Armwood lost in overtime. Trust me, Edgewater is better than Armwood. I am not saying Edgewater wins next week, but they won't get rolled. The BM Edgewater game should not be used as a measuring stick for Edgewater. They are a lot better now than they were a month ago.

I would be very surprised if Marietta running clocked Edgewater. Edgewater is at least 21 points better (probably more) than last year's team that made the semis against Lakeland. Marietta is good, maybe very good, but not as good as their ranking at the beginning of the season. If it were not for the fact that Lakeland stands in the way of Daytona Beach, I would be willing to say Edgewater is a lock to make the title game.

If Edgewater can cut down on the mental mistakes and penalties, they will beat Marietta.

Yes, DarterBlue actually went to this game and not APK vs Brantley. The hope was it would be more competitive. Well, despite sporting Wekiva a 14-0 lead and then a 21-7 lead (the first two Wekiva touchdowns were off Edgewater turnovers, a stripped catch and unforced fumble), Edgewater scored the final 45 points of the game to win comfortably. This Edgewater team compares favorably in terms of talent with the 2002-20004 teams which all made the title game. Next week against Marietta up in Georgia, I think they have a very good chance but cannot afford to spot them 14 like they did against Wekiva. Wekiva played its best but just did not have the talent. Last year's or for that matter the 2017 team, would have given this Edgewater team a good game. This year's team while decent, does not have the stellar defense that those other two team had.

Orlando Evans is 3-1 and could easily have been 4-0 as they lost 14-16 to West Orange. Last year I think they went 2-8. They have always had talent. However, it has been about a decade since they had a decent team and 18 years since they were consistently good.

The above looks about right. I would have Dillard up a spot above Palmetto. But overall, I think they got the top twenty about right.

I hope it does not. It is one solution, but it does not appeal to me. There are a lot of negatives to structuring athletics that way. For one, in most states it would lead to automatic racialization of sports. For another, it would automatically put a stigma on lower socio-economic schools. I do support, at least to a degree, the proposals I have seen on this board to have promotion/demotion based on performance. However, to have totally separate leagues, does not appeal to me.

I mostly agree with you. Chaminade is going to be a huge hurdle for this VB team, though.

Not to defend Lakeland, for the practice is not defensible, but it is a lot easier to schedule the South Florida minnows than it is the better teams from South Florida, is what you are looking for is for the SF team to travel two years in a row. They are probably not too many Central Florida schools willing to travel to, say, Traz Powell, for a return date.

No. TCA is not elite. Regardless of roster, the defense is clearly not state caliber.

North of Orlando. It has been decades since they had a very good team. They did have like a 9-1 season about ten years ago but exited the playoffs quickly.

It was futile for them to continue playing given the extent of the mismatch. They probably feared injuries.

Congratulations! Hard fought win by Columbia. Here in Orlando, Edgewater beat up Godby 48-7 while Apopka beat Ocoee 41-12. In my humble opinion, Edgewater is far and away the best team in Orlando. But their run will again likely stop at the state semifinals against Lakeland.

Lake Minneola is an average Orlando area team. If Minneola gave VB trouble, VB is probably make another early playoff exit.

Dillard would probably score 100 on them in 2.5 quarters. The score reminds me of the Jones vs Oak Ridge where Jones was up 63-0 at the half.

I forgot about that one. PBG won the semifinal 10-7 over Winter Park at their home field then proceeded to score 48 or 49 on Deerfield the following week at Dolphin Stadium or whatever it was called then.

The QB Jones played is okay, but he is not as nearly as good as the three you mentioned. While I favor Jones, I do believe this could be a close game, and I would not be terribly surprised if Bishop Moore won it. It may well be a good game to watch.

I am pretty sure the answer is no. A couple teams including Apopka have won state with four regular season losses. Good luck to Pahokee on its unique quest!

They did not look good in the Spring game. I have not seen them live since them, but they have scored two impressive victories in the new season. I respect your opinion and will take you word until I see them that Edgewater is superior to them.
