Were all wins IN Florida? Billy Livings Veros old head coach had over 200 wins in state, and over 300 wins including his coaching time in AL. He retired in 2006 so it’d been close to around then.

I honestly don’t know, but do places like the ESPN/Disney sports complex or something in central FL charge a lot? Like if hypothetically speaking say a team from Palm Beach or Broward find neutral grounds there against a Columbia or Lincoln that’s a half way(ish) point so they don’t have to travel as far ever occur or get a few south teams and north teams to play there over a weekend? I know they do a lot of OOS games there but if 2 teams wanted to play is there a high cost? Just curious if anyone knows.

I know he’s not on the list but Khalil Mack of Ft Pierce (Westwood), didn’t play HS ball until his senior year and the coach had to bug him to even come out. He was trying to rely on basketball to get a scholarship before an injury derailed him. Rivals gave him 2 stars at the end of the season for his only campaign and the only scholarship he got was to Buffalo and that’s because his coaches had ties to the university. A few years later and the 5th overall pick we know his story now. Fun fact Mack originally played QB in his younger days!

Call it superstition but we ate Fat Boys BBQ every Friday before our games in ‘03 but because we had to travel earlier than normal when we played Venice that year in the playoffs we ate at Golden Corral in Okeechobee instead and got our butts whoooooped. Let’s hope it won’t be a repeat lol.

Anyone else getting these? I visit the site almost completely on mobile platforms usually my iPhone X or iPad and keep getting these, full screen and won’t go away. Will randomly load while I’m reading an article or thread in the forum and I have to close the page and revisit to continue. Highly annoying! Same ad every time.

Did some work out of Strasburg OH (That’s a small town) a guy I worked with his nephew was the QB there (Massillon) last year forget his name but I know he said football was second to religion there even the small town of strasburg (think it only had 2 stop lights) was all about football, I live in CO which sucks for local support now so it was nice seeing that small local atmosphere supporting not just football but all the high school sports, murals in buildings, painted store fronts, and yard signs cheering in the high school.

I’ve spent a good amount of time with work in that region it’s a big city... they did have a big beautiful stadium too, sadly I never got to see them play. I think when the original Friday Night Lights came out it portrayed it as small town but it’s huge now easily bigger than places like Melbourne, Palm Beach, Daytona etc. When I think of small town football I think of the likes of Pahokee (Muck Region in General), Rockledge, Immokalee, etc etc a town you might drive thru and stop in to get fuel and forget but that’s just my opinion

Disagree with Odessa/Midland area the city of Odessa is bigger than West Palm and that’s not including Midland shouldn’t be considered “small town”

I wanna say it was just a Red/White game back then. For whatever reason the game fell apart with who we were going to play, I forget who they tried to get it was a decent team from the Orlando region I believe.

I played in it lol that season sucked! Hurricanes had everything screwed up.

I know they own patents and many businesses people have no idea about. Everyone knows Halliburton but Schlumberger is actually over 2x the size of them, heck Darter I’m surprised you even know the term “Oil Service Company” most people have no idea about it but they know our other term the big bad F word... Yea but those are 2 different teams and eras of coaching I played in that game (Class of ‘04) I feel like if we aired it out more we could of pulled out a W. Venice dominated our run game then but we did move the ball when threw but didn’t get into that until too late, really one dimensional back then when we had good and capable QBs.

Yea as I said not familiar with those teams. Yea I moved around a bit and work globally the last 4 years I been based out of Prudhoe Bay, AK/ N America offshore working in the oil fields (for Schlumberger) so I get around a lot but FL is still my home at heart! Kicking around the idea of moving to Huntsville though at least they got decent football there.

I hope FL pulls a sweep, I live in SW CO now and the local team Montrose were state runner ups in there class a few years ago and most decent FL teams would of beat them easily throughout the season. It seems a lot of these CO teams beat each other up and walk with swagger but I’ve seen a lot of really bad coaching and lots of luck with no real test. Not much community support for the teams either, some schools yes but mostly not. Let them come and play and get an experience, not familiar with the FL teams but if they got decent coaching then we have a chance to sweep.

I agree I think the overall team Vero was better, offense for Riverview I thought did a good job freezing the def and grinding it out but Vero the individual play cost us. It wasn’t missed blocks or tackles it was the turnovers including that horrible pick six. I watched the game finally on YouTube playback later this weekend the camera didn’t SHO the whole field but it looked like Vero had overloaded the right side of the field and someone was open the q.b though did a quick look and then threw to the left side right into the DB with nothing but grass in his way to the end zone. And on that kickoff fumble from what I saw he didn’t show much ball security at all. These individual plays back to back really took the wind out of the team.

I was watching the YouTube feed on my phone saw that play and was trying to figure out why he threw the flag didn’t know if Granville said something to cause it. If it was because the ref thought he removed his own helmet then that’s BS every official and person in the stadium had their eyes on the ball which Glanville had just picked and saw what happened. SMH
