  1. Just a Coach, what makes you think that this is a trap? I am interested in what posters have to say when they criticize the officiating.
  2. Jimmyb1980, what problems/issues did you have with the officiating?
  3. SPCjessica2004, I wish your son all the best in his football career and beyond. Also, thank you for your very thorough analysis of 3A high school football. I always look forward to what you have to say, and you are my idea of a lady.
  4. SpcJessica2004, I heard a rumor that it is in your marriage contract with your husband, that if either one of you discusses any other classification other than 3A, that the other spouse automatically gets all of the martial assets. Is the true? Thank you lol.
  5. Good point. It was easier to line up a bowl game under the old playoff system, when teams knew before the last week of the regular season whether or not they made the playoffs.
  6. Badbird, did the school that you coached at have blue and black or red and silver colors?
  7. Perespective, I don't know if the regular season officials are being too lenient. It is just that the officials who see teams like Apopka, who run unconventional offenses might allow things that are by defintion fouls, but might not get called penalties because they have little to no effect on the play. However, once the playoffs start, officials are officiating teams who they are not familar with, and in and one loss and done circumstance. These type of fouls become penalties because they are violations of the rules. The answer to the second question is that generally speaking, officials do NOT study film on teams who they will be officiating coming up. Officials might discuss with the local officials about certain teams, and styles of play however.
  8. Coach Livings was probably friends with most, if not all coaches. Coach Livings was one of the nicest, friendly, most helpful coaches that I have known. Most coaches today could learn from his example. I hope that he is resting in peace very well.
  9. No thank you. Badbird would score too low in the respect for others category.
  10. No room needed Just A Coach. Proseteye is too old for me. I do respect his knowledge and wisdom though.
  11. I wonder how the officials could "give" a team momentum over the other? Are you suggesting that the officials were actively trying to help Lely stay in the game? Do you think that most officials care who wins a high school football game? Also, I wonder what "cloth lining" is? It is a good thing that the officials "held the whistle" when a potential foul occurred, since no penalty causes a live ball to be dead.
  12. All right, so you are not the coach that I was thinking about. Now I have to thank of coaches in the Central Florida area who have no respect for officials, and treated them accordingly. I know that you are one of them. I just have to figure out which one.
  13. Apopka had the same issues last year in the playoffs when the Darters get an officiating crew from another area who doesn't see their offense all the time. Fouls are to be called to the letter of the law at this point of the season.
  14. This-is-Dillard, could you be more specific? What problems did you have with the officials?
  15. It was a competitive game, between two good teams. No, I will not be checking out Lee vs Columbia next week. I wasn't "checking out" the game tonight either.
  16. Badbird, did the school that you coached at have red and blue colors?
  17. If this coach is indeed Hurlie Brown, the school that he coaches at is Merritt Island. Hurlie Brown also played in the CFL.
  18. I was wondering if anyone can provide any information about the 6A first round playoff game between St Augustine and Robert E. Lee? Anything about the style of the teams, or what kind of game to expect would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  19. That is correct STILL KRUNK.
  20. It is not very clearly defined. The referee ultimately has final say regarding any situation not covered in the rule book in the spirit of good sportsmanship.
