Edgewater V IMG
KeemD321 and 2 others reacted to DisabledAccount for a topic
If Madison thinks Edgewater is so phony go play them It's that simple, put your money where your mouth is, oh wait your not a coach so I guess you are trying to write checks you can't cash Regardless tell Madison to go play Edgewater or heck play IMG, if they can actually beat IMG I will be the first person on here giving them props but anyone can claim they would beat a team when they ain't going out and playing these teams3 points -
Lincoln was just underestimated and Niceville tried to play catch up in the 4th quarter. Are we going to forget the 38-27 Armwood game that was favored for Armwood right after, or the State Finals game that had majority of the stadium on edge beginning to end? Alright sure pal. Go Madison county!2 points

Money where your mouth is? I think egde dumster can pull this one easy.2 points

I'll wait I think they're a pretty real program, that game against IMG wasn't a simulation I don't think . Anyway I'll wait till you have valid points, I think their defense gave up in the 2nd half and let a lot slide by but aside from that the game was just IMG overworking edgewater like they did to venice.2 points

Ref/rule questions
HornetFan reacted to Perspective for a topic
I've got a few questions for Jambun or anyone else who thinks they might know the answer: 1. Why do refs take so long to blow their whistles, if they blow them at all? Are high school officials being taught to act like pro officials, who rarely blow a whistle to signify a play is dead? Here's why I ask. In a recent game, when a rugby scrum developed, even when it was clear that the runner's forward progress had long stopped, it would take the officials a good 2 or 3 seconds before they would blow their whistles. That lead to a specific play where players from both sides were still pushing hard on a run play, the defense ripped the ball out of the ball carrier's hands, and the defense recovered the apparent fumble . . . all before any whistle had been blown. The refs then determined that the player's forward progress had stopped, so no fumble and no turnover. Well, if the runner's forward progress had indeed stopped, why not blow the darn whistle?? Players, coaches, and fans understand that if the ball comes out after the whistle blows, it's not a fumble. To do it the other way seems very discretionary. 2. If a whistle is not blown, how are players supposed to know when to stop playing? Remember, these are high school players who undoubtedly have been taught to 'play until you hear the whistle,' or 'play through the whistle.' Same game, offensive lineman downfield was hitting defensive players after the ball carrier had been on the ground for a second or two because, you guessed it, no whistle was blown and they had their backs to the play. 3. Which brings me to my next question: do refs have the 'flexibility' and 'authority' to send a player off for a play? Under what circumstances? Say, for example, an offensive lineman is downfield still trying to block defenders after the ball carrier is down, but the whistle never blows, so he doesn't stop trying to block his man. Can the ref elect to send the player off for being too aggressive, rather than penalize him? There's a side of me that understands the logic behind giving an overly-excited player a personal "time out" and giving him a chance to collect himself. But is that the ref's call or the coaches call? And, to return to the theme of this question, why penalize a player (with a flag or by making him sit out a play) when there's no way he could know that the play was dead? 4. Last one for now: recent game, offense in punt formation. Defensive end clearly jumps offsides. No flag thrown; punt is returned for a TD. When asked, line judge on the 'far side' acknowledges that he saw the defender jump, but that it "wasn't his call to make." White hat said he didn't see it. Ref on the near side later says: "yeah, defender jumped, but offensive player moved first, so I couldn't call it." Say what?!?! If the offensive player moved before the snap, it's a dead ball false start. Reffing 101, right? If the offensive player moved, throw the flag and blow the play dead. No punt; no TD. If the offensive player didn't move, offsides on the defense negates the return and perhaps gives the offense a first down. Worst case scenario, forces offense to punt again. Either way, no TD (at least not on that punt). From an officiating mechanics standpoint, why shouldn't far side official throw his flag if he sees a penalty and then huddle with other officials after the play is dead to decide whether a call should be waived off or not? Thanks in advance.1 point -

Exactly, OldSchool! Jesse's been driving up and down I-95 from Miami to Ft. Pierce and can't seem to find a single Brevard County store that's open for business. Tragic indeed.1 point -

I totally agree that University is the weakest team in Central Florida, but you play your schedule. University couldn't move the ball on WP at all and WP scored at will. Actually felt bad for University and was hoping none of their kids got hurt. The whole 2nd half , with a running clock, they faked injuries play after play to keep the score from getting worse. At one point in the 4th quarter, over 3 minutes ran off the clock while a kid sat on the field with a cramp in his leg. That aside, it still gave WP a chance to get on the field with someone other than their own teammates, so that wasn't bad. If WP makes the right choice at QB, next week's game can be very interesting.1 point

I thought that Edgewater did a very credible job against IMG especially in the first half. We all have to realize that IMG has two separate teams. Their Offense and their Defense. None of their players go both ways. You could see that Edgewater players were dragging in the 4th quarter. Also IMG's OL is huge and overpowers most defenses even in the first quarter. So many Edgewater players went out with cramps or minor injuries. None of the IMG players went out with cramps. I noticed that IMG has cleaned up it's act from last week with very few penalties tonight. They will need that discipline when they start playing Ravenwood and Duncanville both away games.1 point

In all fairness university may be the weakest team in the Orlando area but it should be a good game but I could see Edgewater coming out looking for a bit of redemption against winter park1 point -
I hope Edgewater is as over-confident as you about the Winter Park game being a sweep. WP game tonight with University was no contest; University presented little or no opposition in a 43-0 loss that saw a running clock in the 2nd period, but this WP team is loaded with talent. Add to that it's a neighborhood rivalry with many of these kids knowing each other for years; the game should be very interesting.1 point

All the schools from Ohio and you pick elder? There are quite a few schools I would be more confident in from Ohio making a game with IMG than elder And really now? Madison hasn't had a team that would beat IMG and you talk about one good player ranked high, IMG probably has 10+ players in the top 100 of the country and you think one player gonna beat them?1 point -
I wanted to talk about the game, I don't understand how that came across as complaining, just saw it as an opportunity to spark the conversation back up but I mean if that's how you took it im sorry I guess? I'm also confused on what you mean by Again if you believe they're fake, I don't think Alabama would like an imaginary RB on their roster.1 point

Elder from Ohio, Grayson, Lowndes, st Francis. Duncanville, Allen in Texas, plenty of teams. Madison County in 2005-2009. Just saying them because with no transfers they showed the USA how to play football. In 2008 had the no.5 player in the country. And Chris Thompson as well. One day Madison will return on everything I love.1 point -

Thank you, Perspective. Now it explains why Brevard County businesses have been tanking so badly. They have been marketing themselves as central FL businesses when, in reality, their customers are located in south FL. This is tragic. "The Melbourne Regional Chamber is the largest business organization in the East Central Florida region, offering the opportunity for networking, education, marketing and community involvement." https://www.melbourneregionalchamber.com/1 point -

I will never understand Schools with transfers. That get smashed by other schools with or without transfers. If a school who doesn't recruit or get transfers loses . I understand, but when you do get transfers or recruits. And 49 is put on you or more what kind of program all you. Edgewater you need to fix some issues. And everyone else. TCA is a embarrassment of a program madison was killing them. They got recruits beat madison. But Bolles blew them out. Whats the point edgewater if yall gonna get blown out still. I'm pretty sure you have a lot of kids at your school. By the way madison light years above yall forever. Tell me when madison ever got dozen of transfers. Alabama commit and many more on edgewater team. Again I don't care if you played mater dei. St Francis, etc. You got your transfers yo superstars do a better job make it close fools. Embarrassing img is a joke too. Only real i see is programs like madison went players from madison doing work. Travis jay NFL bound starts at fsu . From madison, trey sanders was from st. Joe, Alabama now. Edgewater is a big joke program trash got recuirts but still get smashed. And if you ain't on img level don't play them. Clearly yall not. Tired of these schools0 points
