St. Francis Is supposed to be rated in the top 25 in the Nation while MC comes in the top 50.

Should be a very good game. Ny Homer pick takes MC by a TD.

Both will be top 25 in most, if not all the polls to start the season. SFA will most likely be top 5-7 range while Central could in 10-15 range.

On paper, Central has got to be the heavy favorite in 6A.  Without Carol City, Northwestern or Mainland in the way, I don't see anyone stopping them from getting to the final.  They were one of the biggest "winners" from the latest reclassification....in terms of getting an easier playoff path

They only have one "rated" lineman, but it seems like Central always has stout lines regardless of star-power.  Norland is in their district...will be interesting to see which Norland team shows up this year.  They have been a giant-killer in the past.  Southridge is in Central's district, too, but may not have the horsepower to challenge.

Poor Naples has had Northwestern in their way in the past.  Now they get Central in their region.

Should Central make it to state they could see Mainland in the final, which is nuts. That would be a home game for the Bucs. Thanks to the FHSAA. But Columbia and Gainesville could pose a challenge to Mainland in the north as well.

I spoke to Cedar Grove. He couldn’t give a definitive answer except they are for sure coming. Either way it’s gonna be a great doubleheader no matter how you match the teams.

Would have been cool to get 2 oos teams, because if Apopka plays one of the Miami teams it will have to be a preseason game that doesn’t count. The oos team is allowed to count towards the regular season

Yeah, I wish they could move the dates so that the games count on the season records.

It is for August 16th. When I asked if the opponent was Miami Central, the AD said he thinks so but it won’t be finalized until next week.

Booker T is a lot closer to enrollment to CG and Miami Central is a lot closer to Apopka. So it would make a little more sense.

How is Booker T supposed to be this year? Are they on their way back?

Ok. Which AD did you speak with? Apopka or CG? BTW should be better this season. I am hearing they got a transfer from MC at RB. Was #7 for MC last year. Kid is really fast. MC didn't use him like they should have. Would have been matchup nightmare if they had him as a slot WR.

I speak to the Cedar Grive coach from time to time. What week would this be? I know some out of state teams that may be interested.

I have heard the week as of yet. I could only assume it would be within the first couple of weeks. Might be week 0 or 1.

Yes, it is difficult for Hillsborough County teams to clear significant travel (even in-state) with the local school board administration.

It's probably one of the reasons Armwood has been pounded by Dade teams recently. In the early 2000s they held their own with the Booker T's of the world.

Yes I remember. They were a thorn in BTW's butt for a long time.

I said maybe. I'm not a troll, I just dont use this site 24/7 because I have a life.

I hope you realize that the reason I say this is because the IMG rematch with Miami Central was scheduled to happen LAST YEAR but IMG dropped them in favor of playing Superior Collegiate. They knew MC was going to beat them. No disrespect just facts. I'm not a coach and I really have no control over who plays who but the conditions are right for IMG to play MC this year.

I never said you were a troll and I'm sure you have a life. I just was trying to get clarity.

Venice has scheduled IMG and Cocoa for the 2019 season

Columbia will be playing Vero Beach

IMG vs Mater Dei rematch in Florida

Maybe a Miami Central vs IMG rematch

    Miami Central vs IMG???

    First I've heard of that...

  9. Good afternoon all,

The football re-class approximates will be out next month. What changes do you think will come about? Teams moving up or down in class? District mix-ups?

I am hoping Miami Central, Carol City, and Miami Northwestern all get placed in different classes. That might not fly with the "powers  that be". But it would be nice. They could still have their annual regular season battles. But to have all 3 of those teams in the same district with their enrollment numbers is far beyond time for change.

Does Central have 7A or 8A population stats? If so, then I totally agree with you. St Thomas and/or the 8A South teams would have their hands full.

Central has had a 7A population for at least 4 years. When the last re-class numbers came out they were projected to go but due to how the districts were estimated to be setup "8 or 9 teams" they stayed in 6A. I believe the basketball team plays in 7A.

  11. If the FHSAA was smart, which from recent actions shows that they are not. They would put Carol City in 5A which they should be based on population, keep Miami Northwestern in 6A, and move Miami Central to 7 or 8A. if all 3 or at least 2 make it their attendance would go through the roof, because they will all go to support each other. As bitter rivals we all are, one thing is for certain we support each other...As crazy as that may sound. At least 150 MC fans went to Orlando this weekend. That's probably more than Armwood had. It's a shame that you have those 3 teams in the same district. But if you split them up a few folks may not be happy with that. That would only reduce a few other teams chances of getting to state where cakewalks have been as of late.

    Northwestern accomplished the following today:

    • 11th Florida team and 4th Florida public school to win 6 state titles.
    • First public school ever to win back-to-back state titles in 2 different decades.
    • First team to ever shut out Armwood in 59 playoff games.
    • First team ever to record 3 shutouts in a state title game.
    • State title winner with 5 regular season losses.
    • Moved to #11 on list of teams with most playoff wins...54 wins.

They had 5 regular season losses in their first title run in '95. Went 0-5 to start and won 10 straight to end the season.

That's because district champs are seeded higher than wild cards during regionals

The higher point total hosts in semifinals but I'm not sure how they would manage a tie in points

Per section "C" if two teams have the same point total, team with most Cat. 1 wins gets the home game.

Don't quote me, but I thought the district winner would have it over the points.  Like Dillard won district and Central had to travel. Even though Central had more points.

District champion only comes into play for the first 3 rounds. Point averages come in with semi finals. Per the FHSAA football manual.

It's messed up, though.  I am happy for the Rockets if they host, but if two teams have identical points, maybe the best solution would be to just flip a coin!

I hear you. But guess this is where scheduling tough comes into play especially if you can get a win or two in the process.
