  1. there in like year three or four of football. I don’t think they’ve made it to the semi’s.
  2. All we really think we know about Hillsborough public teams is that they fit in 3 general categories. Decent to good, average, and awful. Category 1: Tech Armwood Sumner Plant Wharton Hillsborough Durant Plant City Category 2 Robinson East Bay Alonso Steinbrenner Blake Riverview Newsome Lennard Strawberry Crest Gaither Sickles Category 3 Freedom King Brandon Leto Middleton Jefferson Chamberlain Spoto Bloomingdale
  3. I’ve said this a billion times. I hate the current classifications. The district are small week and watered down. We would know a hell of a lot more if these teams are playing in 7 or 8 team districts. Hillsborough public schools would set up perfectly into two 6A and two 5A districts of 7 teams each if we were in the old system. if that was the case, we would know a lot more about teams like Sumner based on the results.
  4. Depends on the teams, the hype, if there is a rivalry, what's at stake etc. Generally, Florida's atmosphere is not the same as Texas or GA. California I'm not sold on. You only see the top few teams, so who really knows. I've been to some games at Plant and Lakeland that absolutely have big time atmospheres, attendance, importance, etc. But generally speaking, no, our atmospheres are not the same. But if you look at Texas and Georgia, they are more community schools. A state full of Apopkas, Lakelands, Columbias, Nicevilles, etc etc
  5. Agreed. Still hate the classifications. I've had the same old song for years but I think it's the best way. 5 or 6 large classes. Minimum 7 per district (smaller classes you could have geographic exceptions). Top 2 make playoffs. I do like re-seeding after the first round based on points system, so not just a straight bracket.

  8. so if Leto got five transfers, so they went 2-8 you’d have them in the open division?

  10. @ Lakeland since 76 as the head man. I was 7. Now I’m 54. 8 state titles and 2 Nattys. Legend.
  11. MC STA Lakeland Chaminade Columbus Lake Wales Cocoa First Baptist Hawthorne
  12. Only reason it exists is to spread the wealth instead of crowning true champs. Don’t want S Fla to dominate? Get better.
  13. no reason why STA and Lakeland did not meet in Final. Venice should have been in the mix with APK and Columbus. We have too many classes.
  14. two good teams and a fairly close game can we just back to six classes already? I know the panhandle hates it but maybe they can skew the #s so teams in suburban areas can play down one class? This would make 5A or 4A predominantly panhandle and suburban teams.
  15. Lake Wales in front of Cocoa. IMO.
  16. Poorly played in a lot of aspects so far. Homestead has terrible special teams. Neither team can get in any sort of rhythm.
  17. yep. but really, his better play would be drawing kids away from Blake, Middleton, and Jefferson. All those programs have been in the dumps and Robinson has enough space to take in those players.
  18. Big hire here in South Tampa. Robinson cut Marlo Hollingshead. They hired Mike Williams from Wharton. Plant grad and played at USC. Played in the NFL for a bit. Turned into a very good high school coach. It’s a shame they cut Marlo, as he had, in my opinion, Robinson heading in the right direction. Making the playoffs for the first time in quite a while. But the A.D. wanted more and she hired Williams..
  19. if this was last year’s Venice team, I would favor them. But it’s not…
  20. i did live in pinellas for stetson, but that’s it. otherwise a tampa native
