Ohio St. Edward definitely had an advantage over Mainland last year. Mainland had to take a bus from Daytona all the way to Ohio. They were very tired when they arrived for the game. It showed in the second half. So in that case, yes, the bus trip mattered. IMG's biggest problem will be the game starting at 7:00pm. That will be 10 our time. Unless the coaches has the team sleep late, jet lag may start working against IMG in the second half. Sitting in a locker room during half time will slow the body down,. About the 4th quarter the team may be showing signs of fatigue. You don't always feel fatigue when adrenaline is pumping but decision making isn't as sharp as it should be. From my experience, a 2 or 3 hour bus ride is more fun than anything, and usually a good meal an hour or 2 before a game gets a team ready to play.

OK, is Madison suddenly growing in enrollment? There are 600 students enrolled, so they are not a 4A size school. At best they are 3A and that's stretching it. I believe they moved to a classification that needed more schools in their districts.

I know how you feel, Like when Cocoa was getting hammered in the second half against Gorman. It's a gloomy feeling.

Have to make a Spoiler Alert for this one!!!!

Too bad BTW lost... It breaths fire into the lungs of the dragons they will have to slay before the playoffs. MC will be looking at this game with a new level of interest. -
Well, if I had to take a team to beat IMG it would be LBP, It's a long tiring ride on a plane to Cali. and LBP ain't no duck.
-
SPCJessica has writing skills. Not enough people on here have that talent.
-
The only teams left on their schedule that have a chance to beat them are; Oxbridge Trinity Christian Long Beach Poly Chaminade They are all away games for IMG, so which team has the best chance of beating IMG? LBP is in Cali, but they already took out the #4 CenTen in Cali so LBP isn't looming that big. That leaves the top ranked Florida team and that would be TCA who lost to Cocoa. I just don't see them losing any games this season, and still coming up short of the NMC.

IMG has 12 games this season. 5 are ranked by Max Preps in the top 50 and 3 are top 25. The only team that can hang with that and still be undefeated at the end of the season is Bishop Gorman. Maybe MC is good this year, but their schedule isn't going to get them anywhere near the top 10 after STA and BTW both lose. The strength of schedule just isn't their even if they run their schedule and finish state champs. IMG's schedule @ Grayson (Loganville, GA) Ranked 13th in the nation Centennial (Corona, CA) Ranked 17th in the nation Washington (Tulsa, OK) Ranked 1250 in the nation St. John's (Washington, DC) Ranked 25th in the nation Boyd Anderson (Lauderdale Lakes, FL) Ranked 124 in the nation Southern Lab (Baton Rouge, LA) Ranked 2356 in the nation @ Oxbridge Academy (West Palm Beach, FL) Ranked 47th in the nation @ Trinity Christian Academy Ranked 34th in the nation @ Long Beach Poly (Long Beach, CA) Ranked 422 in the nation @ Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, FL) Ranked 138 in the nation St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, MD) Ranked 2469 in the nation Bishop Sullivan Catholic (Virginia Ranked 885 in the nation

They were good enough this night to beat a national top 10 team in many polls. Oh man, are things going to move around now.
-
It is just hard to believe. BTW is such a quick strike team. I can't remember the last time they score less than 2 td's in a game.
-
Wow, you really went there after 4A BTW beat 7A STA this year? Last year 4A Cocoa beat 7A state runner up Viera and 4A is watered down? Explain your logic. I do agree that BTW should not have lost this one. However, if it was raining, I can see why? BTW is a passing team and rain makes that risky. Jackson must have a great defense, it's hard to stop BTW, MC will be watching that game tape.
-
Oh I know who Madison is, we played them for the regionals before and won a squeaker, and then went on to play Glades Central to a 1 point win. 4A is beast for a small classification. Bolles, Raines and Dunnellon from the north, and Booker T, Cocoa and Glades Central from the south. I wish they had a playoff of the top 4. I would be fun to watch.

Manatee is broken right now. Plain to see they need a motivator in the locker room and a Coach on the sidelines... What happened to that proud program. Looks like the FHSAA got their hooks into them like they did Lakeland several years back. Once that happens, the whole program changes for a long time. Armwood is just now getting the program back after 4 or 5 years since the FHSAA got them.
-
Wow, they beat two average 5-6A teams and they are getting booted from 1A. MadCo has always fought through tough games. They win a lot but they've lost their share also. I hope they do win 1A. Those athletes practice hard and have come close. It's their's to lose. I don't see them being ready for 4A yet, even if they do win 1A. Maybe 3A would be a good move for them. It would give TCA something to think about. Just glad I picked Madison in the pick em's.

It's all good.. I'll just watch you guys play.
-
Not sure columbia, but Cocoa is always looking for a good game. No sandbagging here... Vero Beach seems to come up with a better team than 90% of the state.
-
What the heck is going on... I've submitted every week but the results show that I've only submitted last week?
-
Welcome to the board Trelle. Would love to see Cocoa and Vero play a home and away. Both are good teams and travel well, so It would be a great matchup.
-
Here is the roster size that really counts. 22 players on the field at a time, 11 for each side. Chance favors a school with 4000 to pick from over 200. 1A beating an 8A is an accomplishment. That 1A team will be expected to beat all the teams they play in the future.

It's very dry in Vegas. I'll try to do updates if my phone holds out.

The man is in the house. Hey Dan, welcome to Josh Wilson 101.

TCA has all the key players in the right places. Time is all they need. 2 more games and they will be unstoppable. I did notice that a few of the O-line needed a little more conditioning but are very solid and the conditioning will come with game time. Legend was throwing some lasers when given enough time and is a better QB than most teams have. #88 is just a plain ole freak. He has that football magic coaches love. TCA will be okay. For some reason I always think CCC is north? SOoo, It looks like Oxbridge will have to earn it after all...

I just hope Cocoa and Viera don't get shutout. Please dear God, let the Brevard teams play the game of their lives and come home with their teams intact. Amen.

GAME STORY: Cocoa upsets Jacksonville Trinity Christian in overtime
Cat_Scratch replied to SportsNut25's topic in The Huddle
Trinity Christian will not have a problem making it to the 3A playoffs. They have top shelf athletes on that team, -
I was on the wagon Oxbridge last year until three of the wheels fell of. I feel like they could push their way through the south bracket right to the Championship game with Trinity Jax this year. AH DelRay seems to have lost something in the last 2 seasons. It will never be a cake walk in 3A south but they have the ponies. Same for Trinity, they will have some good competition in the north from teams like CCC. Cocoa vs The Bishop. Judson had a good game against a highly ranked defense. He put up 175 or so in the air and then another 85 on the ground. Bishop Gorman's being quoted as having the #1 defense in the nation. We will just have to wait and see what Cocoa can do with their ground game before Wilks will ask Judson to start throwing. There is potential for some passing with a few added transfers that can catch the ball as seen last week against Trinity. I'm not fool enough to believe Cocoa will take a lead and hold and push Bishop around like they did Trinity when they will be flying 2300 miles to play one of the best teams in America in the desert. I'm just hoping for another good game where the boys can come home and still feel respected. Who would have thought they were going to beat the highly publicized Trinity team last week? Cocoa's job is to play the best game they can and maybe they make it a great game. Hey, to be the best, you have to play the best. I know at least one South Florida team that will be cheering for Cocoa...
