I get it they use to be a national powerhouse with national championships & state championships but they are NOT that team this year. They are (4-4) for Christ sake. No matter how your shake it (4-4) is (4-4). They were running clocked by chaminade, they were running clocked by central, they lost by DBL digits to Columbus, they got blew out by homestead like again I know you’re holding out hope they turn the corner based off their history but bro for this year & this year only they’re just not that team with or without Tyga. Vs homestead he was single handily responsible for 6 out of 8 of their turnovers! But yet they’re ahead of Dillard because they beat Venice week 2? Lol. 

It’s because teams their own size won’t play them. They are forced to venture out. There isn’t a lot of good football in North Florida, so when a team is good, the teams around them won’t play them. They aren’t in a large metro area with 100 teams in a 50 mile radius, so it’s especially tough to find competition 

No they schedule like this every year. And they largely compete. This year it so much

Honestly, for as long as I can recall we have never scheduled bad teams for the reasons you enumerate.  We schedule St. Cloud due to a long standing tradition (no longer a real rivalry) as the fans want it.  The games you describe are always assigned district matchups.  We may schedule teams we are favored against, tossups or slight underdogs as well as those ranked significantly ahead of us.  If you want to truly compete in the playoffs it is what you MUST DO!

Thanks for all the history on Poinciana HS football.  They have really struggled over the last few decades and it would be refreshing to see them make progress where they can compete with the vast majority of schools around the state.  The talent pool is there and they just need to hang on to majority of their good players to move in that direction.  Coach Beek appears to have his heart in the effort and players see that and respond in kind.
