  1. Wow, Florida just got tougher. From first to last in my opinion. 1. FSU 2. UF 3. UM 4. USF, UCF, FAU, FIA in any order given year.
  2. Surprised that Bolles didn't travel better. Maybe they should put a one day delay on the TV/stream to get attendance up like Texas does?
  3. They easily beat Gibbons the first game. The second game is always harder when the other coach prepares for it. I admit it was a good year or Gibbons, but they're football program has never 'really' impressed me. Now their wrestling team... Norland, they were not a good team this year. 4 wins and 6 losses... Just nothing to get excited about. Colquitt was in a rebuild year and AHP caught them early. If they played in late Nov then it would have been more impressive since Propst knows how to develop a team early in the season. It was a good win for AHP in Georgia, but not one of the better wins. Northwestern was a tougher team to beat in my opinion. Northwestern, good team, good game. Lost to early in the playoffs. Made a good game against AHP, and in correction, probably the 2nd team best to play AHP, right behind Don Bosco..
  4. Thanks Dan... Wish you had made it all the way also.
  5. Note. You just can not give Richardson time or he is accurate and will make those tough throws.
  6. BTW was much faster in the WR part than Plant. That will make a difference when the QB is hitting his receivers and the receivers are making the catches. BTW QB Richardson was 19 of 32 for 280 yards. The off coverage just didn't work for STA that game. Not sure the Bump would have worked either since Richardson was hot with receivers catching anything that came close. It was just STA's time to lose to BTW.
  7. Texas pays out of state teams pretty well to travel, where most Florida schools can not afford to pay Texas teams to come here and play unless it is a team like IMG or one of the better privates. Texas Football is about the money as well as the program. They know to have a good program, it comes with a price tag, and losing money on a game isn't in their best interest.
  8. Thanks Guys, they worked hard for this one. Having those 8 transfers didn't hurt either. Hope they can find the magic next year also. They lose 7 starters on defense and 8 from offense, I believe, but bring back some very special players. Hawkins, Stewart and White are going to be 4 and 5 stars before the end of the season next year, with some 2's and 3's mixed in.
  9. Would have loved to see Greg Schiano, or Les Miles at USF. Strong is the last of the 3 for me, but should be ok at USF for a few seasons. Just have to wait and see who he has as a staff. Cocoa QB, Judson, will fit in at USF with Strong as the coach I think.
  10. AHP was a question for me all this year. Their best wins were Don Bosco and Jesuit in my opinion. There were a few teams they should have trampled, but the scores were to close for comfort. Is Ponte really that good? Seems their schedule was more soft than hard.
  11. Our Florida total attendance is about equivalent to one Texas championship game. Come on Florida, we need to do better.
  12. STA is flat out dominating at the end of the season. They are beatable early in the season though, but when the transfers jell together after a few games, they become wicked. You are going to see more teams that can compete with STA in the future. Athletes will find the school in their county that has the best shot at a championship and transfer now that the rules have changed. The even playing field is there for the schools that want it, they just need the coaching staff and the athletes to transfer in.
  13. You could Add a few more teams to that list, maybe even Glades Central even though they lost a few this year. It would be a decent game in my opinion.
  14. Cocoa basically have 4 RB's and one that can pass. Pratt must not be getting many touches tonight.
  15. Wow. I could only hope for a great game. Wish I was there. Thankscf ok r the updates.
  16. Hopefully some will do updates. I'm in the middle of the Atlantic and have limited internet access. Would love to read some play by play when I can.
  17. Coaching has rewards on and off the field. Watching that one player get better and better, that needs more help than you believe you can give him is special. Had a kid, Zack, he was big and heavy and clumsy and slow and hardly any coordination at all. Started playing at 12 because his dad made him. Was the very last player picked for any team. I personally took it upon myself to teach this kid to believe in himself. At the start of the season he only played because the rules said he had to. Easy out and right field player that you hoped the ball wasn't hit to. Practice by practice I worked with Zack on hitting and fielding. Everyday, I would pitch to him. He began to hit the ball more and more in practice but not in the games. He still lacked the confidence. Little by little he began to field better. His depth perception was getting better. All this work was slow and painful at times. Very little improvement at times, but we kept at it every practice. Near the end of the season, we were playing the first place team, we were the second place team, and the score was tied. 2 runners on, one out, and Zack was coming up to bat. He hit the first pitch, a grounder, hard straight at the second baseman. The second baseman muffed the grounder allowing the runner on 3rd to get home, but Zack was thrown out at first cause he was a slow runner. We have a 1 point lead in the last inning. Zack is playing right field when a deep fly to right center is hit. No one, including myself gave Zack a chance of catching it, but Zack ran his hardest and something amazing happened, Zack stretched out his body on a full lumbering run and caught the ball. It was an incredible catch. That was the first out of the last inning. The team started chanting "Heavy Z, Heavy Z." and It was called "The Catch" by the team. We beat the first place team by 1 run that day, and that was the day Zack became a member of the team. Zacks dad came up to me at the end of the season and told me I gave him and Zack one of his greatest gifts. 6 weeks before the season, Zacks dad was diagnosed with cancer. 6 months after the season his dad died. He never missed a game except when he was to sick at the end of the season, but he was there when Zack made "The Catch". Coaching is a serious job. You never know who or how you may impact a players life so do the best you can. Never give up on someone that you can help. There is no greater reward for me than to have a player come up to me years down the road and call me coach. I don't see Zack very much anymore because he joined the Army, and god only knows where he is, but I do know one thing. He will always remember "The Catch" and getting his nick name, Heavy Z, for the rest of his life, and when he remembers, he will smile.
  18. Cocoa will have teams calling them because of their playoff status. Most good teams will have middle of the road teams calling if they are interested in making it to state.
  19. I know, and they showed the nation what they had. It was a special group. Rockledge had a baseball team do the same thing and won the little league world series back to back.
  20. Good advice also. I coach little league and have though about going up the the High School level as a JV coach but decided that I like little League enough and it has it's challenges. My first rule is instill the love of the game in each athlete. Second rule is teach good sportsmanship. Third rule, always play to win, If second place is okay to you then your only an assistant. Always be humble when you beat a bad team.
