Which States Produce the Most HS QB Recruits?

I considered currently recruited qb seniors with substantial recruiting attention to make these determinations.  Although Florida has quite a few qb recruits, relatively few have been aggressively pursued by Power 5 schools.  The Pacific Coast states (WA, OR, CA and HI) produced 22% of the recruits.  The number of recruits in Washington was surprising.

In terms of sheer numbers, the states that produce the most highly recruited qb's are:

1. California-33 recruits

2. Texas-31 recruits

3. Florida-18 recruits

4. Georgia-15 recruits

5. Washington-12 recruits

6. Tennessee-11 recruits

7. Alabama-9 recruits

8. Arizona-8 recruits

Per capita, the states that produce the most highly recruited qb's are:

1. Alabama

2. Washington

3. Tennessee

4. Mississippi

5. Louisiana

6. Georgia

7. Oregon

8. South Carolina

How does this whole per capita work?

Does it include the entire FL population or just the average of how many high school athletes graduate from FL?

I learned from doing a similar exercise in the past that one can use the overall populations and get very similar results.  When one crunches the numbers, it does not make a huge difference.  Yes, FL has a greater relative population of older folks, but the difference in percentage of 18-and-under in FL versus other states is not that great.  The number of hs students in FL dwarfs that of most states.

Florida was between #10-15 on the per capita list.  Should not be a big surprise, since Florida has not historically produced a large number of high-caliber qb's relative to certain other states.
