Say mannn idk… I don’t see where lakeland is actually that good this year. Norland has quite the talent pool. But i could just be on the outside looking in. Nonetheless i’ll be tuned in you guys youtube channel.

You don't have to see it.  Underestimate at your own peril.  Me and my ex-wife (Norland grad) have a bet right now on the outcome of this game.  She's talking mad $hit too, lol.  What has Norland done lately?  Please don't think transfers equal success, especially against Lakeland.

I tried to link the game in my first reply but it won't let me. You can find it on youtube along with other Highlanders and Dreadnaughts games from 2022

Maybe my search isn't comprehensive enough, but I've only been able to find LW/Columbia highlights but not the full game itself.

I kid you Naught, before church this morning I watched the LW/Columbia massacre, and the rained-shortened Lakeland/Armwood games from last season.

I still haven't seen the LW/Columbia game.  I just saw the score updates and thought to myself, "WOW".  I felt bad as I told @Jullian that would be the game to watch in Polk County!

Don’t stop singing the good song when you know that it’s right. We need a sensible transfer rule, fewer classifications, larger districts, and no Madison County-esque loopholes to crush smaller schools. Unfortunately, there still remains the small problem of convincing the FHSAA to listen to these demands before implementing them…

Who knows!  Maybe the recent changes in FHSAA oversight will lead to a more fruitful outcome.

Facts though man this season is going to be one for the decade. Especially excited to see norland put 50 on lakeland at their house. Replay of 15-16 CC game but except no excuses.

    Then you woke up!

Yes, I do. But the whole idea of these pre-season rankings done by computer sometimes with human intervention that can't possibly know what talent each team returns galls me.

I never said it made sense!  Polls, all polls, even the ones that benefited Lakeland have been entertainment for me.  The sheer amount of joy I get from seeing a lower-ranked team defeat a higher ranked team gives me goosebumps.  In my opinion, the only fair way to do a poll is to take the human aspect out of it and go strictly by records.  Will it be equitable for all?  Of course not.  However, it sickens me to see this national trend of ranking teams based on the number of highly rated players without proof of team production.  It's getting worse and honestly it's beyond asinine.

    True Nulli

It will be scorching hot Monday-Thursday the next 3 weeks, but come Friday you can bet the farm on rain, thunder, lightning. :(

Exactly!  Gulf and Atlantic systems converge over Central Florida like clockwork.  I'd be worried if it didn't happen.  Nothing more spectacular and frustrating than standing in the pressbox watching lightning over Lake Parker, lol.

No objective evidence that Miami Central is better than these teams? How about the fact that they play Gorman week 2 and CMD week 5 with the national championship on the line?  How about the fact that after they were top 4 nationally last year, are returning most of that team on top of numerous high-profile transfers? Or that if they go undefeated they will probably unseat Mater Dei for national champions? Are any of those subjective?

Venice and Central have green.  That's what it is, lol.  Seriously, Central has to prove it by winning, and do it convincingly to sway pollsters.  They also need to have luck on their side in that teams currently ranked above them need to drop a game (or two).  I wish the Rockets any any Florida team in the running all the best.

Nulli as a Lakeland grad why are you in such a hurry to start the 2023 season? P-cock and crew has already said the 4S trophy is theirs.

You and the Naughts might as well start preparing for 2024.

As we all know, the trophy has to be earned (for now).  If the fhsaa adds any more classes next year, it's over.  Staying on topic, talking about what's yours and taking what is yours are two different things.  We heard that STA were the Indians Achilles heel in the playoffs.  That obstacle no longer exists, soooooo...... :D.  That's for you @VeniceIndianFan!  Come get it!!!

The better indication of Florida's starting playoff ratings may be what calpreps has at the moment. Calpreps' current Florida ratings

I've never seen the point of a starting poll.  Coaching changes, student changes and most importantly, no games played.  From that, we are to believe that Calpreps or any outlet can accurately forecast and track who is the top dog.  The fun is we get to talk mess and defend why teams are too high or too low.

  11. Law or not, I guess I'm confused as to why this is a "thing" now.  I remember filling out paperwork for my children every school year and under name, there was a field for preferred name or nickname.  I damn sure remember when I was a student and those same options were present.  Yes, my parents made me fill out my own paperwork starting in junior high, lol.  I know I'm not the only one.:D

I don't get it. Long Beach Poly, Southlake Carroll and Lakeland were all winning at one point but nobody or maybe I'm wrong was saying anything.

Now you have Miami Central and it seems everyone is up in arms about them winning. By the way all of these are public schools not private schools.

I can't speak on LBP or Carroll.  Lakeland got talked about a lot and anyone around during that winning period has heard (or uttered) some of the things below:

    • Lakeland has an easy schedule
    • Lakeland is in a small 3-team district.
    • Lakeland is in a weak district.
    • Lakeland should play more S. Florida schools.
    • Lakeland should play more Dade schools.
    • Lakeland is the beneficiary of homecooking.
    • Lakeland is recruiting all of Polk County
    • Lakeland is overrated.

It comes with the territory.  When you're on top, people can't wait for you to fall down because they can't stand looking up.
