  1. It has been two years since we last saw spring football in the Sunshine State and spring games and jamborees are being scheduled around the state. As such, Josh is back compiling a list of all the spring games around the state. If you don’t see your spring game or jamboree listed on here or don’t see the kickoff/start time listed, please email any details to Joshua.Wilson@floridahsfootball.com or please send a DM on Twitter at @FlaHSFootball so it can be added to this list. Board members can also comment in this thread or privately message myself. Games begin May 14! LINK: https://floridahsfootball.com/2021/04/07/2021-spring-football-games-jamborees-list/#.YG-oSehKhPY
  2. Pahokee has officially hired Emmanuel Hendrix, the team's defensive coordinator, as the new head coach, per ESPN West Palm. Hendrix is a 90s alum and played for Bowling Green.
  3. Just found news segment from KVUE where Acosta addressed the move: Reporter (paraphrased): Acosta said IMG is not a traditional high school football program, which is what he wants to get back to. "I've been trying to get into Texas football forever," Acosta said. "The kids look like me there, I look like the kids there. That was a big appeal."
  4. Per the Austin American-Statesman, in 2016, the guy Acosta is replacing earned $79,500. Also from the AA-S, Acosta will have his work cut out for him: Burton compiled a 29-51 record with one playoff appearance during his time at Del Valle, including a 3-6 mark last season. That winning percentage compares favorably in a program that has struggled since beginning football in 1956. Del Valle has an all-time winning rate of 32.6% and has just two playoff wins in school history. Burton’s resignation leaves an opening at the third-largest school in the Austin area as well as a void in the community. In the Del Valle school district, 87.9% of the students are listed as economically disadvantaged by the Texas Education Agency and 77.3% are deemed at risk of dropping out of high school.
  5. Well, he sure will be inheriting a different atmosphere results wise, per FootballScoop:
  6. Thanks for the update - will be interesting to see come the holidays how the next chapter of the situation plays out ....
  7. HA! Us, rich? We wish. Josh, by his own admission on this board, very recently was able to start paying me. (Keep in mind this site is on its 11th year and I've been around, in some capacity, for about 10-and-a-half years.) He's mostly a one man show, but not by his own choice -- that's all he (again, by his own admissions on this forum I'm not outing anything he hasn't already stated) can afford.
  8. Josh says yes he believes it will be a three team district.
  9. I sometimes help him with some behind the scenes stuff. Josh is the star of the site, I just occasionally provide some support to help him out.
  10. Things got a little dicey here and this thread has been locked, as per Josh's instructions. Let's remember to keep things respectful, folks. We're all here for the love of the sport. Happy to pick the conversation of reclassification back up in a new thread, if any board participants are inclined to start us off fresh in a new thread.
  11. Hi Jambun. As others have said, Josh or I would be the go-to contacts. You can also message both Josh and I at the same time, if you like, and I can ensure Josh responds to you if I can't address all of your concerns or if I feel Josh would be the better person to address your concerns. I see Josh hasn't been on since late January, but I try to pop in at least once or twice a week, at the bare minimum.
  12. I'm taking credit for getting you back on here, regardless of its the truth And yeah I know, man, we've had talks about that! You're a dedicated fan, no fault there from me. Just saw an opportunity for some ribbing.
  13. Moving this to the main section of the board as we have a few coaches on this board who might be interested in this.
  14. Columbiafan still impacting this board despite not being around any more
  15. It's because of COVID. Apparently it's tough counting kids since most (all?) student bodies are split between virtual and in-person learning.
  16. Districts are up in the air right now. Plan had been to get them out right around this time, plus or minus a week or two, but now the FHSAA is considering putting a pause on district realignment for one year and picking up the issue for the 22-23 school year. What school are you referring to?
  17. LOL to clarify guys, did not mean to say that that situation actually happened. Was attempting to say it's a miracle it did not happen with all the schedule shifting that occurred this season, particularly in South Florida where in some cases schedules seemed to be decided early in the week only a matter of days ahead of the Friday night lights.
  18. Scorestream should be completely updated for all teams outside of South Florida. Broward and PB publics (don't recall what the situation was with Miami publics) didn't really get tracked as close as the rest of the state since the schedules were a complete mess. (I'm actually half surprised you didn't hear of two schools showing up to a site both expecting to play the host school.)
  19. For all interested: There's an "ignore user" feature so that you don't have to view the posts of users you don't want to hear from. Hover over their username and the option should appear.
  20. Avant Garde out of Hollywood is fielding a team this fall.
  21. QBs Coach at Alcorn State https://www.wctv.tv/content/news/Former-Lincoln-head-coach-Gray-officially-announced-as-QB-Coach-at-Alcorn-State-569929101.html
  22. In somewhat related news, Georgia will be opening up gyms (with restrictions) on Friday. Will be interesting to see what, if anything, GA teams will do with that, even if on an unofficial level.
