OldSchoolLion got a reaction from Perspective in Who Is This Famous Coach? Joe Reynolds/Fletcher
Joe Reynolds was also an assistant coach at Fletcher in the late 70's and early 80's.  So, he has spent over 35 years there.  Lord knows how many young people he has helped during that time.  Ciatrick Fason had a baby his senior year in high school.   I can only imagine how Coach Reynolds helped him through that challenging time.   I don't consider the life story of such a man trivial, but to each his own.

Sorry everyone.  I thought this was a thread about the SFHSAA.  Looks like I accidentally clicked on a Madison County thread instead.  That's been happening a lot lately.

Very good!  It was Fort Myers, who lost in the 1975 3A playoffs to Haines City. 3A was the second largest class at the time.  Back in the 70's,  the FHSAA had implemented the "penetration rule” as a means of deciding playoff games ending in a tie.  The penetration rule required that each team be given the ball at the 50 yard-line with 4 opportunities to penetrate their opponent.  The team that penetrated deepest was declared the winner.   When it came to the penetration rule, success could be decided by as little as one extra inch.

What are you talking about dodging the competition?  Madison County played the Steelers last year.  Here's proof.

Fort Myers. Lost 8-7 to Haines City in OT. OT rules back then had teams take turns from th 50 yard line and see who could move the ball the furthest.

It is easy to make any kind of decisions in life when you are not personally accountable to a high degree for said decisions.  Too often the "consequence" is, at worst, an apology, ie "Sorry, I made a bad decision."  If one knew with certainty that their career in a certain field was over as a result of a bad decision, rest assured, they would be much more conservative.
If it turns out that letting the kids back to school and/or play organized sports was a bad idea, certain folks will be running for cover and saying "oops."  I am not debating whether it is right or wrong to let the kids play.  It's a tough decision.  Am simply pointing out that it is relatively easy for some to "ignore reality" when the personal stakes for their failure to do so are not that high.

Tommy was a very, very good possession receiver. The first time I saw him live against Miami Central at the old Orange Bowl, shortly before it was demolished I knew he had NFL talent then and there. Funnily enough, though, I though Aldarius Johnson had even more potential, but issues (off field??) caused his college career to stall. That MNW team had as much offensive talent as I have seen on any one high school team.

It wasn't the 2004 game.  Interestingly, Columbia was the team who did not score any offensive TD's in that game.  Their only score was a defensive fumble recovery for a TD.
In 2007, 4-4 Suwannee faced off against 7-2 Columbia for the Oaken Bucket at Suwannee.  In the first quarter, Suwannee's D stripped the ball and ran it back nearly 50 yards for a TD to go up 6-0.  The Bulldogs were completely shut down in the first half, totaling only 17 yards of offense.  Columbia took the lead 7-6 and held it into the fourth quarter.  Suwannee missed a fg and the game looked all but over with only about 4 minutes remaining.  But Suwannee's D stripped the ballcarrier again and ran it back for a 40-yard score.  Columbia had a chance to win it in the remaining few minutes, but self-destructed due to penalties.

Well that makes it a lot easier

Since 1990 Columbia has only 4 losses against Suwannee

1995 (lost 21-0) this one is out because Columbia never led in the game

2001 lost 10-7 this one is possible

2004 lost 14-6 possible I suppose, interesting enough this was only game coached by Scott Anderson who was fired for a incident at practice the next week, he was replaced by Frank Beasley for the rest of the year before Danny Green returned for 3 more seasons at Columbia

    And lastly 2007 14-7 loss

I'm gonna go with 2004 and I'll say probably a defensive TD and then fumbled on the kickoff to give up a second TD

Madison County and East Ridge were formidable teams back then.  For example, Madison County was actually ranked #1 all classes(Beef O'Brady's poll) coming into the 2003 state title game, so losing to them by ten at that time was a "good" loss.  In 2004, East Ridge was undefeated in the regular season and lost a close playoff game to state finalist Lake Gibson.  ER came into that 2005 Columbia game as one of the top-ranked 6A teams in the state at the time, so Columbia losing to them by one point likely didn't hurt them much in the polls either.
The pollsters have had a love affair with Columbia for many years.  Maybe there was some of that, "this has got to be their year" thinking, and it was difficult to let go of a strong preseason ranking when it started to appear that a Columbia team was not going to contend.  I don't mean that as a knock on Columbia.  I just cannot tell you how many times I've seen Columbia ranked highly in the polls, only to disappoint come season's end.
