Not a bad top 25.  However you did have Auburndale like 26 or 27 lol.  But you called Lakeland not being as good and had them around 35.  They could have been 60.  Good call on Lakeland.

Just remember, no team is forced to play them. Every season they seem to easily fill up their schedule and some of the teams on that schedule are Florida teams. So, really, what in the heck is your point Columbia? Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

They beat Vero last year, and Delray Atlantic the year before. As Jesse said their players come mostly from Canada but they have guys from American Samoa, the UK, and from the USA too. Talking to some of their fans last year, they struggled early last season as many of their players could not get into the US due to the foreign travel restrictions because of the pandemic.

Think of it as a mini IMG, the school is associated with the Church of Scientology, and seem to be well funded as a result.  I don’t know if they have the horses to hang with TCA, but they are no cupcake either.

I mean..... There is a certain school in South Tampa that has a championship count that was assisted by kids that you know... lived outside of their zones and somehow made it into the capacity filled A School and just so happened to be high level D1 recruits....

He should have done this several years ago, if he were serious. The odds of success at this stage are not very good. No hate intended; just stating reality. Could he succeed? Yes. Will he? I doubt it very much.

A close friend of mine and big a supporter of HS football passed away a few weeks.

Steve and I spent countless hours attending and critiquing football at all levels over the last 16 years. The conversation would usually carry over to the bar or restaurant afterwards. Steve loved supporting local sports, especially Robinson High football, baseball, etc. He also was somewhat of a historian, with a memory like an elephant. Talking to Steve would sometimes transport you right back to childhood when we were discussing local sports legends and the places we used to haunt as kids. He remembered everything.

He also showed up to support my kids (and the kids of many of our friends) for any kind of sport, from middle school soccer and flag football, to high school football, track wrestling, etc.
Steve also mentored and influenced dozens upon dozens of young athletes and encouraged them to stick with their dreams and to stay on the right track. He did so out of experience, and he didn't want them to repeat some of the mistakes he made as a young person. This was especially evident when he was struggling in his last few months with the big C, as so many young athletes, some of whom are current or former pro athletes, and many of whom are now college educated adults, created a constant stream of visitors who came by to check on him and talk.

Our common friends and I will really miss the conversations and stories, whether on the phone, at the game, or at the bar over far too many Miller Lites. You will be missed but never forgotten.

There is a memorial cookout planned for Steve on April 24, 2021 at our mutual friends home.
    Noon to 5
    3900 Pearl Ave.
    Tampa, FL 33611

This is the place where we did some old-school cookouts where several FlaVarsity and BCP members showed up and had some fun swapping stories and eating and drinking. Show up in his honor if you can.

    Rest in Peace my friend

Lol we are talking about high school kids, of course they talk trash. And yes you are correct, Broward and Dade are the prominent counties for football because they have a great pop Warner system, great coaches, and way more people.

I think many in Duval would kill to just have those kind of sponsorships that you have in Lake City. Or the ability to not have to recruit your own kids to get them to stay.

Darter said Lee has a habit of losing clutch playoff games.  They beat Columbia in 2016, 2018 and 2019 in the playoffs.  It appears they have no problem beating Columbia in clutch games.  If they sucked all those other years then they didn't have any clutch playoff games to lose.  Lee needs transfers to compete.  Once they lose their coach or a new admin they will probably go back to being a bad undisciplined team.  Not sure how long that will be.

Well ik I saw at least 2 of them being hyped up by the jacksonville media as being one of the best players in the city at their position

Also there is no such thing as a "zone" in duval county which is why kids can pick any school out of Middle school

No worries, Jambun.   I was just stating my personal opinion on the issue of recruiting and where I "draw the line" just reflects my personal beliefs on the subject.   I understand that reasonable people can have very different opinions on this issue and can agree to disagree.  I just happen to believe that if you allow any kind of recruiting, you open up Pandora's Box to all kinds of issues and problems.   In my mind, this will lead to regional "super teams" . . . at least as long as the head coach and/or coaching staff stay at a particular school.  Recent changes have already contributed to this.  If recruiting is allowed, that could further tilt the balance of power which, in turn, could adversely affect the overall health of the sport.
While you might not be enamored with the idea of kids growing up in the same neighborhood coming together in high school to win a state championship, I like it . . . perhaps because I've seen it.   To the contrary, I really don't like the idea of a kid transferring from one school to the next to the next and to the next because the grass looks greener somewhere else and some other coach whispers sweet nothings in his ear to get him to make the move because that coach needs a back-up plan in case one of his kids gets snatched up by some other school.  I realize the Kyle Trask story is an anomaly, but I love that story of perseverance and reward.
Again, reasonable people can agree to disagree on this issue.   My opinion doesn't make me right or wrong.  It just makes it mine.

If you have no idea what the Edgewater staff or players are or are not doing, I don't believe that it is a good idea to even speculate about that word that you emphasized. I have seen firsthand that the Eagles have a great coaching staff, and overall program. That is probably a big reason why many top players in the area want to be a part of that experience.

You have to understand where Edgewater is located. It is just northwest of downtown Orlando. It borders: Jones to the south; Evans to the west; Wekiva to the northwest; Winter Park to the east; and, Boone to the southeast (It also has a small border with Colonial to the east-southeast, but there is not much talent there.) The point is, that kids in those neighboring schools can often just as easily commute to Edgewater as they could to their own, zoned school.
Thus when Edgewater has a good coaching staff (Gierke era or currently), it is easy for neighboring talent to choose to go there. And, they are not at capacity, so, they don't have an issue with headcount. Thus, there is no issue justifying admission.

I will be happy to acknowledge it and talk about it. High School players want to be coached up, and get the most out of their High School experience. Good for them and I support their decisions.

And also for the record, I have nothing but respect for Madison County’s program. They are a very good team that could probably compete with the majority of schools in Florida. And also I was only joking about all that redneck stuff.

You know something Jesse? I agree. But this thread had nothing to do with Madison County, Venice, or St. Thomas Aquinas. It was @THIS_IS_DILLARD ‘s first time posting on this board in nearly a year, and it was a post about him being excited about his teams upcoming realignment for the 2021 season. You called them a bunch of black hole boys (which is a derogatory racial slur, by the way), and talked Ill about the team that he cares about so much. You didn’t even express sorrow for the fact that his friend, Eddie Frazier, passed away at such a young age, and called Dillard garbage. No kind words. No sorrow expressed for his friend. Just call his beloved panthers a bunch of zeros. You are a pathetic excuse for a board poster.

Right now yes. But 2019 madison or other madison teams no. Madison is ranked in the top 10 in the past.
