The Orange city team that just wrecked Lincoln not in the playoffs? Or am I thinking of a different one?

Here is a solid quick read from jacksonville.com on how the night went down:

Spruce Creek wins district, Sandalwood tops Mandarin Oct 31, 2016 11:01 PM When Mandarin’s 42-yard field goal attempt missed the mark Monday night, players from two teams stormed the field in celebration.
The first was Spruce Creek which, with a victory first over Sandalwood and then against the Mustangs, had just claimed the District 1-8A title. The other was Sandalwood, which had just won a reprieve for a shot at the postseason.
The Saints made the most of their new life, using an 80-yard scoring run by quarterback Kyle Smith to defeat host Mandarin 7-0 in the third quarter of the three-team tiebreaker. That puts Sandalwood in the postseason at Sanford Seminole while Mandarin, at 6-1, will miss the playoffs.
The three teams played a quarter apiece in a tiebreaker system in which two teams make the playoffs and the other misses it. The Saints lost to Spruce Creek 20-14 in double overtime to open the tiebreaker. The way the system works, they would have been out of the playoffs if Mandarin beat the Hawks in the next quarter.
Instead, Spruce Creek held off Mandarin 3-0 in overtime with the missed field goal ending that contest.
“It was gut-wrenching,†said Sandalwood running back Logan Wright, who scored both his team’s touchdowns in the opening quarter. “I thank God because I just prayed for a chance at the playoffs.â€
Wright carried on 12 of his team’s 14 plays against Mandarin, but it was a change of pace called by coach Adam Geis that sent Smith up the middle on a keeper for an 80-yard score midway through the quarter.
Mandarin’s two quarters yielded three turnovers, a failed 4th-and-1 against the Saints and four penalties in overtime against Spruce Creek, including an unsportsmanlike call on coach Quinn Gray, which happened two plays before the missed field goal.
“Turnovers hurt, and there were some coaching errors, which are on me,†Gray said. “The penalty, I take responsibility for, too, and I apologized to the team for it.â€

It does not matter. In a fairer, juster world, a Private School would not be allowed to have a home schooled kid on its roster anyway.

It is one thing for a Private to be able to offer scholarships or otherwise arrange financial aid to kids that could not afford to attend. It is quite another for them to benefit from using home schooled kids. I am not against a home schooled kid playing high school sports. But it should be at a local public school.

If this kids wants to play at a private school, he/she should have to attend the private school.

I think they might get in.  They only lost to quality teams this year.... 7-3 overall. 4 shutout wins.  Lost to STA, Flanagan, and Western.  Beat Hallandale and Mater Academy.

Had Western lost , they may have had a slim chance as well of getting in as well.  Only losses would have been to to McArthur (8-0), Flanagan (8-1), Miramar ( * would have been 8-2).

Between the late 1 point loss to Western and the late 1 point loss to Flanagan the Miramar team just can't catch a break from the football gods going back several years now....Miramar is probably the best 8A team team in the state not in the playoffs this year.  Western is no pushover, but will not match up with Deerfield Beach's WRs nearly as good as Miramar's secondary would have.  I believe if Miramar got by Deerfield Beach they would have had a good shot at beating Flanagan in a rematch.  Put it this way, when Miramar was at there best this year , there is not much difference between them and the top 8A teams in the state IMO.

That score surprised me and at first I thought it was a typo but Appartley from what I've seen Lincoln has struggled with consistency this season

    One week they beat TCA
Next week they lose to rickards

    See what I mean? Lol

I think the people who picked Niceville by 21 or more were clueless. I thought Niceville would win but knew it would be a good game. As far as Thomas making a difference...he's the best WR and DB on the team. It was obvious Niceville missed him last week against PF and this week. Also considering Crestview is a throw first offense he could have made a significant difference. Again had he played Niceville wins...simple as that. Not taking anything away from Crestview though. They came out with a lot of energy and made the big plays that Niceville couldn't make. Their defense played well and their QB is a gamer! Really looking forward to a round 2 matchup with or without Juanyeh. It was a really close game and could have gone either way.....I'm sure the rematch will be similar.

WIth Dillard winning tonight not only did they ends boynton beach 5 game winning streak not only did they do it on the road when mostly everybody picked boynton not only did they force a 3 way tie breaker but With the win Boynton beach and Boyd Anderson have to play first Monday AT DILLARD in a elimination game where Dillard will be waiting for the winner and whoever wins will play Dillard for the championship or to be runner up so either way were in the playoffs BABY.!!!

Crestview pulling out all the stops in this one. Double pass for a TD...onside kick...statue of liberty..3 play sequence in the 2nd half to help propel them to a 21-7 halftime lead. Niceville needs to wake up. They are definitely missing Juanyeh Thomas tonight.

Since TCA beat Providence, that win is also forfeited so If TCA beats Episcopal tonight its a 3 way tie in a 3 team district. Duval Charter dropped out of FHSAA before TCA played them so that dropped the teams to 3 in the district. So TCA will be the 3 seed going into Monday night barring a Episcopal comeback tonight from 44 to 7 down with a running clock.

If a team consistently has running clocks against opponents, and, as a result has to limit their plays for half or even more of the game, then how does that team work on its offense? You practice all week on various plays and formations and then have to stop perfecting those same plays and formations in a real time scenario. I honestly think that Steve Spurrier had it right. "It's not up to me to stop my offense from scoring. It's up to the opposing team's defense to stop my offense from scoring". Maybe those teams, that have running clocks employed against them, should work harder and smarter so that running clocks are not necessary against their team. I sympathize with the teams that incur running clocks. But, making the better team limit their output will not make the lesser team any better? .
