In 2019 NW played IMG the best , in recent history. They were down 3-0 at the half. A 21-0 run for IMG in the 3rd, which I believe, was started with a punt return for a TD. Bulls held em scoreless in the 2cd & 4th qtr. They lost 24-7.

I’m not angry with what I saw last night. I was actually happy with how our defense played. Special teams gave up a touchdown on the first play of the game and another in the third quarter. The offensive line needs to improve in a hurry. We knew that coming into the game as 4 of our 5 players were new.  The offense couldn’t stay on the field because there was almost no running room and Brook was getting pressure on almost every play, leading to fumbles and a pick-6.
All of the Ascender’s first half points came in the first quarter. IMG’s offense was completely shut down in the second quarter. Our offense started to gain a rhythm and they put together a drive to get a field goal, and then another drive that got them to IMG’s 30 before a fumble. There was talk in the stands of a potential comeback, but IMG slammed the door on us with the fumble and then a good drive that got them into the endzone.
In the second half IMG started running the ball just to take the air out of the game. I’m glad that Venice played IMG because they exposed a lot of areas that we need to work on. It’s all up from here. We will be better from this game, no doubt!

That was the first game that the QB had with this group, he got better as the game progressed and Suwannee only TD came on a fumble recovery on Columbia first drive

Defense held it's own throughout the game only giving up 3 points and Columbia is still down a 3* WR

They will get better when he gets back but at least the defense is in a good spot currently

I'm starting to think that people change the narrative to justify their desire to drag a program like Columbia down because they are the program who isn't supposed to be good after all that's why every year it's "well you all gonna suck" "you don't have it anymore" "Lake City will always be failures"

At the end of the day I will point to 2015 when Columbia got smashed in their KOC then went to the final 4, Columbia the next year beat the same team who blasted them but they went 7-4 and had a second round exit. Columbia is erratic at times in the preseason but I'm not worried in the slightest, they will figure it out because this is a good coaching staff and this is a consistent good program that wins year in and year out no matter who graduates or who transfers in or out

Let's talk about another so called bad ass in Jacksonville who got beat 40-0 tonight

@nolebull813Riverside lost 40-0 to Bartram tonight, still think I ranked them wrong now? LMAO

They do have a few names that are unfamiliar to me. Trinity, being a parochial school, always gets students transferring from public schools or where parents that move to Ocala from other cities and states and want their son to go to a parochial school. So, the team reflects those situations. We do play some tough opponents this season in Buchholz, FSU HS, Clearwater Central Catholic, Gainesville, and Raines.

Dillard 1st win ever over MIAMI Norland 0-2 coming in.

observations - our defense is F’ing LEGIT! 9 sacks in total on tonight & they’re STR8 DAWGS up front. Miami Norland is very good and FAST! They’re Qb EJ is gonna cause defenses hell this year.

OFFENSE - they’re much bigger and faster , O-LINES looks vastly improved. Although you can tell this was their first game against another opponent since homestead.

left 14 points on the field. Our RB Johnson that man is gonna be a PROBLEM for defenses this year. Our game plan was very vanilla as expected this game was 28-7 when the starters was pulled.

lastly “ANYTIME we get a win IN DADE my DAY IS MADE” lol hahahaha. Dillard is (2-0) in theyre last 2 trips to the Mecca (0-3) prior. CONGRATS PANTHERS!! Let’s get ready for our first out of state opponent since 2013 in our home opener. @VeniceIndiansFootball @FBGUY1989 @cribboy305 @Jullian

Lol Venice does all this tranfers. Giant population in the school. And this yall best team in history. 42 players went D1 from madison county in 2002 to 2009, Mike coe 2010 to 2022 over 60 D1 players. Florida state loves madison.

I didn't go to any games in 2020. Lakeland should win even if CAI sticks around for a little while. I think you are jumping out of your seat over nothing. CAI is not an IMG or any other such program. They are much more on par with a Venice or Osceola than an IMG or SFA. They have a good team that might give you some trouble in the first half, but Lakeland will pull away eventually. They play Venice as well in the season finale so we will see just how good they are.
  16. Thanks

This is what I figured: your opinion of CAI is based mostly (entirely?) on what you saw in the plague year. Make no mistake, if CAI is going to be a facsimile of the 2020 team, I wouldn't be the least bit worried. Unless Lakeland-playing, presumably, by this same set of new rules- is a facsimile of its 2020 team, in which case all bets are off!
Point is, neither school will be bring their 2020 teams to Bryant Stadium for this game.CAI was 3-6 in 2020; in 2021 their two losses were road games to state champions. Word is, the 2022 team will be their best ever, perhaps by far. Certainly, they have awesome size in the trenches. They have good looking Canadian QBs.  I was at UF when Jesse Palmer came down and threw it around the Swamp for Spurrier, so the Canadian part doesn't automatically tell me they are lesser players.
Above all else, I am extremely suspicious of anyone who speaks with total confidence about what their 2022 team will look like given the abundance of players they have none of us have ever seen (unless we were watching football in Canada, Sweden etc). The more confident one seems when speaking of this particular team, the less regard I have for their takes. Because I know they're full of it, much more so than all of us already are when we talk about teams with American-born players.

CAI has been ok in recent years. I know some people may see that “international” word and jump out of their seats, but they are not a Mater Dei or SFA by any means. Most of their players seem to be from Canada and from a few various states around the US. Not sure if they will be any better this season than they were in 2020 when they played us. If Lakeland has a good game plan, which they always do with Coach Castle at the helm, then don’t even sweat CAI as Lakeland should defeat them without too much trouble.

IMG won’t be on ESPN, but St. Frances week 4 will. It was originally scheduled for week 1 but Miami NW wanted to play Week 1 so IMG decided to play in the preseason instead. So we were left with SFA vs Venice on ESPN.
If Venice manages to defeat St. Frances on ESPN, that will be the loudest HSFB Stadium you will ever hear. I will be there in green gear from head to toe with my friend to root the Indians on!

I’m very excited, I can’t wait to see what the 2022 Venice squad can do. If they start out hot and pick up the win against IMG, that would set the tone for the rest of the season for sure. Just have to take it one game at a time. But I wouldn’t mind both Venice and their opponent going in undefeated into Week 4...

Of course they are more loaded than an average HS Football team. They practice football 5 hours a day with some of the best nutrition and workout plans in the world and get transfers from all across the globe. Why wouldn’t they be? They have earned what they are. But I don’t think Venice is going to get absolutely slaughtered. I think they will at least remain competitive for a half, if nothing else.
And no, IMG is not going to obliterate Miami Central. MC is the best team in the state coming into the season. Their returning class from last year is still mostly in tact on top of the bevy of transfers that they have received. In 2017, Central was a blocked punt (a self-inflicted wound,) away from winning the game! This Central team is going to be even better than the 2017 team. You can believe I will be rooting for the Rockets to get that W!

Jesse reacted to skyway in An alternative approach to assessing talent on teams
An idea I had to try to evaluate the strength of teams was to look at their rosters on hudl and count the players with a lot of views of their highlights. It's certainly not a fool-proof way to go about evaluating teams. Some great players may still be relative unknowns and some guys who aren't very good may have gamed the system to rack up a lot of views. And some schools may have some guys missing, or extra guys on who don't belong. If the player was class of 2022 (or deceased in one case) I didn't count those. But, in all, I think it may be the best way to get an idea for the mixture of talent and experience teams have (more inexperienced players have fewer views obviously). I went with a somewhat random number of 1,000 views as a minimum. So, of course players with over 950 views, but less than 1,000, get shortchanged this way. But, have to draw a line somewhere! There are some surprises, though people can obviously interpret those as proof this isn't a great way to evaluate teams. The season will reveal whether that's correct or not.
Here's what I've found so far, I will try to add more and make corrections if needed in time:
Players with at or more than 1,000 views:
    IMG- 51
    STA - 36
    Chaminade Madonna- 23
    Lakeland- 21
Clearwater Academy International- 21 (4 also over 950)
    Mater Dei- 18
    Saint Frances - 17
    American Heritage- 17
    Cardinal gibbons- 16
    Dillard- 14
    Miami Palmetto- 11
    Seminole- 11
    Venice- 10
    Miami Central- 10
    Tampa Jesuit- 10
    Kiss. Osceola- 9
    Edgewater- 5
    Miami Northwestern- 5
    Lake City Columbia- 5
    Madison County- 0
St. John Bosco- error, players clearly missing
It will be interesting to see if this list ends up telling us anything about how good these teams will be or not.
