  1. Brought a team down to Brian Piccolo that we thought was pretty salty—held 9/12 previous opponents to under 7 points. It was 35-0 before we knew what hit us. Taking the initial punch and finding a way to settle in, IMO, is the recipe for success with them at home. Good luck to both teams—might have to take the trip down South for this one.
  2. Smart move. I paid the $15 for Vero-TC—unwatchable due to the technical glitches. Ended up just listening on the radio.
  3. Hate to hear this, Don. I hope those boys make it a point to “line up correctly” for a great man and mentor, Coach George Zaleuke.

  5. A couple notes from my end: 1. Disheartening to see that Vero’s three best players (Jacobs, Smith, Monds) were all at Ft. Pierce Westwood last year. This is not a knock on Lenny or the Vero Beach program—it happens everywhere. Just an overall assessment of the nature of high school football as a whole. Not the same game I grew up with. 2. Sad to see Vero’s YouTube broadcast get kicked to the curb. I get it—if people are willing to pay $15/game, as an athletic department, you do it. That said, the YouTube broadcasts were quite enjoyable. While I’m sure the partnership with the FM radio station will be more professional, they will surely lose some of the fun-loving homer-like tendencies from the YouTube crew. Became a staple of my Friday night’s on the couch—it will be missed. Fun game last night. Thanks to the Brevard Sports Network for allowing us in.
  6. If there is a criticism, offensively-speaking, I think it lies in needing more Bobby McMillan last night. 56, while active, played upfield all night, allowing himself to be incredibly susceptible to the trap game. Saw Lenny exploit this on a few occasions--just thought there was more to be had in this regard. But, decisions like this are why they pay Coach J the big bucks and I am an XDC. Couple of general notes about the Vero program: 1. Is there a better public school job in Indian River, Martin, Palm Beach, or Broward County? I say no. 2. Remain impressed with Vero's commitment to their YouTube broadcasts. While certainly an acquired taste, Todd Wood has grown on me over the years. A lot to be proud of in Vero Beach.

    Playoffs

So, what happens if my team has to enter quarantine a day before the first round of the playoffs? How about the day before the state championship? Forfeit? Push the entire bracket back two weeks? Hope I’m wrong, but I just don’t see it.

    Playoffs

“TCPalm asked the FHSAA last week what will happen if a team is forced to quarantine during the postseason because of a COVID-19 related issue. The response was short. "We are not able to provide answers to a hypothetical situation without having all the facts surrounding the situation," FHSAA public relations specialist Ashton Moseley said in an email.” -Jon Santucci (TCPalm)
  9. Unfortunately, you might not get the opportunity, Naitch. As a previous posted alluded to, I’m afraid this season will be marked by a constant start-stop cycle. Hoping for the best, but I just don’t see how any semblance of a season can happen in this current climate.
  10. Hey, @THIS_IS_DILLARD. You got some ‘splainin do, young man!
  11. I was looking forward to some quality football tonight. Didn’t get it. Turned it off after three. Chaminade is incompetent on offense. If this is the fifth best team in the state, as ranked by @Joshua Wilson, we (the state of Florida) are in trouble.
  12. Not sure "outstanding" is the best word to describe the Vero Beach defense. I get that Treasure Coast has a unique offensive approach. But, in the words of Nick Saban, Treasure Coast ran through Vero's defense "like shit through a tin horn." They had their way with them, and if it wasn't for HC Irvin Jones' faulty thought process on two-point conversions, Vero takes an L last week. Look, Vero Beach might prove me wrong tonight. I just haven't been impressed thus far.
  13. This is the worst Chaminade team since 2015. And to be honest, that 2015 team might beat the outfit walking into the Citrus Bowl tonight. That said, I have watched a ton of Vero since they began streaming their games on YouTube--this is also their worst team in recent memory. Vero needs to win a game like this. Excited to have a cold one and watch this one play out this evening. Good luck to both teams.
  14. From a streaming perspective, it looks to be a messy week. As always, if you see anything pop up, please reply so that I can add it to the list. 15. Reminder: if you come across a stream at some point this evening, just post it on this thread and I will add to the original post.
  16. Going to do my best to compile a list of available streams, both free and paid (NFHS), for each week of the season. There is nothing like sitting in the stands watching a high school football game. BUT, there is also nothing like a sitting on the couch, cold beer in hand, streaming 5-10 of the best games in the state NFL RedZone-style. If you know of any other streams, please let me know so that I can update the original post. Here is what I've got so far: NFHS (Plenty more--just highlighting some of the bigger games available) 1. 17. Any good streams aside from the two blowouts (Lakeland/Vero)?
  18. Losing track of what is really important here: there is absolutely NO WAY that Dillard trots out a DL that averages 6'6 400+. Pure and utter blasphemy. I legitimately belly-laughed when I read that. Absolutely no shot.
  19. And STA's kryptonite: Miramar. 4-3 against Miramar in the last seven years. I'm sure Harriott and company aren't too pleased with that.
  20. Check out the supplements for RD and company. He is probably going to make 120k+. Most of his assistants will have coaching supplements between 10-15k. Pretty sweet deal! Supplements are for one year only and are not included when base salary is computed. The principal must recommend a particular individual for a specific supplement each school year; no continuing service status in the supplement position is implied or should be assumed by the individual receiving a supplement. Supplements expressed as a percentage are to be computed by applying the stated percentage rate to the state teacher salary matrix, bachelor's degree and years of experience at 187 days. 21. @gatorman-uf, I watched the same game. IMO, there was not a single Division 1 football player on the field that night. I've seen a bunch of King's over the past few years. I really respect their HC--they are very well-coached on offense, and I think he does a really good job with what he has. But there is a reason those players don't have high-level offers: they are good high school players that play against below average South Florida competition. So addressing your initial question, no, I do not believe production on the football field means colleges should come and recruit. I think colleges understand the type of kid that is there. They understand the type of football that is being played in their conference. End of the day, a kid has to fit a profile, and the majority of kids at King's just don't fit it. That said, I feel for these kids, and for that matter, all of the kids who get the short end of the stick in the recruiting game. All the holier than thou stuff you see from college coaches on Twitter is the furthest thing from the truth. Generally speaking, coaches need and recruit "dudes," and they could care less about what comes with it.
  22. Just being completely honest, @VeniceIndiansFootball: I don't see how Venice stays in this game. They looked really slow against a Vero Beach team that ended up being pretty average. You never know, but if I was a betting man, I would bet that this one gets ugly. Hope I'm wrong--I will be on the Visitors side tomorrow night--would love to see a great game. Good luck to both teams involved.
