Sad thing is the people that are really out there recruiting don't get caught.  This seems to me like a poor decision by the schools.  Did these kids only visit the school for football?  

Looks like Trinity Catholic will be back into giving football players scholarships.  I wonder how far that van will travel to get them this time.  In two years they will be back to what they were.  Vanguard is heading the wrong way.  Kids already leaving there.  

Well since it’s legal now for everyone to recruit and open school choice it’s more difficult for a private school to assemble talent. They have to be all in like a St Thomas and kids have to pay nothing to attend. No way kids are going to pay 3-4K a year to go to Trinity when they could go to Vanguard. Let’s not pretend that the kids  that are 4-5 stars actually go for the education. They are going to play on a all star team that will win. Vanguard has been loaded with talent the last few years and underachieved but kids like to play with other “stars”. Also there isn’t any state retirement at Trinity and I know that Union pays much better as well. I saw two of Trinity’s D1 athletes transferred out the other day. I was told it was because of the cost of tuition. Can’t see them getting back to the Brantley days like that.

Most everyone knows the deal with Madison County. They opened a charter school and now they qualify for 1A. They are really making a team up from 800 students but because of a loop hole they only count 600. They didn’t make the rule but they are benefiting from it. What was a once in a lifetime team from Hawthorne last year was denied winning a title when in reality they probably deserved it. As long as you don’t have to count the charter school number Madison should win championships. Everyone magically comes in just under the 600 number in 1A that is close. You never see any rural teams that have 611 or 616.  Take nothing away from Madison they are a great program and football team but if they were in 4A where they belong it would be a much better fit. Congratulations to Madison on another title!!

They have usually twice the roster size of most 1a schools, most 1a schools probably hover around 20-25 kids
 
 
Madison may often have 50 kids on their varsity roster which is on par with a lot of schools that are around 4a and 5a 

When a team runs one coverage and you got good athletes, it’s not hard to figure out how to beat it. 

Cover 3 and man. Jet sweep right, jet sweep left, inside zone, and screen. Just summed up 95% of what they do. 

Trinity should be ashamed of themselves. They have always relied on having more talent to be successful but watching that last night was just pitiful. They are so simple on offense and defense with no scheming to try and put the players in a position to be successful. I’m sure they will improve and will probably play for another title but they don’t play up to their potential. As for Columbia they have to hope the QB doesn’t go down. That kid is special and he gives them a chance against most anyone they will play.

Dub Palmer, won a title at Wildwood I believe. His son John Palmer has won 2 at Port St Joe (05? 14). 

How about we actually blame who is responsible for a kid being in that situation, the parents. Now I understand your point and actually agree with you on most of what you say above.  However giving the kid money in college isn’t going to help any of those things you mentioned. It only masks the problem at hand. In reality what you are proposing is, saying college a minor league per say, and lets not even attend class because you aren’t getting a education anyway. We will pay you while you attend here preparing for you next job the NFL, which a very low number will make and if you do make it you will blow your money in a few years anyway.  
I think fundamentally we agree with a lot of the problems that exist but until we begin to address the root of the problem we will continue to have them. In my opinion parents (or lack of parents) depend on schools to raise their kid. But that is a whole separate rabbit hole to chase. 

There is no punishment at all outside of the $2500 dollar fine. They were ordered to forfeit the two $5000 dollar salaries, not fine them. So the QB club writes those two coaches a check for 5k then the school donates the 5k back to the QB club, since they didn’t have to pay the coaches in the first place. All that happens in this deal is the coaches save 5k in taxes. FHSAA is a joke as usual. 

Madison though is playing 4 dimensional chess while the rest of us are playing checkers. The use of the charter school to siphon enough students away to lower their population numbers is darn near criminal in my opinion. If Madison played in the classification that their numbers are this wouldn't be an issue. As for Pahokee, they are who we thought they are. They couldn't even beat Hawthorne last year. 

Imagine if every school could do this. Take every kid who could care so little about sports, band, cheerleading and put them in their own school and your population numbers is only kids who want to play sports, cheer, dance, do band, or just come to games. All of a sudden, we might get very different classifications.
