All of the following teams are tough to beat when they are the "home" team in the playoffs.  But, historically, one has proven to be the hardest team of them all to beat at home in the playoffs.  This team has won an amazing 95% of its home playoff games.

Who is it?  Bonus question:  Which is the last team to beat them at their home?

    Armwood

    Bolles

    Booker T Washington

    Lakeland

    Madison County

    Manatee

    Pahokee

    St Thomas Aquinas

For some reason, I suspect the answer may be Armwood. Although they don't have a lot of State Titles, they have made the title game multiple times since the beginning of this century. And being district champions most years, would have more home playoff games than road ones.

Assuming Armwood is the correct answer, I have no idea who last beat them in the playoffs on their home field.

Upon reflection, I don't remember for sure, but Armwood and Booker T. Washington had many epic battles when they were in the south bracket of the same classification. They typically met in the semis and it is possible BTW may have one one of those at Armwood. It is not clear to me that the Wood has lost any playoff games at home in the past ten or more seasons on the field. But perhaps I am forgetting a game or two ...

  2. I had been looking for that game in the past. I had given up as I could not find it. Southridge should have been up by 21 at the end of the first half. But a combination of stout defending inside the 10 by Evans, penalties on the part of Southridge and three picks by Evans (two of the passes were poor decisions), and instead Southridge only has a 9 point lead at the half.

That allowed Evans to work its way back into the game via a long clock eating drive, a bomb and a short field touchdown setting the stage for the Ridge's final drive which lasted nearly eight minutes and ended with the QB just barely getting the ball over the line on fourth down with less than 10 seconds on the clock.

Watching the film, I realize how much the game has changed in Florida over the past 28 years.

Thanks for finding and posting this film!

Ik in our case we have called countless teams but most either won't budge on home game (DFB) or are scared to play us

Guess that's what happens when you get stuck with all 3 your district games being on the road

Sorry to hear you are a game short. Wekiva shows up as missing a game 8 on Max Preps. But that could be just an error. However, it may be worth a phone call. It would be two quality teams

    SEMINOLE*

    Flagler Palm Coast

    DeLand

    Spruce Creek

It was a spring game, and who knows what they will have and which team will have a bunch of transfers in. However, Spruce Creek impressed me greatly in the spring jamboree. They have a real chance of playing the same role Mandarin did last year. I am not saying I see them as state champions or runners up, but I would be surprised if they don't at least get to the second round (and probably at least the regional finals) of the playoffs.

Basically, they had no significant weaknesses and a number of solid footballers on the field.

Our qb depth is 4 can you believe that !! & they ALL are dangerous & starter worthy our rb goes 5 deep we have depth size & grit on the DL & OL our CBS are linky but athletic & aggressive which is how our defense got named “black hole” lol and we got a qb transfer from piper a few transfers from Deerfield.

Sometimes it is hard to handle that much depth as kids get frustrated by not getting enough playing time. Hopefully, this is managed properly as team chemistry is very important in sustaining a deep run. It would help if a number of the players are underclassmen who know their turn will come in the future.

Reading this just reminded my of just how Deep!! And talented we are my goodness! I didn’t even realize we got a few transfers as well including a QB from piper and a transfer or 2 from Deerfield.

Dillard has got people talking now and it’s taking notice added with new HC and former panther and Former jv coach Eddie Frazier at the helm Dillard is back in the talks like they were in the 90s and early 2000s and I’m here for it all it’s OUR TIME!!

@badbird @ColumbiaHighFan2017class @muckboy561 @954gator @A-Town 561 @DarterBlue2 What are you guys thoughts added with what you read in the link.

Blustein knows his talent. If he endorses Dillard, then rest assured the team is good. Like I said earlier, I expect Dillard to compete this year and the upside ceiling could be high. You have a right to be excited going into the season.

Its no hotter now than in past decades.  We are spoiled by air conditioning and less conditioned to being in the heat.

I disagree. Orlando, year round, is a good deal hotter than when I moved here 29 years ago. I can now plant avocados, coconuts, papaya  and mangoes in my backyard without fear that I will lose them to the winter frost. In the short run, that's a good thing as I love all types of fresh fruit and veggies. In the long run, probably not so much ... but I am old, so I will be gone before the funk hits the fan ...

So far Columbia has defeated East Ridge, Palatka, and St Cloud

Still have to face Celebration, Pk Yonge and Vanguard in pool play

Aside from Vanguard and Columbia, the field is pretty weak.

But (and not to completely change the subject of this thread), I'm also the guy who thinks Florida ought to go rogue and switch football and basketball seasons . . .  play the indoor game when it's hot and stormy outside and then play the outdoor game when the weather in Florida is just right for football.

I am in agreement with you. But it probably would never happen as it would affect football recruiting negatively vis a viz compared with other states to some degree, especially for the seniors that don't have a bunch of offers already approaching February (National signing day).

I get it would be a challenge in the metro areas.  Back when we started at 8:30 there were fewer schools than there are today and the season started later, usually end of September.  But it made for a way better experience. Fans didn't feel rushed to getting off work to get travel, attendance was better,

    1. Get the better experience since there would be less rush.

    2. But regarding attendance, in metro areas it probably would be worse as the games would be competing with other nocturnal activities.

  13. 2 hours ago, Hwy17 said:

Just wondering how many on here remember when 8:30 start times was the norm? Might not be a bad ideal to bring them back seeing how half the season is in August and September, which is still the rainy season and many games are get weather delayed.

I could deal with 8:30 for the first four weeks of the season including the KOC. It might reduce the number of rained out (lightening really) games.

After that, in large urban areas, it would not work for a number of reasons. So, I would then push it back an hour or an hour and a half.

I can live with that lol we still lead the county in championships lol.

But all jokes aside I think it’s coaching as well along with discipline & the desire to want to win.

What I have trouble with is that Dade public schools win championships consistently. It's not like Broward talent is inferior to Dade's. But Dade, aside from Columbus, and a few small private schools over the years, does not have the likes of AHP, ST. Thomas, Chaminade, etc taking talent in large numbers.

  15. 15 minutes ago, THIS_IS_DILLARD said:

That’s a HUGE PROBLEM.!! Transfers or not private schools or not that’s a MAJOR PROBLEM!! So basically in 17 years we’ve only had 3 public schools out of broward hoist a title.

And it’s been 4 in a half years since the last public school to do it. Just WOW.!

last 3 teams to win it public schools wise.

    flanagan “15”

    miramar “09”

    ely “02”

Too many very good private schools taking too much of the talent. That and the inability of Deerfield Beach to live up to its year in and year out hype. Maybe it's going to take a resurgent Dillard to shake things up!

A couple kick off classic’s involving out-of-state teams.

Cedar Grove GA at Miami Central

TC Williams VA at Spruce Creek

I like both of these two matchups. Spruce Creek probably has its best team ever and I am sure the Rockets will represent Florida well.
