  1. I would do it for a few thousand as well (already did one region in one classification), I wish Frank Beasley would contact me about it. But I just want to make sure what am I doing in my spread sheet is correct. I hope would hope they release the information every week (even if it is going to have wild fluctuations and be of little consequence until later in the season). A new system needs to have as much transparency as possible for the coaches, fans, and the media. The media and fans will be faster to check mistakes than the normal one-man administration team at the FHSAA.
  2. I am not suggesting that less than 12 hours after the games have ended that the FHSAA or others should be releasing an updated power points rankings, but does anybody know how often they will do it? Is it scheduled for a certain day? I have done it for one region of one classification, so I want to see if I did it right.
  3. I think this is it for him. I mean 12 seasons of NFL is hard on the body, especially for a person who gets hit. My sophomore year of H.S. our school had a legit D-1 S/QB, we had a power-running game. I remember we were playing Pahokee at home and high expectations of being able to beat Pahokee. If you didn't know Anquan Boldin before the game, you knew him afterwards. He moved around the pocket, scrambled for 20 yards a play it seemed. Intercepted us probably twice and probably took one back for a TD. Of course, this could all be in my mind, but I just remember him being a dominant player against us.
  4. It doesn't have him punting, but here are some highlights of Vince Wilfork in high school. The first few tackles are from the Glades Central game I was talking about. Article about the game
  5. I wish the video still existed, but when I was a sophomore/junior in HS and just moved to the area, Wilfork was a senior at Santaluces. I didn't know him other than the PB Post was making a big deal about him and his talents. That year, Santaluces was playing Glades Central at Santaluces in a game that was televised live (so probably 1998 or more likely 1999). In 1999, getting a regular season high school game on TV was a big deal. This wasn't a state championship just one of the opening games of the season. Glades Central was reigning state champion in 4A (classes were 2A-6A). Wilfork was a nationally ranked player, excellent shot putter and discus thrower which is how I knew of him as a kid who was an average track and field kid. Anyway, Santaluces gets on the field, drive stalls. Who is sent in to punt. Vincent Wilfork and all 300+ lbs of him. What happens, poor snap and Glades Central runs over poor Wilfork and I think returns it for a TD or at least good field position. This probably happens another 2 times before the coach quit punting and just kept going for it each time. Still my lasting memory of Wilfork.
  6. @ColumbiaHighFan2017class she played against CHS when you guys traveled to Bolles. As for Kickoffs, only video I could find of her has her getting it to the 25. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUqO-qkYVlI
  7. Fine... Bolles good enough of a program to be serious about winning? http://jacksonville.com/sports/high-schools/2016-01-08/story/bolles-kicker-erika-clark-makes-history-all-state-selection
  8. No Public school team team North of the Orlando Area wins a state championship (including 1A).
  9. No sequel unless Mayweather loses, but does he really need another payday after this... I mean he is looking at over $250,000,000 at the end of this easily. He is 40 years old. Can retire at a nice round number of 50-0... I mean what else does he have to prove at this point. His career earnings will be nearing $1 billion.
  10. A year or more ago, I offered the solution to this unbridled movement. Team success means your teams moves up in classification (with some caveats for 1A Rural and 2A). One of the reasons for that was to allow a team that amasses a super team to continue to move up and play in a more competitive classification. As was suggested above, with unbridled movement, classifications will no longer be a balancing act.
  11. I am pretty sure it was the only time that Howard ran it. Just like the Tebow Jump Pass, you show it once and make people prepare for it. Now, Florida went to that well one too many times and Tebow ended up being intercepted in the SEC championship game against Alabama. But you do it once you are up by a lot so that teams waste time preparing for it.
  12. Columbia High School Coach Craig Howard in his 2nd year against Suwannee High School for a 2pt conversion or or goalline TD did this. So yes, it can work.
  13. This is essentially what my idea was about moving teams up and down based on wins and school size. More successful teams would move up, less successful teams would move down. (Basically, promotion and relegation system). What would eventually happen is that the cream of the crop would compete in 8A and the less competitive teams would compete in 2A. (1A would still be rural).

  17. For how long have some newspapers done All-Area teams? For how long have the writers/coaches done All-State teams? Is there an overall listing of All-State teams. Just curious.
  18. http://www.northjersey.com/story/sports/columnists/darren-cooper/2017/03/16/cooper-njsfc-football-proposal-ready-next-step/99266992/ I know this is a Florida board, but I promise I have a point that relates to Florida football. First, New Jersey is weird when it comes to football, they are the only state that does not play down to one group champion. In other words, they basically have 4 regional/sectional champions for a given group/classification. They also separate out their private schools from the public schools. Recently, they expanded the number of classifications for public schools to 5 and this proposal increases it to 8, but reduces the regions down 2. My favorite quote though from the article is "Pequannock (528 kids) against Mahwah (692) in Group 2 is an extreme example." of a difference in school size. Basically this proposal would shrink that gap. I have to laugh as that as extreme example though. I know as school size gets bigger, size becomes less important. It is one of the reasons why 1A Rural schools argue for a hard cap at 600 or similarly in 2A. Reality is that pass a certain number of students, the talent gap is not that big. Lazl, on another board, posts interclassification results each year and the results bare out that 6-8A is pretty evenly matched. Could you imagine if our goal was to have no more than a 100 or 200 student gap per classification?
  19. Josh, Wanted to let answer your question on why I don't click on the main page. Basically, if I am coming to this site or another Florida HS Football site, i just have to type in F-L-O and your site is right on top and I click enter. I don't have to go to the main site to click on forums to click on The Huddle to get to see if anything is updated. I am sure you knew this. I do often click the story from it being shared on various facebook pages.
  20. Feel free to ignore... but pet peeve is how much HS sports logos change on a yearly, monthly, by sport basis for some of these high schools. Or how it is almost impossible to find a quality version of the logo without having to do a lot of work on it. Not to pick on Vanguard, but I have counted at least five different logos. 1) Just the V with 3 colors. 2) A V with Vanguard written across it (towards the bottom) 3) A Knight similar to the Rutgers Logo Knight. 4) A Knight with a lance and a horse (old Helmet Logo) 5) Another Knight. Vanguard is far from the only one like this, they just happen to be the one I noticed. All of this just going to their school website, facebook page, and football page. I get that a school and a sports team might have different logos (UF vs the Florida Gators), but for some of these schools they change every year or with a new coach or new sport season.
  21. Sharkbait, Wouldn't the example you just gave go in favor of the "recruiting" school, as they did not initiate the contact in any means. From what we are seeing from the text messages in this case, it looks like a Trenton player initiated the recruiting.
  22. Isn't that 2 too many? Pahokee has had this issue before when they played Newberry for state championship, several players diving into the endzone on their blowout win if I remember correctly. As a person who was in high school and living in the 561 during the Boldin Years, I know the talent that Pahokee has. As for the Baker article, a lot of sour grapes on their part, but no need to continue to comment for 50+ comments like the facebook article did. Just move on.
