    Here's my stab at it.

    1. Miami-Dade
    2. Broward
    3. Orange
    4. Seminole
    5. Duval
    6. Palm Beach
    7. Hillsborough
    8. Pinellas

I think 3 through 7 can be reordered in any order and you could make a decent case.  Pinellas is such a distant last place it's not even funny.  Any of their teams struggle to get out of round one and I believe the problem is mostly too many schools within proximity of each other that spread the talent out too thinly?

Pinellas sill standing while Duval, Palm Beach, Seminole, and Hillsborough at home.

If you want my take, the 5 most knowledgeable people on this board, by far, are KeemD321, Nulli Secundus, DarterBlue, Dan in Daytona, and Jullian. Honorable mentions for everyone else!

I'm flattered but my name shouldn't be on that list.  I know Lakeland, Polk County and statistics, lol.  I don't pretend or overextend beyond that.  I rely on other knowledgeable posters for everything else.

Seriously, the CIF uses a committee to identify the two teams to play in the California Open Division Championship (St. John Bosco vs. San Mateo Serra).  Surely Florida could do the same, either through the FHSAA, media, coaches, or some combination thereof.  Select the two top teams, regardless of classification, after the classification championships are completed and play on the following Saturday.  One game, maybe not a true state champion, but pretty darn close.

By the way, California plays 15 championship games, with roughly 2100 teams competing.  So they give out a lot of trophies too.

Cali has a lot of championship games but when compared to Florida, their ratio is a hell of a lot better.  The Sunshine state needs to do better.  Too many damn classes.

It's almost like the folks from Polk County wanted it that way . . . why else would the FHSAA have switched from "population" to "population density" when determining the 10 counties that would be grouped together in the Metro division?  By making this subtle switch, Polk ended up in Suburban instead of Metro, thereby avoiding the south Florida teams in the playoffs.

Or maybe that's just the conspiracy theorist in me.   B)

Even "IF" that were true, Lee County leads Polk in population and density.  However to your point, there's no way Seminole should've been included and Lee/Polk left out.  @DisabledAccount got that correct.

Columbia deserved to be the favorite based on SOS alone. Lake Wales dominated them, but I thought that Columbia would win because of how well they played after their loss to TCA. They built a lot of momentum that was blown in one night. Lake Wales deserved to win last night, and I think they will crush Mainland in the finals to take home the 3S trophy. The final score shocked me a little, though!

How did Columbia deserve to be the favorite on SOS?  The Tigers played 3, well 4 decent teams "IF" you include Deland and went 1-3.  That's a pitiful 25% result no matter how you slice it.  SOS means nothing if you don't perform and had the Tigers emerged victorious in those games, there's a great chance they'd be in the title game right now.  After Columbia's "loss" to TCA, they defeated:

    Orange Park (2-8)
    Middleburg (5-6)
    Gadsden County (2-8)
    Ridgeview (1-9)

    Playoffs

    Lincoln (5-5) before their loss
    Escambia (8-3) before their loss
    Choctaw (7-5) before their loss

Columbia defeated 1 school with a winning record in DeLand prior to the playoffs and nothing about Columbia stood out as cause for concern against Lake Wales, hence the wager against the artist formerly known as ColumbiaHighFan2017 who blindly touted Columbia's all world schedule while degrading Lake Wales.

If you wanted to watch 2 tremendous defensive teams you needed to be in Lakeland tonight.  Not sure what their mindset was as maybe they thought the first game was a fluke and they would just blow us out as they had the other 11 teams on their schedule but nothing could be further from the truth.  They continually hurt themselves (trash talking, etc.) drawing 5 Unsportsmanlike Penalties during the game.   We actually ran the ball against them better than I thought we would and though I don't know the stats may have outgained them overall.  Final score was 14-7 with them mounting one drive the entire game which was an impressive 16-17 play 89 yard drive for their first TD in the 3rd quarter tying the game.  Their second score was a 60 yard TD run by Tyler Williams which ended up being the margin of victory.   Outside that, we kept their running attack in check all night.   I believe we had 3 or 4 time consuming drives of our own getting into the red zone twice and coming up empty on interceptions.  Each of those picks it appeared that our QB and WR weren't on the same page as both times it was thrown directly to the defender with the WR nowhere in the area.   We just shot ourselves in the foot on a couple of plays which could have changed the outcome.  My hats off to our tremendous group of seniors that have given us 3 years of outstanding teams with hopes of a state title, but it just wasn't to be.  Good luck to Lakeland in the finals.

When I get nervous, I get quiet.  This Lakeland team should be blowing people away but for the reasons you've outlined they have hurt themselves all season and that can be a killer in tight games.  Congratulations on the Kowboys season.  Great rivalry!!

Well I'm gonna take the ballsy move anyway

I've seen all the talk Lake Wales and Polk County been doing on Twitter and writing this in as a easy win for Lake Wales so I'm gonna prove just how confident I am in Columbia

Forget the original bet, I will put my Columbiafan moniker on this site on the line on Columbia beating Lake Wales because if I can't beat an overrated and overconfident Highlander team than I don't deserve to post with that name anymore on this site and I will gladly take the moniker with the most posts and likes in Florida HS Football.com history and walk into retirement

Lake Wales thinks they can end Columbia but we aren't some JV team, Columbia has 715 program wins on its back and if they think they will disrespect us and talk about how they gonna walk over Columbia they will learn the hard way what Lincoln, Escambia and Choctawhatchee have already learned this postseason

Ballsy indeed and I commend you.  I still wouldn't give up the screen name if the Tigers lose but that is your decision.  Regarding whatever chatter is happening, it is what it is.  I will also say did you expect anything less?  All things will be settled on Friday.
