If I’m not mistaken I think norland only has one title , that 15-0 season In 2015

but I agree if norland blows out Lakeland then I say they have the potential to have a great year. Even tho I don’t think it would be enough still to unseat central but in another district maybe or most likely.

but hey who knows Lakeland May thump norland and then we’re high praising the dreadnaughts lol. Despite who wins I see it being a great game plus it counts

They also won the 6A title in 2002 when they beat Edgewater with a hail Mary pass of 60+ yards with seconds on the clock. I stand corrected, but I believe they also picked up a third title along the way in addition to those 2.

I think it’s gonna be a great game that can possibly go either way the more I think about it, even tho I had norland winning comfortably in my predictions.

even tho I still do have them winning , anything can happen. Norland coming in with a lot to prove and Lakeland is well Lakeland lol most def will try to live stream this game.

Exactly. It should be a very good game. If Norland blows away Lakeland at Lakeland, the have a special team right up there with the ones that won state titles. I know they are loaded, but they will have to prove that that translates to performance on the field.

Since Nulli started this ball busting thread and others have nicely carried it onward, any word on two of my favorite keyboard nemesis : Bulldog '87, and Dummer or (another name) ?  B'dog was a Deland High grad who's last post was a year or two ago, Drummer, an undersized New Jersey O-Lineman played for Bosco in the 1960's. He lived near Boca Raton in FLoor-a-duh. Haven't seen this elder gentleman post on any message board since Covid. Both had no problem raising my blood pressure. I wish death and destruction on no human being. But surely a little headache or inconvenience tossed upon this pair would have brightened any of my days.   :)

Bulldog briefly resurfaced when a SB took over the Bulldogs program. I expect we will next be graced by him if Deland gets to the Regional finals or beyond. Regarding Drummer, I am thinking he may have passed on.

I would say that both of them are very wrong considering that both Cribboy and Vero Indian are picking blowout victories for their respective teams. That doesn’t do justice to the talent level or either team. I think Miami NW wins a very tight game but I could be wrong.

I give the slight edge to VB because they are at home.

We are a heavy passing team, even though we have a great running back, and rain does hurt us. I have always stated being a weatherman must be the best job in the world, you get paid 6 figures and dont have to be right about anything!

That and being a stock analyst. But those get 7 or 8 figure jobs.

I would imagine you aren't alone.  In just the local central FL area Apopka is ranked right at the top and we barely broke the top 10.  Some local "EXPERTS" in our area predict we will end the regular season at 6-4 due to our strength of schedule and I would guess that is certainly a possibility.  In any event, I would rather not be on this list and earn our ranking in the top 20 in the entire state; I think it helps our kids from becoming complacent but rather have a chip on their shoulder.

I don't know whether Apopka is a top 25 team at this stage or not. I do know that there are teams on the Max Preps top 25 list that we would almost certainly beat if the games were played over the next two weeks.

How things will stack up in November/December is anyone's guess at this stage. A lot can happen over the course of a season.

Needless to say, I have a problem with those rankings.

Noooo you miss understood me lol I know your predictions for this year.

im asking if you could hand pick your state champs , the teams you would love to finally see win it all for 1-4 suburban and metro who would they be and why

I would to see Edgewater or Jones take down Aquinas, but it probably won't happen. The water has been to the finals 5 times, came close 3 of the five times, but is yet to win a title.

Sure, but the key difference is there are legitimate and widepsread concerns about the safety of playing football, particularly as a teenager. If a kid or his parents on a mediocre/poor team recognize that he'll not be able to play football at the college level or beyond, and he's not able or willing to transfer to a power program, he may decide to give up the game. The players who may have a future in the game will congregate on a relatively small number of programs, and many of the rest will give the game up. This leaves many programs without enough players to field a team.

The thing feeds on itself, though. A kid may be quite willing to continue playing football if he plays on a team that has a shot at going .500 or slightly better with an outside chance of making the playoffs. However, if the team is depleted due the two schools that are within 10 miles  of it getting 3-5 of their better players to "come on over", then he, looking at a 2-8 season or worse, may decide (as will many of his remaining teammates) to give up football and possibly devote his attention to less "demanding" extra curricular activities.  This in turn leads to an 0-10 season and, ultimately, perhaps, the death of the school's football program.

And I think Jesuit has this phenom coming in from the youth ranks. Will be a freshman. Kid was an absolute stud. You can tell he will be a future D1 since he was 10 years old. My son had to play against him many times and he made everyone look silly. He has the patience, vision, explosiveness, and quickness. But he’s not big. Reminds me of Chris Rainey and Barry Sanders

Omar “juice” Anchico is his name. Heard he was going to Jesuit, but that was a long time ago in the spring. Things change.

    OJ, he's tempting fate ...

I like that it's an artificial turf field (it really has to be in order to play 9 games in 3 days -- or longer if they spread it out over two weeks) and I like the size of the stadium (20,000 is just about right for a high school championship game . . . could even create a sell-out or two).  But, and I can't say this any other way, it flat out sucks for South Florida teams.  6-7 hour drives for teams/parents/cheerleaders/bands/fans?  Ouch!

It does, but has happened before. At the beginning of this century, I believe the first three years were in Tally. The Bulls had at least as many fans as Apopka in their 2001 6A title game there.

Personally, I prefer South Florida as I can sleep at either my sister's or sister-in-law's pad if I attend for more than a day. It is what it is. Time for Tampa Bay to host IMO.
