  1. So, there are no casual fans of high school football in Daytona? Only a Volusia area team would draw well from the local crowd?
  2. Yeah, that coach was obviously very good. Sure, but BTW has had a very difficult path to the state game and were able to get there.
  3. Darn! Looks like Bolles means business.
  4. Jones's biggest issue is over reliance on Sparrow and under reliance on its passing game. If they focus on just running the ball, Sparrow is going to be winded by half time.
  5. Picks in bold. Yeah, Edgewater is my upset pick!
  6. Yes, but does that mean the teams winning the state finals are bad? I don't think so. While it is nice to have a couple national elite teams in your state it does not mean that those teams that don't meet that standard aren't very solid.
  7. This guy is just an angry, poor sport. There is no basis to anything he says and he should just be left alone to spew his vitriol. If Edgewater, Jones and Apopka lose this week it is because they got beat by better teams. I know that all three will give it their all representing the Greater Orlando area. I wonder what NB will say if all three win. Wait, I already know: STA, MNW and Columbus were all garbage. Florida football sucks! Once a loser, always a loser. I will leave it at that ...
  8. Do so Sunday afternoon if that works for you.
  9. I actually think this could be a very good game. Central has a very good running game, but they are not unbeatable. It is hard for me to evaluate Escambia as there is no "free video" available. But they are undefeated and Palmetto did give Central a great game last week.
  10. Yes, that is correct.
  11. It would not be me. So don't let that hold you back!
  12. I know for sure at least four or five of us will very likely attend this game together. I will post when I know more details.
  13. I agree. Jones has been around over 100 years and is the only surviving, historically black high school in the Orlando area. The crowd will be almost as big as when Northwestern played Boone back in 2007. That game did not live up to the crowd size, though; but well over 20,000 were at the Citrus Bowl for it.
  14. If the games were in Sarasota or farther I would. But for Daytona, which is about an hour from home, I would have a lot of explaining to do to the wife
  15. That would be awesome if you could!
  16. I will be there for the Thursday through Saturday games. If the Bolles/BTW game was on Thursday or Friday I would watch that as well, but four back and forths to Daytona over four days is a bit much for an old man.
  17. Interestingly that the number of games that were great or good, 851, is almost the same as the number of games that were very bad or puke, 853. The total of the four category extremes, 1,704, is much greater than the 942 total games for the three middle categories. From my perspective, both the great and good games are well worth seeing, as I feel that on any given night, those games could have ended with the other team winning. Very troubling are the number of games that are puke and very bad. In my opinion, these are only partially caused by the number of classes we currently have (the watering down effect). Equally responsible, in my opinion is the creating of stacked teams which now occurs in much greater frequency in the larger metro areas. While this partially results from the watering down of transfer policies, it is also caused by coaching staffs recognizing that to make deep playoff runs they must "actively recruit" to keep up with other schools that do so. Realizing that they cannot compete, in Miami-Dade, a number of schools with 8A and 7A enrollments have now opted for independent status, as many cannot make the playoffs and others that were in districts with weaker schools realize that they would be one and done even when they do make the playoffs. While none of the Orlando area large schools have yet followed suit, based on performance over the past decade, many have a great case for doing so as they routinely get blown out by 30 points or more.
  18. 1A Madison 2A Champagnat Catholic 3A Chaminade Madonna
  19. Last time was 2003 & 2004. Then they were moved to Miami-Dade for 2005 & 2006 and then Orlondo 2007 - 2018.
  20. This week's picks below: 1A Madison County 2A Champagnat 3A Chaminade-Madonna I will post 4A through 8A by Wednesday afternoon.

  22. Please clarify whether you are referring to High School, College or NFL career.
  23. 1991 Evans and South Ridge were in a tie at the end of regulation when the South Ridge kicker missed wide left in the dying seconds. I think the score was around 22-22 but don't quote me on that. Back then overtime was not played. That tie, led to overtime being instituted in the finals.
  24. Orange is actually 6.5 if you count the two titles won by Catholic High school Bishop Moore. 3 Apopka, 2 Bishop Moore, 1 Dr. Phillips and .5 Evans. But very good post overall. I totally concur that the expansion of classes has helped Dade. That, and the fact that large metro areas have gotten more adept at recruiting.
  25. The first bowl was hilarious! Perhaps NB can charge admission and head for the hills when aggrieved fans hunt him down to get their money back!
