  1. The suburb idea is just a way to give a few suburb schools who are really great but cant get past a metro private juggernaut a state championship. Does nothing to enhance competitive balance at all. This affects maybe 10 schools and sacrifices alot more metro schools who don't get transfers to the wolves. Will lead to mass defection of teams out of FHSAA in football. All just so a couple of suburb schools can act like a real state champ. Pathetic.
  2. The next question i have if this bad idea passes. What will FHSAA do when same 2 or 3 teams in all 9 divisions win state every year?
  3. Teams will leave the FHSAA in droves for Football in both metro and suburban because the haves will be more concentrated into same districts making it nearly impossible for have nots to get through that tough a schedule . The George Jenkins example listed above proves that. It seems like other better alternatives are being ignored for this joke plan because it has been around for a whole 2 years. pathetic.
  4. Here is what will happen when this idiot plan passes. The same teams will win state just like now but the regular season matchups in district will be even more tilted lopsided games because teams are being put into larger divisions with larger discrepancies in enrollment and recruiting level. The. Many teams will leave FHSAA in football and be independent. What other option do teams that don’t recruit have? The suburban schools will then complain when their divisions are dominated by same teams and ask for a new country metro suburban plan.
  5. No i do not think that privates are the only one to recruit. They just win most of the state championships. The public schools in major area recruit like crazy and usually one school becomes the it school and they all flock there. Sort of like Miami Central, Jax Lee, Naples , Lakeland. Dr. Phillips. That why the football factory schools should be moved into same class according to win percentage and playoff results. If you do that, then no reason to separate private schools. Have all football factories playing each other. Place other schools in the rest of the divisions by wins as well and move teams up and down every two years. Sort of like international soccer leagues do it..
  6. The elite teams will crush everyone else just like always. Separate the Private schools into own divisions and then do competitive shuffling for rest of state and you will get rue parity and the recruiting power houses get to destroy each other instead of the schools that do not cheat or do not have advantage or 7 d- 1 recruits magically appearing at their school for academic reasons.
  7. Sorry add Chaminade to whatever division they are in. Just trying to show point that the whole idea is to create parity but will still have same state champs every year in same division but you will get more blowouts in districts because you are putting teams in same district who have vastly different enrollments. Not even adding fact of the recruiting teams advantages.
  8. Cocoa should order their state rings now since they have no competition in their new suburb division. Their jv team would make semi finals.
  9. After looking at each possible division. Here is a simple breakdown of who the state champs will be every year. Metro 1 Jax Trinity or Champagnat Suburban- Madison 2 Miami central or Cardinal gibbons Victory Christian or John Carrol 3 St. Thomas Aquinas or Northwestern Cocoa every year- no competition at all and might win by 100 4 Apopka versus Columbus yearly Mainland , St, Augustine , or Naples Venice / Osceola classic yearly Please explain how this will lead to great Parity. There will be less. I would bet these team listed above win 95% of the next 2 year state championships. Heck, don't even bother playing the season. Just play the state championships week 1 and let all other contests be scrimmages like the spring games. The private schools will win 4 to 5 state championship a year. Easy solution is to place privates in own division and move teams up and down divisions based on success or failure. Too hard for the FHSAA to figure out.
  10. One last point. The metro suburban plan does not address the private school dominance issue at all. They will continue to win most of the state championships.
  11. What does this proposal due to stop recruiting? Nothing, there are some teams in suburban divisions who recruit big time and are dominant in their districts and regions. They will destroy the competition in most of the divisions and have huge blowouts just like now. Then what about metro schools who don’t recruit. This idea makes them lambs for slaughter as they will never win any district games and get a running clock in most of the games. This idea does not solve any problem but will create all new ones.
  12. Two issues with this dumb idea. You will get the same five teams winning the suburban divisions and the metro. Just look at some possible breakdowns and same teams will win so you are not solving the problem. The best teams need to move up and bad teams move down to create super divisions at top is only way for true balance. Also. Now you are squeezing all the metro teams into four divisions and suburban into five so now you have huge enrollment differences between teams so the gap will be even worse in the for many teams who will have no chance to compete. Some teams will have almost double the enrollment of other teams. Blow this idea up and research real way to make the game better .
  13. I dont remember a bye between the semi-finals and state final? whats up with that?
  14. MC has been a thorn in Naples side for years. Remember amazing comeback by MC at Naples where MC was down three scores and went off with the two amazing rbs and converted a fourth and 20 to come back. MC favored but not as easy of a victory tonight and past two games. Not playing t Powell stadium may be the difference.
  15. Naples schedule is weak except for the riverview team. Miami central has seen them before and knows how to stop the triple option. Dillard better hop MC wins because they may get crushed by Naples option if the Naples wins.
  16. The lower division issue stems from a few powerhouses who recruit having loaded teams with like 7 d-1 players versus a team with no college players at all and that what started this whole mess. Same issue in many other states as well. Easy solution is too have a winning multiplier where a low division team has to bump up a division if they finish in top 8 two years in a row and have those team play up. As for the issue of 8A , it has a problem where high enrollment teams are sometime twice as big in enrollment as the low end of the classification. This was not a problem when football participation numbers were much higher for all schools. Now many 7A and 8A teams are struggling to fill a freshman and JV team and it is going to make the discrepancy even worse in the future. Its not fair a term has 4500 to 5000 students compared to 2500 but noone bothers to complain about that or threaten to leave to FHSAA at that level. It will become a issue soon.
  17. Main problem with the Playoff system is similar to last years. If your district has a few dogs in it, than you have a tough time at getting a wildcard playoff spot, so you have to win the district. I liked the old system better but would have somehow had a wildcard 3 way shootout for one of the spots for great teams stuck in a killer district. Also, I would not have had district champ and runner up face until third round instead of second. We created more problems with the playoff system than we solved. You know the system is lousy when they have changed it every year since it started.
  18. The main issue in 8 A is that the enrollment disparity can be quite large between the bottom end and top end of 8A. A school with 3800 playing a school with 2400 should have an advantage with 1400 more kids. i know enrollment size does not equal success on the football field , but with the dropping numbers of players, it cant hurt. Between CTE and negative press , moms are switching their sons to laX. I am surprised some of the low end 8 a schools did not drop out to indy.
  19. Winter Park will dominate their district. They openly recruited numerous players last year with payments for housing and other violations and did not even get a slap on the wrist by the state. Timber creek is way down and the other teams are also rans. Talent at Hagerty is much less than new coaches old school Oviedo.
  20. Coach Darlington has had a great run at APK. Good luck to him if he gets the job. All coaches message seem to be stale after 7-10 years. Question is...Who gets the APK job if he leaves and do they still try to run the single wing?
  21. The FHSAA should reinstate 3 team playoffs for tiebreakers when neither team beat the other two. Let them decide it on the field and not the hocus pocus of points that are favorable to teams in smaller districts.
  22. Last year, you were upset that your team did not make the playoffs under the new system when they would have made it under the old runner-up system. i understand the frustration but the FHSAA made the points system a complete debacle this year increasing points for losses and it led to teams earning more points for losing a game than for the team who beat which is absurd. West Orange had its own playoff destiny in its hands last year and lost 4 games so it was hard to feel too bad for you. For the record, i liked old system where runner-up made it and there were wild cards for super tough districts.
  23. The FHSAA should also bring back the 3 way tiebreakers if three teams tie a district and none of them beat the other two. What would it hurt to settle it on the field on Monday after week 9 instead of the obviously flawed points system.
  24. The new system can be fixed in a easy way. Make all districts at least 6 teams instead of some with 4 and some with 7. This will stop hurting teams in large districts who have a certain number of guaranteed losses compared to 4 team districts. Next, make losing to a tier four team back to 30 instead of 35 to stop teams who lose a game from gaining more points than beating a team form lower tier.
  25. Check Lake Mary points because I have them as 8 seed even if they lose at 39.3. The fact that they can get in with 5 losses shows that the points for losses should have never been raised. FHSAA better change it for next year. My rant from earlier posts cover that teams can beat other teams and get less points as the winner versus the loser.
