  1. It's why I still umpire baseball at 60 +. Pay it forward.
  2. Save the reason's why UCF isn't deserving for the excuse thread... NCAA recognizes UCF's national championship in addition to Alabama's UCF, after all the pomp and circumstance, is a national champion. According to the 2018 record book released last week, the Knights are listed - with Alabama as a team that finished the season No. 1. UCF, which finished 13-0 last season with a win over Auburn in the Peach Bowl, finished atop the Colley-Matrix, one of the computer rankings recognized by the NCAA. The NCAA, per The Orlando Sentinel, recognizes the teams that finish atop major polls, including the Colley-Matrix. The Knights and their undefeated season have been a storyline all offseason since the Peach Bowl win over Auburn. https://www.al.com/sports/2018/08/ncaa_recognizes_ucfs_national.html
  3. I have to agree with ColumbiaFan. UCF doesn't belong to the Club. Will be on the outside looking in and, well... you get the point. Only way in is to join that exclusive club when another team gets the boot and there is an opening, and I don see that happening unless Taggert stays at FSU...
  4. The High School Football Coach Who Never Punts Pulaski Academy football coach Kevin Kelley never punts. He always kicks on-side. His teams play … weirdly. Now the Arkansas squad is going back to Dallas to face its rival, Highland Park, a team that has won 84 games in a row at home and outplayed Pulaski Academy last year. Will Kelley’s data-driven plays lead to the win? The latest film in FiveThirtyEight and ESPN Films’ short-documentary series Collectors, “Undefeated,” directed by Jamie Schutz, follows Pulaski as the team adds a new wrinkle to its playbook and tries to end Highland Park’s streak. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-high-school-football-coach-who-never-punts/
  5. It's about the goal line defense. If they are good at stopping short yardage then kick if you have a decent kicker. If you don't trust your kicker go for 2 every time. There are a few teams that never kick FG's or XP's. One in Arkansas doesn't even like to punt if they are near the 50 or less.
  6. I have St. Augustine winning. That was a hummmm momemt for me. Maybe Bolles needs to be put on the playoff watch list.
  7. All the above but BTW stomping Columbus was the surprise for me. I had BT beating Mandarin so that wasn't really an upset to me. Dunnellon could have gone either way, Dunnellon seems to get a lot of wins each season until the playoffs, Then they lose early 3rd or 4th round. Tampa Tech is better than a lot of people give them credit for. Plant on the other hand should not have gotten creamed like they did. Plant is way down i'm thinking.
  8. UCF impressed me with their Freshman QB and fantastic WR's. Plus that RB is legit. Go Knights. Carrying Florida this year.
  9. I think you do a fine Florida ranking... Keep up the good work.
  10. I believe Trask came from Manvel High School out of Texas. He was the back up, so FSU shouldn't have top worry about the Gators with Trask at QB... PS, he looked better than Franks... IMHO.
  11. Spruce Creek (1-0) Trinity Christian (1-2) Columbus (2-1) IMG Academy (2-0)) South Sumter (3-0) Miami Carol City (1-2) St. Augustine (2-0) NSU University School (2-1) Seminole (Sanford) (2-0) Vanguard (3-0) Washington (2-0) Bartram Trail (3-0) Lake Gibson (3-0) Palmetto (3-0) Robert E. Lee (1-1) (Saturday)
  12. Would like to see them play... 10/14 maybe...
  13. Cocoa and Chaminade Madonna look like they both have an open date 10/11... Can someone make this happen... https://www.maxpreps.com/high-schools/chaminade-madonna-lions-(hollywood,fl)/football/schedule.htm
  14. Maybe if we put our open date here the schools could get together and schedule.
  15. Blah Hurricane... Why can't the schools reschedule with other teams if they have an open date? Cocoa has 10/11 open, could they find someone or do the rules forbid it?
  16. I can't remember one single Cocoa OOS game that Cocoa did not play in front of a sold out HS field. Cowboys stadium and the University of Maryland Fighting Terrapins stadium could never be sold out of course. I didn't get to see the Hoover game so I can't say how many people were there. That said Cocoa vs OOS seems to bring the crowd.
  17. Cocoa usually plays top 25 national teams in OOS. Several times playing the number one ranked national team and beating Abalene when they were ranked number 1 in the nation. Yes they have been handled a few timess by those national Elite teams, but most of the time the games are competitive. Coco should play OOS when they get the opportunity plain and simple.
  18. Cocoa wanted to play Osceola Nole. No games in Brevard were played last weekend. Like most, all coastal games were canceled.
  19. So far Florida is 13 wins - 16 loses. Could have been worse since some Florida teams upset their competition.
