By that logic you can apply the same to Buchholz who keeps getting hyped on here lately

What top team have they beaten this year?

Agree, but Buchholz  has been mentioned on this forum. On the other hand,  Deland (6-1) hasn't after the 7th week of the season. Hence a "SLEEPER."

    He's talking about DeLand

DeLand may be a contender but they beat Deltona last night, I would expect DeLand to win that one easily

True, but 7 TD passes for the win, from this coach's single-wing leadership ?  Just maybe (you think) he has a balanced attack ?

Don't remind me.  I'm one of those Dreadnaughts that did not go to the playoffs in '91 & '92 .

That explains it all !  Once they got rid of you in 1993 that started a playoff streak still going to this day. Although they did get stripped one year during the playoffs for ineligible participation they still were good on the field.  * Daytona Mainland's ongoing public school playoff record started a year later in 1994. The 2023 playoffs will give Mainland thirty in a row. 1994-2023. Nulli, if memory serves me right, FAMU was also "scraping the bottom" in your years. Coincidence, you say ?  I think not...shaking my head in pity.

Dan, when you call someone a "young man" you probably should narrow it down a little bit. Didn't you play against the 1935 teams that Longtime Observer mentioned in another thread?

Careful Jambun, I see a potential hazard in your future, inflicted by a left-right combo.

I came across this and thought this was cool and random. Back in 1981  Palatka won the state title. They had to play 4 post season games. In the 4 games they played, the margin of victory got bigger each game. Usually it’s the opposite in most cases. These are the margins.

1st round vs Robert R Lee (7 points)

2nd round vs Leon (9 points)

    Semis vs Buchholz (35 points)

    Finals vs Suncoast (40 points)

Was that the "Give 'em Hell John L" year at Palatka or UF ?  Help out this old brother. . .

This guy has gone too long without somebody pushing back on his paragraphs of delusion.

Darter Blue, yes, I agree that if you take away all of DP's best plays of the game then Apopka won handily

Pipe Dream with an "Edge."  Where have you been ?  Building cities, I surmise ?  Darter always spoke fondly of you as a player, and a young up and comer.  Careful Darter, this is Pipe Dream 2.0    :)

I have this feeling that all of us are going to slam the officials, be pissed off, and say things that get us all banned, except for jambun. This site will just be jambun and Josh. :P

Thats right the meeting was at Red Robin....Dude must have killed the bottomless fries deal. I dont remember him being this much of a D.A. back then.

I'm in agreement with your assessment. He's edgier now, much more assertive, and very aggressive and condescending when the officiating profession is attacked or criticized. After a few weeks of going back and forth on the internet we met up (my suggestion) for lunch at RR (his choice). Surprisingly it went well. We then didn't insult each other for several years after that lunch. That was my one and only trip to Red Robin's. That S Funny, I believe we've met...

I have always heard that "leftists" stick together. Of course, the less that I have to deal with people who have those beliefs, the better.

..."the less I have to deal with People (leftist) who have those beliefs, the better."  The vast majority of black coaches in Florida are lefty Democrats. You would never hold that against them while refereeing or umpiring a game would you ? Your preconceived biased stripes are now known before you walk on the field!  Your post proves it. Please explain

Tampa likely will get hit with a few more passing bands (strong winds/quick showers), but the real issue will be the storm surge that comes with the early afternoon high tide.   That won't effect all of Tampa, but low-lying areas near water will get flooded.   Watch the news tonight and I'll guarantee you'll see folks kayaking, paddle-boarding and boating up and down Bayshore Blvd.

My daughter has lived on Bayshore Blvd since 2012. The water spillover was the highest she had ever seen. It did recede in her area enough to walk her dog a couple of times ( maybe on MacDill ?) before noon. High tide was 12:30pm.

Bulldog briefly resurfaced when a SB took over the Bulldogs program. I expect we will next be graced by him if Deland gets to the Regional finals or beyond. Regarding Drummer, I am thinking he may have passed on.

Darter, is the Drummer reference from a hear say or just a reasonable assumption on your part ?

  12. Since Nulli started this ball busting thread and others have nicely carried it onward, any word on two of my favorite keyboard nemesis : Bulldog '87, and Dummer or (another name) ?  B'dog was a Deland High grad who's last post was a year or two ago, Drummer, an undersized New Jersey O-Lineman played for Bosco in the 1960's. He lived near Boca Raton in FLoor-a-duh. Haven't seen this elder gentleman post on any message board since Covid. Both had no problem raising my blood pressure. I wish death and destruction on no human being. But surely a little headache or inconvenience tossed upon this pair would have brightened any of my days.   :)

  13. Uncle Luke (Luther Campbell) , 2 Live Crew fame... Haven't found what Luke said, but when colleges are filling the pockets of recruits and current team members with free flowing NIL (name, image, likeness) dollars, it wouldn't be much of a surprise if some of that cash made it's way down to some high schooler's. Unlike college players, with $$$ contracts, who's to stop NIL collegians and others from giving "teens" a little incentive to attend their alma mater and continue on a winning tradition. Makes sense to me.

That is exactly right. And, as of the spring inter squad scrimmage, the elements were there to do the same this year. Not being an insider, I don't know whether that option still exists.

Any old timer remember the "Newbie" who had the "inside scoop" on a certain Blue/Black team all the while he didn't realize he was conversing with that teams Head Coach ?  Inside jokes "be damned" but it was hilarious.  :)

  15. Almost didn't recognize the Legend...trim, alert, well groomed, youthful smile. It's been a decade since my last encounter. He looks like he could easily do 20..25 more. I thought he'd have been enticed ($$$) by now to come home to Polk county to replace another Hall of famer and keep that juggernaut over there sailing along. I'm starting a funding drive here on the East Coast with area coaching contributions quickly adding up. Not that he too isn't loved over here, but we just think with our blessing he would be happier over there. Now that Dade has been legislated out of the way there's no need for any unnecessary bumps in the road.
