All rankings will work themselves out in playoffs

no they won't lol.  Only the champion in each class will.  Heck you might have a team miss the playoffs that is the best team in their class

You want to keep focusing on BTW...however let me give you two other teams that were in this same boat with BTW and they are seemingly doing alright: Madison County and Cocoa. All of Madison County's opponents except two are at least 3A or above. Madison has a win over a very quality 7A team (hey where are you @ColumbiaHighFan2017class?). BTW has to win a couple of those games. You can't say schedule games and expect to get in the playoffs if you can't win those games. Yeah, maybe there should have been bonus points for playing a team in a higher classification on top of bonus points for those teams you played that made the playoffs. But BTW has to win some. Plus BTW could have jumped to 5A-16 and had at least 6 guaranteed games. BTW had choices. They could have easily played in 5A. They gambled on it.

so the answer is to play in 5A?  So all the good teams 1-4A should just go to 5A?

    Columbia,

For what it's worth, I appreciate your weekly rankings. Nobody gets rankings 100% correct, and at the end of the day rankings are really message board fodder.  You're not going to make everybody happy. But, know you have my appreciation!

Would you rank team B over team A if team A beat team B by double digits and had no losses?  Rankings are hard especially when you have over 500 schools.  Just wish he was more logical in doing them and not show he's such a homer but I also appreciate them and try to add in my thoughts.

You have to go with what is there. Tomorrow night will change this again. It is very possible that we can have a second place team in a district miss the playoffs while the thrid place team makes it. All about SOS.

Josh it isn't really about SOS.  It is about how your opponents scheduled and how they did.   It doesn't matter how good a team really is.  BTW at 3-3 gives you less points than a Wildwood at 5-0.  Logically one would think BTW should give you more points if you play them but since BTW has a tough schedule and Wildwood has a cupcake schedule it would have been better to play Wildwood.

You had 1-9 teams making it in old system

Old one isn't better at least not in 5-8a

stop comparing old to new.  Both systems suck.  This one is better in 5A-8A and I'm not sure by how much.  At least in 5A-8A if you don't make it you can only blame yourself for not winning the district title. Overall it is not better because it is so brutal for 1A-4A and that's not really the point.  The point is it needs to be adjusted quickly.  Hopefully at the end of the season major changes are made.

So basically your saying your scared of playing any of the 4 teams in Dade? BTW Norland is 3-3 bout to be 4-3 after Friday... The system is suspect a bit right now but it is the first year of it... Atleast we ain’t gonna see 2-8 teams making the playoffs no mo...

Zoe you could have an 0-10 team make it in this new system.   It is highly unlikely but yes it is possible.  They would have to play all teams that finish 8-2 or better and made the playoffs in the 2 year window.  That would be a hell of a schedule but I could see BTW with a schedule like that.  However BTW isn't losing all 10.  They would also have to be in a very weak region probably in class 1A-4A where there are not many teams in the region.

That sec got as many contenders this year as acc

    1

I actually think they both have 2.  If Columbia is a contender then so is Georgia and Miami.  They both have about the same chance of winning.  Slim to none.

Auburn already lost to a acc team and I'm sure that same acc team would beat Georgia

yeah the only good one.  South Carolina beat NC State who beat FSU and Alabama ruined FSU's season.  So what's your point?

If that's the case wouldn't i also rank Suwannee and buchholz lol

no 50 spot bonus for them still has them outside the top 100 but I'm sure if you did a top 200 they would be highly inflated

  10. There are some regions where teams right now will get into the playoffs with under 33 points.  That means if I scheduled right I could go 0-10 and make the playoffs.  Wildwood being #2 in a region and BTW being out just shows you how messed up it is in 1A thru 4A.  It might work itself out but this just shows what could happen and it will if the system doesn't get adjusted.

This is certainly of the things in the new system that coaching staffs will have to adjust to when scheduling. Playing tough teams can backfire big time now, particularly in the lower classes that don't have districts. If you play the best, you have to beat them or be on the outside looking in.

so that will make it even harder for good teams to put together a schedule.  No one will want to play them because they can play the worst team in the state and get more points for winning that game.  I've been at a few good schools in my day as you know and had to put together a schedule.  It was really tough before to find 10 teams that would play us.  Going to be impossible next time if they don't adjust the points big time.
