  1. Gatorman-UF, I do NOT believe the coach. I am inclined to believe that the officials did the right thing, but I have no proof at all. Two unsportsmanlike fouls on a player or coach is an automatic ejection. If what was described in the report actually happened, then the coach very quickly committed two unsportsmanlike fouls. I know the FHSAA very well, that Association does not render a penalty this severe unless something very egregious happened with the head coach. How do we expect high school kids to act in a sportsmanlike, and respectful manner when adult coaches cannot act in this way, and show some respect for authority?
  2. What is BS about it Jags904? Did you attend the game? Do you see what happened? Did you hear what happened? Where is the pathetic abuse of power? What absolutely awful things have you heard or seen officials doing? What do you report to the FHSAA?
  3. Skyway, by your own reasoning, that makes you utterly blind and/or hypocritical, since you apparently support athletic transfers, but oppose school choice.
  4. 561_Fan, could you provide some more examples of the problems that you had with the officiating? Thank you.
  5. HornetFan, I didn't mean to be rude, but a foul is ALWAYS at the discretion of the officials, that is what the officials role is in a football game. Also, Pro, and College Football Officiating cannot be compared to High School Football Officiating. The objectives are often different when comparing players who play for a living or on scholarship with teenage children many of whom will never play beyond this level.
  6. A block in the butt would be a clipping foul. Not to be confused with butt-blocking which is blocking against a non-runner with the front of the helmet.
  7. HornetFan, what authority HornetFan, what authority do you have to declare that whether a call is made is not at the discretion of the officials? What do you think that the officials role is during a High School Football game? A block in the back is a Player Safety foul, no matter where it occurs. Of course, a block in the back is a block with clear initial hands or arms below the shoulders, and above the waist of an opponent. Many times what coaches and fans believe is a block in the back, is not in fact so unless this is clear to the official. Also, a block in the back could be considered a Personal Foul is the action is well away for the play on the field.
  8. I believe that is what most officials would say why they officiate. To give back to the sport, and stay involved with football.
  9. Not especially, and I don't like to criticize or critique game officials. However, from the limited point-of-view of the video, I noticed more contact from the slot receiver than #10.
  10. Yes, aknenn, that is absolutely correct. I wish you all the best in your officiating career.
  11. Skyway, are you sure the foul was called on #10, and not the slot receiver?
  12. HornetFan, that is not entirely accurate. Player Safety fouls are always penalties wherever that occur on the field of play, end zone, or sideline. However, many judgment call type of fouls such as holding, OPI, or DPI, are not usually called unless these fouls have a direct effect on the play. Most Head Coaches agree with this reasoning, and it behooves most Officials to try to limit fouls to the absolute necessary with the obvious exception of player safety fouls.
  13. If the snap was a little high, the holder has some leeway to take his knee off the ground to retrieve the ball, and then get back on his knee to place the ball for the kicker. If the snap is normal, and the holder fumbles the ball, and gets off his knee, then the play would be dead immediately if the holder put his knee back on the ground.
  14. Holding, if the foul is not at the point-of-attack, motion, and delay of game fouls can be judgment calls. However, Personal Fouls, Chop Blocks, and Offside, if the foul is encroachment, are NOT judgment calls. These type of fouls are Player Safety fouls, and need to be called regardless of the score or status of the game. No official however should be looking to be seen or noticed. This game is about the players only. Not the officials or the coaches.
  15. Proseteye, what types of fouls were most frequently called by the officials in this game?
  16. The instance of Daytona Beach Mainland was that the talent was always there, but there was a lot of apathy, and most of the kids in that area had to work. When Doug Stanley became the Head Coach in 1989, he was able to go into the community, talk to employers, and get the talented kids to play football. Mainland was a sleeping giant until that point. Dan in Daytona would be able to expound on this point.
  17. Thank you for answering my questions Legion37, LakelandGator and Skyway.
  18. Skyway, what problem did you have with the hurdling call in the state title game? I viewed the game on youtube, but I don't remember that specific call.
  19. Legion37, how do you feel that the officials stopped Lakeland and the running clock.
  20. TRAJAN01, thank you for this information, but could you tell me what type of offense Madison County runs? Are they predominately a running team? Do they play with any sort of tempo? Do they run a no-huddle? What type of defense do they run? Thank you again.
  21. TRAJAN01, is there any more information that you could possibly provide about Madison County? Thank you.
  22. Peezy is a great addition. He is a solid, stand-up man, who always adds a lot.
