Didn't even have to look off defenders. QB zoned in. CCC is very, very good sqaud but NOTHING like BG. I like CM, just may not be up to the task of representing FL in the GEICO. I'd rather see Central, STA, or even Lakeland (provided they get past the gamers down in Venice, who always show up and play well, with their most talented or undertalented teams).

fam it was 32-7 at half. cent got in and out.
well, they better be prepared to play for 48 minutes if they wanna beat American Heritage

There should be some great games:
1. Venice v Lakeland
2. Apk v Columbus
3. AHP v Central
And props to CCC for getting to title game.

39-21. like I said, Lakewood is a good ball club. They beat most of the people left in the playoffs.

I don't think Lakewood has a chance against Central furthermore how did they even make it this far
They’re actually pretty good. They are not on central’s level. But they are a very very good high school football team.

Palmetto had Central beat a few years back at Palmetto but let it slip away right at the end. Don’t be surprised if Lakewood keeps it close for a half. Game is down south so that will be a factor.

Robinson and Godby went at it 2012 after the game. But same thing, a lot of jawing and not much in the way of “danger” to the kids. It’s unfortunate but sometimes it happens after heated playoff games. Hell, Dwyer and STA had a full fledged brawl in the 2016 playoffs and there were almost no suspensions.

Doe not look like much happened. Unfortunate for the kids but doesn’t seem like safety was really an issue. Bad sportsmanship yes, but safety no.

Gainesville doesn't want it and the only stadium in Gainesville they could use would be UF stadium and the finals coincides with the fall graduation so they wouldn't have availability that weekend
Maybe lake city should build a 15,000 seat stadium right off I 75. There’s already a lot of little hotels right there. Add a few more and you’ve got a perfect location for finals
-
They should play the suburban classes in Gainesville. They should play the metro classes in Fort Lauderdale. That makes the most sense

The football side can be informative and very funny at times. The Off-Topic is depressing, tiring, and enraging.
I haven’t posted in the off-topic in forever. I don’t even open it anymore. It just pisses me off. But half the people on the off topic are pissed off one way or another, depending on the nature of the post. I guess it’s a necessary evil because it prevents it from slipping over to the other board. Much easier than outright banning or deleting. That’s too time-consuming.

I'm surprised you even post on a board who allows a certain liars on there like lowndes punk 96, lying router, ambient Finchi and crying RedCajun to run wild just because they are stuck in their ways and don't respect anyone else to begin with
it's also sad when liars are given immunity just because they won't post on a rival board that's the type of stuff that makes me have no interest whatsoever in posting there
It’s been very civil on there lately…

But didn't Gadsen County make the playoffs at 0-10 a couple years ago as a runner-up? Not saying that your opinion is without merit, but I don't think that a runner-up who finishes 2-8 or similar automatically ought to get a playoff berth; much less deserve to host a playoff game.
You have to go back to previous conversations on this. I'm never for districts with less than 6 teams. 7 or 8 would be ideal. The Gadsen example can never happen in a sane world. That was the product of too many classes and the FHSAA being oversensitive to teams having to get on a bus to go and play...

Legitimate seeding is mostly found in pro sports and is based solely on records and nothing else. It’s not a group of nerds getting together to decide who should be ranked higher than somebody else. In the NCAA it’s necessary for basketball because there are so many teams. In college football it’s subjective nonsense based on trying to get the most attractive TV matchups. In high school it’s not a very good idea. Best ways is for a District champ and District runner-up to qualify and then you move up and down the bracket. The same applies to everyone and can change year to year. If a great team has to go on the road to beat a mediocre team so be it.
Again, my opinion.

So 9-1 teams should have to travel to 4-6 teams they already beat during the season ON THE ROAD just because "well your on the top of the bracket this year and we don't want to hurt this teams feelings by telling them they didn't actually earn the right to host and are only hosting because we have the creative mindset of a chimpmunk with a bracket that's barely good enough for a middle school playoff much less the high school playoff bracket in THE BEST FOOTBALL STATE IN THE COUNTRY"
If a team wants to host they gotta win during the season, in Columbia case (even though Friday proved they were better than Escambia by beating Escambia in Pensacola and should have been the 2 seed) they did travel and win and now are highest seed left and get to play at home
you seem to be having a problem with reading comprehension lately. I said I kind of liked it when it happened. It made good teams go on the road and get tougher in the playoffs. Endless debate gets us nowhere. I’m gonna have my opinions and you’re gonna have yours. Good luck to your Tigers. Hopefully they can beat choctow so you have something to root for for another week.
-
Maybe. Home field is big in the playoffs and mostly home teams won. District champs having home field occurs regardless. Difference with seedings is you play at the higher seed after the first round as opposed to traveling up or down the bracket as in years past.
I kind of liked it when the perceived favorite travelled to another district champ up or down the bracket. Made that favorite prove it through adversity and made them better for the Final.

As already pointed out if that was the case it would be saying that Suwannee has the same ability to compete for a state title of get the necessary pieces as Miami Central (which is never at capacity and can get kids from throughout Dade County and even from Broward County if a kid wants to find transportation)
That logic doesn't hold up and I can list tons of examples if I can figure out where the FHSAA posted the student population numbers
Definitely have different opinions on this. I still think the best way is to put teams in classes based on population. Not all of Hillsborough is at capacity. some examples of schools in the Tampa area not at capacity and still underperforming in football would include schools like Brandon, Spoto, Chamberlain, Blake, and believe it or not even Jefferson. Open transfers are not the panacea they are made out to be.
And nine classes are simply too many; we could probably get away with four public school classes, two private school classes, and one elite open class. Limit it to say 24 teams and everybody makes the postseason with a first round bye for the best 8. This could be public schools and private schools that consistently win. They can schedule who they want in the regular season because there would be no district and everybody would qualify for the playoffs. Teams could be moved in and out of this based on their yearly performance.

I respectfully disagree @nolebull813. The biggest thing is here is open enrollment which was NOT an issue 15-20 years ago. That is a massive issue in larger areas teams can get really good and keep adding talent and then when you get that matchup between two similar sized schools in a state championship with one from South Florida and one from where ever in North or Central Florida, there is a mismatch.
Please tell me how a team like Suwannee who has 1,112 students and Miami Central who has 1,396 students are on the same leveled playing? They are not. No way they are not. You cannot even compare a rural-type school in Suwannee to a Miami Central in the middle of Miami. There is no comparison. It is night and day between the two.
It's a myth in some urban areas because schools are at capacity and "open transfers" are not really an option. So on paper, maybe there's an argument, but in reality, the rules don't apply to all schools.
Classes based on population, IMO, are still the best alternative? What do you do with super teams like STA, AHP, Chaminade, TC, IMG, etc etc? Put them in an open private school class. What do you do with an MC? A small school that is oozing with FB talent? Give them the option of playing in the open class or in the largest class.
Not perfect, but the current system is screwy. I mean, whats the difference between Lakeland and Plant or Armwood. No reason to separate these schools. Lakeland is in a county with 700K and borders Hillsborough, which has 1.4M. If kids want to get to Lakeland, they will.

parity for sure
Polk County Fun fact

Posted
it’s population per square mile:
Pinellas 3425
Miami Dade 1070
Hillsborough 1429
Orange 1494
Polk 414
but Pinellas county has a large elderly population, so it’s deceiving.
