Dillard clearly left it all on the field against a nationally ranked opponent. No shame in their performance. They were in the game up to late in the 3rd.

Don’t worry. I wouldn’t have Apopka in the playoffs
The season is not over yet. It could be tonight, or there could be a resurrection. We shall see ...

I would be perfect. I’m not a homer: I won’t rank teams on emotion. I know about football. And I don’t have a public school agenda.
I would support your candidacy for being part of a 7-10 person committee. I would not support you, or anyone else, for that matter being the sole arbiter with respect to selecting teams.

Wait are you the reason why they lost to Evans in the kumquat bowl in 92?
I lost money on that game. You owe me!
Evans was actually very good back then. No team in metro Orlando was better in that time period.

Booker T with another close loss to a better team. They are so hard to rank. They only played either really bad teams or elite ones. They handled their business against the bad ones, and competed admirably against the elite ones. So it’s hard to judge them other then not getting blown out by Norland and MC
It should not be difficult to judge them at all. They are obviously very good. At the very least they are top of tier 3 and at best they are tier 2 which is where Norland belongs.

When was the last time George Jenkins had a better record than Lakeland, Lake Gibson and Kathleen? Has that EVER happened? Tenoroc doesn't count.
Hey, I was friends with a fine graduate of George Jenkins. She was very proud of her school and a fine IT professional.

Only if you weren't watching on Section 104 on facebook. The entire chat consisted of folks dunking on Norland, caling them trash and only played cupcakes this season. Larry Blustein mocked the people who picked Norland to win.
More accurately, my comments are best understood as biting sarcasm
I get the sarcasm, I did not watch 104. Norland is a fine team and could upset Central if it does not bring its A game when they meet.

It's just amazing how bad they have to be to allow 192 points in one game. And they scored zero. Right?
This must be an inside joke.

I am still trying to understand how an open division works. Is this just for playoffs only? So if you are in 7A district 10, for example, and your power ranking is one of the top X teams in the state, then you are forced into the open playoffs and can't play for the 7A title?
3 minutes ago, Hwy17 said:That's how I read it
If that's correct, you are punishing success. I could support an open division if: 1. It consisted of teams that wanted to play in a super division. 2. If it was created over several years within the context of a promotion and relegation system that ended, say, three or fours years in with the top 32 teams playing in a super division with half of them making the playoffs.

Venice administration expects this game to sellout. Have to get there very early or buy tickets in advance, or there won't be any at the door!
Buy them in advance. That's the safest way. You have a nice stadium, but I have seen the home side fill up quickly when I watched a game against BR there several years ago. I expect Manatee will travel well.

In 2013, CCC lost to Trinity Christian Jax, 34-7 in the 3A finals.

While the hurricanes is undefeated the schedule they’ve had vs the schedule the Indians has had thus far is NIGHT & DAY.
while I do expect manatee to come out aggressive & full of adrenaline, I expect in the end when the dust settles for Venice to win by a score of 42-14
It will be closer than that. Manatee has some solid athletes.

You are a member of the baby-boom generation, correct DarterBlue2? (I guess that I should not expect an answer since you are too good to talk to me, or answer my questions anymore.)
Si.

You've oversold Manatee all year IMO. I think Venice wins comfortably.
In all honesty, I think Manatee is pretty good, but likely not quite good enough to beat Venice.

It's a, "me-first," world, no doubt. Seemingly, nobody around my age cares about the big picture anymore. I blame it on the rampant proliferation of social media, which in turn has created a massive consumerist society in which we never feel gratified by material possessions anymore. Everyone wants to be the next big thing or buy what they see on the TV screen. We're losing our attention spans and seeing a rise in mental illness as a result.
I am glad you see that.

No Pinellas County team has ever won a state championship in football. That 1986 Dunedin team is the closest to do it. Besides those 2 Dunedin teams these are the only county teams to make it

CCC 48-14 last year
Hasn't CCC made the title game twice?

I believe 1R was created so that small public schools from the Big Bend to the Panhandle (with the exception of Pahokee and Hawthorn which are south of there), to have their own division free of private school encroachment.

It amazes me that the FHSAA can have a crappy system for years, finally figure out something that actually is a step in the right direction then decide
"Hey you know what we should do? We should remove the very thing that's an improvement and then add 3 more things to make it worse!"
Then we can call it progress and rely on the aspect that is guaranteed to get voted down (open division) and keep everything else which will just take us back to three years ago when we had a system that had Miami Central and STA sharing a classification with rural teams like Baker County all because they have similar enrollment numbers
Nice thinking FHSAA! No wonder the rest of the country laughs at Florida! I get you can't fix the transfer problem but how can you botch this!!
It seems that my generation has clearly failed the country's youth.

Well, the much-anticipated matchup is finally here. Venice vs Manatee! Venice, 4-2 after rough losses to Armwood and Cocoa. Manatee, and perfect 6-0 record heading into the game with strong wins over IMG Varsity, Lake Minneola, Port Charlotte, and Braden River. Who wins this one in the race to secure home field throughout the playoffs? I'm rolling with the green team! GO INDIANS!
I believe Venice will win the game but that Manatee will be a worthy opponent that will put up a big fight.

That would be more effective especially since a lot of teams struggle to find games as it is and the power rankings don't reward teams for losing to good teams
Exactly!

Wow it's crazy to see some of the downtrodden teams of today listed in that record book. Dunedin HS was a state finalist two years in a row in 86 and 87!
Yes, there were. They actually went into one of those finals as the heavy favorite.

You have an outside chance against St. Thomas. They are good, but this is far from their best team. If Dillard plays as hungry as they did tonight, an upset would not shock me.
