverview looked pretty nice as well. Palmetto looks like they're atleast on par with the last two season's teams and that's saying something. @ColumbiaHighFan2017class

That coach would be the just retired legendary George Smith who built the program from the ground up-
1.St.Thomas Aquinas-Next week Baltimore’s St.Frances Academy they are loaded and huge-They are really a college prep team in terms of age and size-They came down to Traz Powell a few years ago and obliterated Miami Central shut them out if I recall-Gonna be a very difficult game for Aquinas but, it’s at 12 noon-Maybe the Heat will help STA-This a very talented Aquinas team again.
2.Cardinal Gibbons-Just beat Miami Palmetto-Gibbons has studs everywhere and gets outstanding coaching from Matt Dubuc and his staff-They play STA at home this year.
3.American Heritage Plantation-They lost to IMG 35-15 tonight-They lost their QB early in the game so it hurt them -IMG has the most talent in the country let’s not kid-Heritage will be fine especially come state championship time-
4.Chaminade-They shutout Dillard who moved to 7A this year-Chaminade is just dominant in their class-No one is close right now-They are loaded with D-1 prospects .
5.Western-They have maybe the best passing QB in South Florida in Collin Hurst kid can make any pass on the high school level they are loaded at WR-Incredible offense led by coach Rak-Look out a definite state contender in 8A
6.Deerfield Beach-Alway talented-They blew out out Tru Prep Academy tonight-Several D-1 commitments-8A contender for the title -Maybe they get it their first ship this year-
The rest is up for debate-As of right now these are clearly the top 6-Maybe Dillard comes on later.
 
 

Not that it will be earth shaking, but Celebration's victory over St. Cloud was also big surprise. 
I was not shocked LM beat DP, but the margin of victory was shocking!

Idk if the Sr lost the job or is injured,  but Gaskins lit it up this summer in 7 on 7 tourneys.

It sure was.

Manatee should be solid, but a return to glory isn't likely as long as Coach Marino is keeping the stars north of the river home at Palmetto. Most of Manatee's great teams had alot of Palmetto kids on the roster. Coach Marino has done a great job at keeping the local talent home the last five years or so.

I know this is last minute, but I know a legit QB looking to transfer to a Florida HS. 6'4 junior, good speed, great arm. Pro style kid. Are there any high schools out there that have players but need a distributor?

I can think of at least one team here in Central Florida that has made back to back to back deep runs that could use one. But I certainly would not aid and abet a rival. 

Venice will definitely be a challenge for any of the teams in the mix.  I did read that the Borchers kid (QB) out of IMG just transferred into Riverview as well as them getting 2 out of state kids 6'4" that will also compete for the QB spot with Will Evans who shared time with Browne last year.  That probably is the best explanation of why Browne left and went to Venice as opposed to the coaching theory which I disagreed with.   Sounds like a good problem to have.

Still think Sarasota Riverview will make some noise in 8A as they feel they could have been a finalist last year and return a strong roster.  The kid that split time with Browne (QB)  who transferred to Venice may have well been projected to start this year (Will Evans).  Obviously, will come down to them and Venice in their district but as I mentioned previously an early indicator will be their opener against Sanford Seminole here in central FL.  Definitely would not overlook them to surprise some people.
