If you were the coach of a relay track team, and by the 2nd leg your team was smoking the competition, as the coach would you be running on the sidelines screaming at your team to slow down!!! You are winning by too many lengths!!! Slow down!!! 
 
Doesn’t make any sense. I personally wouldn’t have my starters in once we were up by alot only for health reasons. I wouldn’t want my starters getting hurt or the other team intentionally injuring them because they are getting embarrassed. But I wouldn’t coach my kids to not play hard and do bad on purpose. 
 
like I said. If my 3rd stringers are scoring, then you are way out of your element and varsity football isn’t for you. It’s time to play junior varsity or 8 man.

The whole problem is removing margin of victory from the maxpreps formula.  How else will you measure how powerful teams are without comparing their performance against teams vs how other teams beat them?  MoV is the *only* way to gauge a team's performance vs a team vs how other teams performed vs that same team.  For example, if team A on average beats team B by 50 points more than other teams who played team B, then clearly team A is 50 points better on average than other teams.  However, without MoV, then team A is ranked the same as team C who beat team B by 1 point.  
As I've mentioned before, without MoV you are left with Elo Chess statistical ranking which only gains significance over a large amount of samples which is much greater than the 10 game season team's play.

Good coaches can find ways to show respect to an overwhelmed opponent without the opponent really knowing that the foot has been taken off the pedal.    And while I agree that punting on first down isn't the way to accomplish that goal, there are other things a team can do:  substitute  bench players earlier in the game (and not necessarily all en masse, but eventually no starters should be playing), let players play positions that they don't normally play (letting a DL or LB get a carry or two or throw a pass or two can make things fun and putting skill guys down in the trenches will give them a new-found respect for the big boys who normally handle those chores), letting the play clock run down every play, running the ball the majority of the time (but on pass plays, trying to keep the ball in bounds -- seriously, this can be a learning lesson for players for those times that you truly do want to keep the clock moving).  Anything that doesn't sacrifice the safety of his team should be considered.  Again, good coaches can find a way to keep the game legitimate without embarrassing the opposition. 

I don’t agree with some of that. Punting on first down and kneeing the ball has got to be more humiliating. That’s a true embarrassment. Now you are treating them like they are handicapped. That would be like in basketball you are winning big and the losing team misses the shot and you rebound it and hand it to them to keep letting them shoot till they make it. Lmao! These people are not 3 years old. If you have to punt the ball on first down then it’s obvious they shouldn’t be playing varsity football 

I don't know if he was running up the score but I do know that you can keep the score from getting that large.  If the score gets above 50 I'm going to do what I can to not score, short of taking a knee (I will take a knee not to break 80 though).  If it's 60 to 0 and your 4th string RB running behind the JV OL scores from a dive play, then there's nothing you can do.  If you throw a bomb and score, well that's just not cool.  I get that you have to get the backups work in the passing game, but if you already know you have a crazy mismatch in talent (it commonly occurs in HS) then you come into the game with a plan to get them the proper work while it's not out of control.  I will certainly take a knee just to keep the score from exceeding 80 or 90 though, damn. I would even punt on first down at that point.  Show some damn mercy to those clearly overmatched kids.
Edit:  I read the article and a lot of those points piled on at the end of the game were defensive scores.  I hadn't considered that so I can see how some games can get away from you even if you're trying to keep the score down. 

So my son and daughter go to a small K-8 and the sports is practically nonexistent. They offer 4 sports to the 5th-8th graders coed. I volunteered to coach track and flag football. 
 
Last year In Flag we were winning 28-0 in the first half and the AD came over to me and told me that’s enough points and to sub in the bench players. I was so distracted trying to get these kids in that it threw the whole flow off balance. We won that game 28-13 and I was pissed. 
 
We ended up losing in the finals to a team with mostly 8th graders and we didn’t have one. Meaning we have all 8th graders this year so we should stomp ass. 
 
The point of the story is when you “run the score up” it lets the players on the losing team come to a 2 way path.
 
1.  you can just give up and stop playing. You are so bad that it’s not in your future and you can use your time more wisely by doing something you are better at. 
 
2. you can bust ass and do everything in your power to get better and your team better and not allow anyone to embarrass you ever again

Huge shoutout to Gulf High. This year they are 5-2 with 3 very winnable games coming up. Very winnable.

Are you guys open to playing a bowl game after the regular season? Windermere Prep I believe is an independent and at 4 wins as well. You obviously need 5 to qualify but I would assume both teams will get it. 
 
I think Beachside would be a good fit due to both being public schools and are similar in skill set.

You guys should play Beachside in a bowl game

Pretty sure it was an assistant. I'm just glad the officials let the players play. Some of the stoppages or indecisiveness on placement seemed to throw off the flow of the game for both teams. But all in all no complaints from me and didn't have any bearings on the outcome of the game. Just was pointing out things that seemed odd. 
Like on a Seminole punt return, the returner signal for a fair catch, let the ball roll then took it for a pretty good return. After a refs discussion they placed the ball back where he first touched it. I get why they did it due to the fair catch signal, I just don't get why they didn't blow it dead after he touched it.
They definitely did a better job officiating than what occurred during the Palm Bay vs Melbourne game. That game could've got ugly real fast.

The Cocoa Head Coach should be grateful that he did not get charged with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the Tigers INT return. The Coach clearly interfered with the official's path along the sideline and that official showed great tact in simply pushing the Coach's arm down. I commend the official and that particular Coach better be more careful in the future.

Plantation will b a game, like Miramar, that shows the Panthers can take care of business with the good unranked teams, showing their superiority (Norland) of them, while being beneath the elite in the nation(STA, Cham, Central) at present time.

May not be so amazing as a no win team, but a great turn of events for these programs so far

Even with an overall sloppy first half, Columbia was able to get the blowout win over Orange Park
 
We definitely have some stuff to clean up on but even with some questionable officiating (such as the head ref telling coaches on the sidelines they will let the kids play but calling holding penalties and PI on Columbia even though there were similar infractions on Orange Park which they wouldn't call) Columbia still should have not been trailing at halftime
 
3 first half interceptions including 2 of them coming inside of Orange Park 30 yard line which kept them in the game longer than it should have been
 
Next week is homecoming against Middleburg which will also be the debut of the video scoreboard but also an opportunity to clinch the first consecutive district championship in 22 years with a win over Middleburg and an Orange Park win over Ridgeview

The buzz was all about 4 player transfers and 2 former coaches who are now at Davenport. Arguably our #1 player from last season was one of those who transferred. Add into the fact we lost to them last year. Close proximity etc.... (neither of those coaches were the ones talking)

I am not one for chest beating and wild predictions. But if we continue to play at the level we are and our opponents play at the level they are currently we have a great chance of winning out. We take no games lightly. Just 1 game at a time. But I feel Davenport was the best team we will face for the rest of the year. No disrespect intended for our opponents. 

Congratulations on the win!  That damn social media is one of the Bains of society, lol.  Davenport ain't been around long enough to call out scores against anyone.  Coaches need to set the tone, not participate in the foolishness.  With their remaining schedule, they have 3 big losses coming and could just as easily not win any more games to close out the season.
Again, congrats to Poinciana.  That is one program I would love to see finish strong and continue building on the recent success.  

How about them Broncos!   Poinciana has been disrespected for a long time. There was a lot of trash talking on social media and complete lack of respect from their players and coaches. One of their coaches put it out there that they were going to drop 50 on us!  This lit a fire in our kids that couldnt be put out! 
We went on defense first they lost 13 yards. Then our offense went to work, dropped a 20-0 first half. Came out in the second half went up 26-0 off a 60 yard pic 6. They scored 26-7 then we immediately answered it 32-7. their other 2 touchdowns came in the last 4 minutes of the game. 
We know who we are. But could this be the new beginning of things at Poinciana? 4-2 so far!
