The game winning play was a blocked FG returned for a TD when Lakeland led 34-29. It was a very easy blocked FG. Knights also had a pick-six. CAI deserved the win, no doubt. Lakeland was without 3* Carlos Mitchell, 3* D'marius Rucker, top big play WR Rick Penick, starting DE  Jack Proctor and backup RB Jordan Henderson. Too many key players out, playing before a flat crowd. The 27-10 lead Lakeland enjoyed in the 2nd quarter probably also led an immature group to let up. For those wondering, my fear that QB Evans Chuba would return didn't happen. So, this was the same CAI team that played all season prior...

I'm getting 2003 vibes.  I'm waiting for the wheels to fall off and the Naughts lose to the winless Red Devils.  Please don't blow that game!

Imagine this: Let's say a really good program has been coming close but hasn't won a championship in their respective class yet. Then finally they got the team that just might win it, but by chance the computer ranks then 32 in the state. I for one would find that unfair. Especially if my team was 5a or 4a.

    Agreed! Simple explanation here.

To both of your points, remember back a couple of seasons the system used awarded points based off strength of schedule, which sounded good. However as was pointed out, St. Pete Gibbs was awarded points for getting running clocked by Lakeland who in turned was penalized by the system for playing a winless team. As I said then, all that proved to me was Gibbs had no business playing Lakeland.  Yet under that system it was better for a bad team to over schedule and get beat than to play teams along their own level.  It's almost like telling a student who struggles with basic math to take calculus because an F in calculus is better than an A+ in basic math

    C's get degrees.  Do F's?

Wait are you the reason why they lost to Evans in the kumquat bowl in 92?

I lost money on that game. You owe me!

EXACTLY why you don't bet on 14-18 year olds, lol.

Seriously, I refer to those times as the misfit years.  We had the personnel.  What we were missing (hard to believe) was the discipline.  There were things happening off the filed that led to a lot of the misfortunes on the field.

Yeah and they didn’t cry and complain that things were unfair. And Dade always had more population than the North Florida cities. The South Florida teams took their lumps and got better. Then as soon as they start to rise to prominence all of a sudden it’s not fair. Was it fair in the 80’s when the panhandle dominated? How come there was no split then? It’s messed up. Back in the day 9-1 teams would miss the playoffs. Now 1-9 will get you the number 1 seed and home field advantage throughout

Don't remind me.  I'm one of those Dreadnaughts that did not go to the playoffs in '91 & '92 .

Hey, I was friends with a fine graduate of George Jenkins. She was very proud of her school and a fine IT professional.

George Jenkins is a fine institution.  I almost jumped ship my senior year to be part of Jenkin's first graduating class.  So glad I didn't but I had a few friends from Lakeland, LG and K-leen that took the plunge and never looked back.  They had a well known and energetic principal (from LG) who almost swayed me to become an Eagle.  I'll never forget when they announced Principal Lewis' passing at Lakeland's home game followed by a moment of silence.  It's one of those moments that stuck with me.  The friends from my neighborhood (which was zoned for GJ) who were at the game reiterated that it was something they wish they never saw.

The Yellow jackets lost 30-2 tonight, in a game where Lakeland was again without its top two RBs and the QB was limited due to injury. But, this figures to be of little consequence in the FHSAA's official rankings: Bartow only has one loss while Lakeland has two. There is a *slight* chance George Jenkins could be the new #1. After all, they are undefeated.

When was the last time George Jenkins had a better record than Lakeland, Lake Gibson and Kathleen?  Has that EVER happened?  Tenoroc doesn't count.

It is amazing that back then you were to make and win a state title without playing against one Dade or Broward county team.

How the balance of power has shifted!

The 80's were not great for Dade, lol.

Lol oh really who’s the alumni ask them their class lol. And Atlanta is my second home I jus moved from there.

She's class of '89 and flies down for homecoming every year.  Dang, how long were you in the "A"?

I mean everybody BUT YOU picked against us like we’re bottom of the barrel sorry. Like we wasn’t competitive in every game during this tough ass stretch we had to start the season.

also forgetting we were (4-0) against Miramar coming into the season over the last four years, Now (5-0).

I took Dillard's record, program history and the fact that I work with a Dillard Alum here in Atlanta into account, lol.  Congrats on the win!

But without mastering Algebraic techniques first, you cannot go on to calculus, differential equations, statistical methods, multivariate regression, mathematical induction, and the like successfully. It's the same with Trig, you need Trig to successfully master calculus.

Child's play!  The class I remember math majors flunking was Discrete Structures (aka Discrete Math), lol.

wow!! Wow wow!! What a game & to see it in person was insane! Worthy of being on espn prime time.

I want to start out by saying these are 2 dam good teams & shout to chaminade for representing the 954.

with that said if you’re Miami central this season has been a DISASTER so far.

why has it been a disaster ? It’s been a disaster because this year the goal wasn’t to show the world you’re the best in the state, coming into this year roc bloc already self proclaimed themselves as “KING OF FLORIDA”

the goal this year was to prove that MIAMI CENTRAL was the BEST in the NATION! We get it the rockets probably go undefeated the rest of the way & 5 Pete. But that was already expected.

In this off season you get over 30+ transfers added to an already nationally ranked team & you lose your first national test in Vegas.

Excuse: that’s probably the best team in the nation we won’t see that offense again.

Booker T gave you all you can handle.

Excuse: it’s a rival game Booker t is loaded as well.

Now this game: the game of the year on your turf & you come up short again & now post a (1-2) record with a team that had national title aspirations coming into this season.

I RESPECT the hell out of central it’s NO SHADE AT ALL! & unless norland or MNW pull a miracle out of their had the rockets are gonna 5 Pete. But for the amount of prospects & transfers the rockets have received this off season & the amount of trash they talked, NOT ONLY are they NOT the NATIONS best, they’re NOT even Florida’s best & that’s on the coaches. Great game with two great programs, this season has been one for the ages & we’re not even half way through yet.

NO SHADE AT ALL, but the whole (truthful) thread throwing trash.

    garbage-truck-trash.gif

The "NO SHADE ALL AT ALL" comment got me crying laughing.
