I'm very unbias

I have to agree with the sentiment that the landscape has just changed over time. When I am looking for sports stories, I'm not waiting until the next day to read them in a physical newspaper. I'm on whatever site is covering it.
 
The landscape of prep football coverage has changed as well. If you look at newspapers back in the 50's & 60's, many of them would cover some of the bigger games state-wide. The St. Pete Times used to regularly cover the Lakeland games and Manatee games, since they were big games in the state, even though those areas had their own newspaper coverage.
 
In my opinion, there are positives and negatives to the change in coverage. High school football used to be a community event, where most games were packed. The average person in the community that is not "connected" to any specific high school is not out searching the web for coverage. That is where I think the decline in newspaper coverage has hurt high school football. If they still ran the big headlines about the big games, you may get the person, who normally wouldn't care, interested to go check out a local game. On the flip side, the websites that have popped up (such as this one) give us hard-core fans a great outlet to discuss the game and give the kids alot more expanded exposure. Where is goes from here, I'm not sure. But, my guess would be that high school football will be here long after physical "print" media has vanished.

Years ago thats all we had was newspapers for prep football.  I always waited with anticipation for the football preview issue to come out in August. The Tampa Tribune always had a good one. The only problem was the limited amount of detailed info available, sites like Floridahsfootball.com have much better coverage. Joshua and crew do a great job and I am thankful for the service provided.  I enjoy the boards and although I only joined in the spring I have followed them for quite a while. The boards are a great way to get local insight on teams in other areas, most members give fairly unbiased assessments and that is such a great resource for those of us who love the game.

Let's not get political here...let's keep that out of this.
 
I am not the only site out there. However, the times have changed and that is just that. I still get the newspaper dropped each morning, however, what the newspaper is now is not what it was compared to 15 years ago when I was in high school and that has literally changed almost 360 degrees X 2. 
 
There use to be special tabs on weekends in some of the papers that would have tons of game recaps from the high school games while looking ahead to the college games and pro games for the rest of the weekend on Saturday's. That is not the case anymore. 
 
Would I like to do more to get more coverage of every single team on this site? Yes, I would - However, that is going to take money, but I am not going to ask for fans to pay for it, especially when a lot of you are either coaches, parents, etc. That support is going to have to come from sponsors that care about this stuff. 
 
I am looking for ways to expand the reach this site has now, but with all good things, it takes time.

I agree Columbia.  There is also quite a bit of non Florida high school talk popping up.  There has been a bit of a nasty tone in some of the comments recently, not just the good natured ribbing we are used to.  I know this board is growing just hope everyone respects the rules.

I have noticed a increasingly high number of spams lately and it kinda getting annoying so if anyone notices these spams showing up please report it because after a while it gets annoying to see these spams fill the board and block out real football trends we try to talk about

For the second week in a row, Apopka put up a basketball score on a local rival beating Edgewater 78-0 with 64 of those points coming in the first half. No I was not there. I am not a sadist. Instead, I took a trip to Brevard County to watch Lake Brantley against Titusville with a former coworker of mine and his wife. Brantley won in unimpressive fashion 14-7. I would be surprised if they make it past the second round of the playoffs off of this performance.
 
The truth of the matter is this Apopka team is much better than all the teams it will face in the regular season with the possible exception of Dr. Phillips. But I will attend the district games, and if I were not going to be out of town, I would also attend the Dr. Phillips game. But I will find it very difficult to stomach the rest. 
 
The question to be asked is how good is Apopka? And the answer is: I don't know. Against Columbia, we struggled turning the ball over 4 times and giving up in the region of 100 yards of penalties. It may have been that it was just an off night and if we met them again we win easily, or it may be that overall, Central Florida football is weak this year. The hastily arranged game between Columbia and Trinity Christian may provide some answers even though Trinity is further tarnished by Cocoa getting wiped out by BG tonight. If Columbia is competitive against TC, then our loss to them is acceptable. If TC beats Columbia soundly, then it begs the question: how bad is Central Florida football this year?
 
It is a pity that Apopka, and not an over matched East Ridge, did not play Miami Central. For even if we had taken the loss against Central, at least the Darters would have lined up against a quality football team. My fear is that we breeze through the regular season and the north bracket of the playoffs without being battle tested; and then get a December surprise. Yes, the blowouts do have an upside. For they allow the bench and the younger kids to get real time game experience. But they may also create the false impression that the Darters are better than they really are. I guess time will tell.

I like the bringing up cocoa being a physical game and with that is another physical team in Columbia with a bit to prove after that Gainesville game and we do have 2 straight road wins to open year and are used to playing road games so we know how to prepare, plus they won't have any film on us as this game was last minute so they won't know how we play until we get on field so they won't know our strengths and weakness as the score card won't show it and we already know TCA a good team and know just to go out there and play 100% plus I'm hearing a few offensive starters gonna be back for this game so I look foward to seeing how we do in a game where we basically going into with no prep, we can show a lot of fortitude in this game against the 3 time defending champs

I actually think Columbia has a shot to pull out a nice road win here.
 
1. Short week for TCA in very physical game for them versus Cocoa.  
 
2. Three extra days of rest for Columbia.
 
3.  According to Columbiahighfan2016, Columbia usually plays better on the road for big games because of less distractions. 
 
 
Seems like a great time right now to catch the defending 3A State Champions but I think Columbia can get it done.  I'll lean Columbia in a close one here.

This is an interesting match-up as I assume this was all last second, so the teams haven't scouted each other.

I understand that but not always will the team that supposed to win will win, if TCA has a off night and a team like say Ocala trinity has the night of their lives they have a shot, I wouldn't bet money on it but not impossible

i saw pinkos has Suwanee by 1, accually closer then i expected but will be interesting to see how this game goes

I'm not that impressed with AHD and seem to be overrated team but with that schedule we will soon see if they are contenders or pretenders

Cocoa 26, TCA 23 in OT.  What a game, it should never went into OT. If you watched it on ESPN2 you know what I mean.
 
For the record, Cocoa has never lost to a team in a lower classification than Cocoa's classification since Wilks took over as HC.

Since we now have a fort white rep on board I felt I would go ahead and make this trend

And I was also at that referee scrimmage, I met Joshua at it, he ran a story on the site last year and we did play close with fort white, we also played close with Gainesville, Madison and buchholz and even though they didmt keep track of score I did and despite several close calls we didn't lose any of the games but I did see fort white beat I think it was buchholz there and was beating Lincoln when I was leaving the complex there, idk how that game ended
