I have my son playing in the rec league here, which is directly tied with the high school (same teams, league and use the stadium too)  kind of feel like this article is misleading, almost like saying the schools don’t want to test. The thing is they can’t afford the instant test the only thing available is the 2 week test. In my area (Huntsville) I’d had to drive about 1.5 hours to get to the nearest full time instant test facility, or the few places that offer it around Huntsville usually only do 4-8 people a day on certain days. This article made it seem like the coaches/schools don’t care and i think thats absolutely wrong, it’s they’re not a corporate sports company ie the NFL and can’t afford to do it but are trying to have some normalcy as well, while implementing their own safeguards.

  2. We actually have a full thread about these 2 styles, nice little read:

But this should be another great game between the 2, obviously I’m a Vero homer but I’m giving Vero the edge. Vero will actually have tape on TC from this season to help game plan going against their non traditional style of offense, our teams been getting healthier, and both the offense and defense have really stepped their games up the second part of the year and started clicking. All this and being played at home I’ll go Vero 31, TC 20.

I don’t know if you were around the last time Chaminade came to town (2003) but they were 2A at the time and there was a lot of talk around Vero being a much bigger school, Vero having more athletes, wearing them down etc.

I seem to remember the Lions going into half with a 35-0 lead and a running clock during the 2nd half. Vero scored twice against their 2’s and 3’s to make it respectable, but that’s the kind of scenario that can happen against this type of team.

I was on that team we weren’t world beaters solid team yes but not great, our ‘02 team I was also on was a much better team. I felt like if we utilized our passing game more that year in ‘02 we could have made it to state instead of getting smacked by Venice in the 3rd round who shut down our Wing T we were running.

If I remember correctly, at least one Vero receiver had a big drop, too

Pretty sure that was the running back who dropped it, looked like he was thinking about what he was about to do instead of catching the ball, that would of been a big play if not a TD. Growing pains though replacing a lot of guys on offense they’ll work themselves out hopefully sooner than later.

  5. We also had some huge missed throws last night too, if they would have connected wouldn’t of been close, and I’m not talking about contested catches but over throwing wide open guys, then the times we did hit them it called called back. Really need to work on the discipline. Both the running backs looked good though and I forget the one kids name he’s got some pretty good hands out of the backfield and quick feet.

I am glad he landed on his feet even though his football career did not pan out.

Seriously though you’d love for everyone to succeed at a higher level in sports, but it’s unrealistic. This is a good example for kids to not just succeed on the field but in the class to so they can have a career outside of football to fall back on, no matter how good they are.

I’ve seen this but their schedule doesn’t make sense. It shows them playing the likes of  Vero Beach,  Clearwater Academy and Superior.  Could they be JV games?

Don’t believe it’s JV at least for Vero wondering if it’s an 8 man team? Vero Beach besides the main high school also has St Edwards left the FHSAA a few years ago for the Sunshine League as well as a Masters Academy of Vero Beach an 8 man team. I’m thinking it’s an 8 man game and someone just heard Vero Beach and put the main high schools address in. The “school” looks like it’s tiny and ran out of a strip mall I don’t know if there’s any way they could play 11-man football.

Disclaimer...my comments are not politically motivated....just looking at things objectively.

Fans dress up as their mascots to show spirit.  Over the years, I have seen numerous white people at games dressed up as American Indians with their faces painted red.  As a society, we seem to find this "acceptable."  Yet, I am not aware of any other race of people that is used as a mascot in pro or amateur sports.

If white people showed up at a sporting event with their faces painted yellow or black, there would be outrage...yet somehow this is considered "acceptable" for American Indians.  This isn't just "liberals" calling for a change...American Indians themselves have been calling for a change for years.  IMO, American Indians calling for a change has nothing to do with political correctness...that's a matter of people not knowing what it is like to walk in their shoes as a minority.

Fighting Irish, Aztecs, Vikings etc actually quite a few!
