Hmmm.. Bradford complains despite their FHSAA submitted numbers being 740 students, they will now be a 1A school, meanwhile Chipley with 635 and Crescent City with 615 students (cap is 600) don't merit a reduction to 1A but instead will be in 3A.
Now, Bradford is saying they are under the 600 person cap... if so, I hope somebody does a follow-up to check make sure school district is only getting their FTE for the below 600 number rather than the 740. They are saying that on 12/1/2020 that they were at 538, sadly the FHSAA has removed all previous population reports from the website when they updated it (why they feel the need to get rid of information from a website is beyond me). A nearly 200 person drop in students seems.... odd. Nearly 27% of the students, no longer enrolled at the school? I don't know but that seems like a lot. I have a theory on how it happened, but all I am saying is that there is a reason why schools are supposed to use their FTE numbers and not adjusted numbers. If it's ok for one then it's ok for any (numbers manipulation). Appears Chipley and Crescent City's leadership have scruples.

We'll never find out. Madison County is satisfied being the big fish in the little pond. They clearly don't want any part of being tested by equivalent competition.

Hey you guys shouldn’t be so down on Jesse. The Cowboys had a good year.
Madison county was the first 4A team since Madison county to qualify for the 1A playoffs.
That’s pretty cool. You don’t need a Charter school down the road education to realize that.
Best post of 2021 hands down

Coe - Yes - good coach.
"Jessie" - Yes - less than admirable qualities in posting.
Any other 1A schools doing what Madison is doing in order to skew their numbers to gain a competitive advantage?
No.

No idea. They are taking advantage of a loop hole. So even if he was it wouldn't change my opinion of him as a man. The state is to blame in allowing it to happen.
Good coach, no doubt... but "taking advantage of a loop hole" when doing so bestows an unfair advantage reflects poorly on his character.

You get on here and talk shit about programs and call them trash. I'll say it to your face all day everyday. I'll even meet you half way. Madison is a great program. Too bad they have a douchebag fan that ruins it. Coach Coe would even say it to your face.
You think Coe has nothing to do with the numbers game?

There's the reason Madison County manipulates their enrollment #'s in order to play in 1A - they can't match-up with the good teams in 4A and take the coward's way to (*) championships.

Not only did they lose, but to a school with only like 200 kids while Madison plays with 800. That was like David beating Goliath. Congrats to Hawthorne.
Slightly more than 200 for Hawthorne; a little over 700 for Madison County.

Again, I think the goal was to give everybody a chance to play football games this fall without having to worry about teams playing a specific number of games against specific opponents, determining district champions and reconciling RPI's for the teams that were adversely affected in different ways by Covid. And, of course, to maintain membership. Will there be inequities? Absolutely. Will there be playoff football? It appears so. In 2020, that's a fair trade off as far as I'm concerned.
That isn't the point.
The point is that a winless team, regardless how they achieved playoffs, should not host. In the same way the best team in NW Florida should not have to make the playoffs through a play in game.

Winless Choctawhatchee hosts first round playoff. Wow. And Niceville has to play-in.

Probably, the forecast is for several severe storms. Personally, I want the kids to stay safe. So, I am torn between wanting a season and thinking we should wait a year to when we have a vaccine.
Like the yearly flu vaccine that is usually 10% effective?

Some counties are beginning to restrict travel out of state and out of county. It appears there may be non-existent champions in spring sports this year.
