I find it ironic that the photograph accompanying the FHSAA announcement is from the 2021 5A championship game between Central and Merritt Island -- the poster child for lopsided playoff mismatches common during the most recent enrollment-based era.  What goes around comes around, so prepare for more blowouts in the playoffs this year.

We should have 2 state associations with the teams split. 
 
one is for “FBS” type teams 
one is for “FCS” type teams
 
we kinda have that now (FHSAA and SSAA) but not close to where it should be. The SSAA needs about 250 more teams and this would be perfect. 

It is a joke but the reason it’s a joke is because the amount of teams that went independent (which I love) still didn’t persuade these clowns to cut a classification and make sure there are no 2 and 3 team districts. 
 
Any system that has 2 and 3 team districts is already dead on arrival. The FHSAA needs to dissolve

If that is final it looks like Cocoa is guaranteed district champs. They are in a 2 team district with Astronaut. Looks like the other 4 teams that were in their district went independent or appealed to go up

That wouldn't by chance be a private school that recently hired the coach from Leesburg who did the same there the previous year?  Must just have the knack of "ATTRACTING" players.

Has Lakeland ever cancelled a home game due to a hurricane in the last 35 years?

I knew Lakeland would let go of Bryant stadium and head to S. Florida once Coach Castle retired.  I love this!  Lakeland was burned by Andrew in 92' and ever since, no regular season game has been scheduled in S. Florida.

I am glad this game is taking place. It should give us a great prelude to November/December. 

This will be Lakeland's first trip to Traz Powell stadium, known by locals as "The Mecca". It will probably be the 3rd time in the last nine seasons Lakeland will face the best team in Dade county (Carol City in 2016 and Norland in 2023 being the other two.) 
We'll have to keep an eye on the recruiting classes for these teams, as that will make all the difference in how this game goes. Both schools have a solid nucleus returning, but, in this day and age they'll have to recruit well to stay at a top level.  

Depends on what "final" is...I've heard of a lot of schools that are unhappy and are going independent. Who knows how other schools will feel once things are reshuffled again?

1968 - 1984: 4 classes - 17 years
1985 - 1998: 5 classes - 14 years 
Does anyone remember what event(s) prompted the accelerated addition of classes below?

2003 - 2004: 7 classes - 2 years 
2005 - 2021: 8 classes - 17 years
2022 - 2023: 9 classes - 2 year
2024....: 8 classes - 1st year

Same thing with Jones. 5 years from 2011-2015 they have multiple coaches go 23-36 and don’t compete for nothing.

Let’s make an impact hire!  Elijah Williams come on down. Instantly 1st year he goes 9-2. And he’s gone 82-19 since he was hired and they a threat every year.

There’s no excuse. Take Edgewater for example. From 2012-2016 (5 years) they had 5 different coaches and went a combined 19-35 including an 0-10 disaster in 2016. They are in shambles. They look like Colonial and University. They should go independent and blame everyone else for their problems

Keep grinding and make a big time hire!! Cameron Duke came and changed the whole culture! Attracted talent and turned them into a state power! Since 2017 they have gone 75-14 including 2 championship appearances. 
 
You gotta be committed to getting guys to lead the program who know how to attract talent and restore a winning culture. 

They are going to be young. But I am sure talent is there. And I am sure coach Darlington will figure out how to use it effectively. Still, a game against Deland would be a good challenge for many teams. I encourage anyone short a game or two to embrace this challenge. VB, that includes you, too. 

This alone is probably not enough to get the attention of the head-in-the-sand FHSAA, but it will be interesting to see the final total of schools choosing to go independent.  The one silver lining, as mentioned in Josh's other article, is the remote possibility of contraction of the number of classifications that might be required, if enough teams choose to go independent.

I am saying that the gainesville area coaches this guy spoke to hate new idea because they liked being separate and in easy division. Coca never backs down from tough competition as everyone has seen by your schedule and success in entire state. 

I highly doubt they are gonna be down. There are a lot of major rumors swirling at major programs, Cocoa included. Their schedule sounds like it's gonna be a doozy for the first 5 games with Mainland, possible Lake Mary and looks like they are replacing STA with Chaminade. But we will see how long that schedule stays intact if the rumor mill turns out to be facts. 

Gotta love this ad in the FHSAA Classifieds.  Looks like DeLand is going to be down this year.  Anyone buying it?
