Is that why 2 years ago they had no backup plan for a unexpected need to change the venue at the state finals?

That has nothing to do with the topic.

This falls on the FHSAA. They punted the responsibility to a second rate website that is famous for errors and inaccuracies. The FHSAA should be held liable. They literally make every move that is not in the best interest of the coaches, players and fans of the sports played in the state. It’s embarrassing. I posted this link in another thread. Can someone tell me why this can’t be the minimum mandatory?

    https://www.ghsa.net/2019-2020-ghsa-football-schedule

As much crap we give Ga. posters, the GHSA is always on point. The FHSAA knows what they need to do, but the problem with doing the right thing is it makes too much sense.

Teams are still looking for games

Last thing we need is some deadline that causes teams to be forced to go into season without a full schedule

Deadlines are definitely needed. You can't go into July and even early August not knowing what's going on. It also helps fans get an idea how to plan for time off from work, etc. if there's an OOS game involved.

Those some lofty expectations bro what do you guys have returning ? And did you make it to the game vs us in the playoffs last year.

We have a good QB that transferred from American. Amari Daniels is back at RB along with Owens from last year. WR's are good. Not great. OL is decent. DL will be good and LB. Secondary will probably be our strongest. But talent has never been the issue. Coaching is.

I didn't make it to the game last year. My son had a football game that night, so you know what that meant.

Lol it’s cool bro how do you guys see yourself finishing.

That St Frances game is going to be a dozy! If we somehow pull that off I like our chances of running the table, baring any major injuries. But when it comes to playing Carol City and Northwestern the playcalling on offense gets really suspect. But time will tell.

  6. Here is the schedule for MC in 2019. Dates, time and determination of home and away games at Traz Powell Stadium TBA. But this is the order of games.

    Pre-season Cedar Grove, Ga. @Traz

Wk 1 St. Frances Academy, MD. @Traz

    Wk 2 Booker T Washington @Traz

    Wk 3 Carol City @Traz

    Wk 4 South Ridge @Traz

    Wk 5 Edison @Traz

    Wk 6 Belen @Traz

    Wk 7 Northwestern @Traz

    Wk 8 Norland @Traz

    Wk 9 South Miami @Tropical

    Wk 10 Chaminade @Chaminade

I realize that this was only 7 on 7 BUT! MC failed to place at the Kirby Smart 7 on 7 Tourney yesterday! And they BARELY beat an Alcovy team in OT, that was BLOWN OUT by Colquitt county, 56-0, in real football last season! Course, Alcovy also placed fourth in the Cam Newton 7 on 7 last week! And with 48 seniors, they are our HOMECOMING game! HIDE da women and children, when they roll into town, NEXT time!!

    Awww...this is cute!

Ik you were only referring to the 2012 team but even so there were a lot of teams on the list who Miami Central beat who were better in the year Miami Central beat them than that Gainesville team was

That Gainesville team wouldn't have a prayer against a team like Bishop Gorman in 2017 for example

Yes, that's the only time Gainesville and MC ever played. That 2012 Gainesville team was pretty decent. Rather that matched up well with the other teams on the list is irrelevant. The list was just a rebuttal to the opening post to the topic that AHP has a better resume in the state.

When MC Rockets made his list, I'd be willing to bet that he had some specific years in mind for each team listed.  For instance, Hallandale is not a perennial power, but like Gainesville, has had some strong years.  One must do their homework before discounting a victory as significant.  As you know, there are many teams who only occasionally produce a team that is a powerhouse.  If Central had beaten a 5-5 Gainesville team during the regular season, I doubt he would have included them on his list as a notable victory.

Thank you! I see someone sees where I was going with my post.

Over 75% of teams on that list would have beaten them easily

There's a reason Gainesville hasn't come close to returning to states since, they took advantage of armwood on a off year but were clearly out-matched by Central who easily destroyed them in the finals

Fully aware. They still make the list.

    Very strong list there

Although one school on that list stands out for not being like the others

But I have to give the edge to Central when it comes to best resume

Gainesville's 2012 team was good enough to make it to state and was unbeaten til MC beat them.

Without a doubt, 6A-Region 2 has the least depth of any region in the upper classes.  Only 3 teams made the playoffs last year(those with a double asterisk), and none of them advanced past the first round.  Although some may consider this a weak region, in no way does it mean this will not be a very competitive one.  Any number of teams will likely have a legitimate shot of representing this region in the state semis.  Below are the records of each team from last season.

    District 5

    Springstead 7-3

    Lake Minneola 5-5

    Lecanto 3-7

    Pasco 2-8

    District 6

    Land O' Lakes 7-3

    **Gaither 7-4

    Tampa Freedom 4-6

    Fivay 4-6

    District 7

    **Largo 7-4

    **Clearwater 6-5

    Countryside 6-4

    Seminole Osceola 2-8

    Seminole Seminole 1-9

    District 8

    Boca Ciega 7-3

    St Pete 6-4

    St Pete Northeast 4-6

    Dixie Hollins 4-6

Clearly the weakest in the class.

What could this region have looked like this year?   ...seedings below

Round 2 could have been Mainland at Columbia and Lee at Escambia

    #1 Columbia 45.6

    #2 Escambia 40.7

    #3 Ponte Vedra 39.3

    #4 Mainland 38.8

    #5 Gainesville 42.4

    #6 Lee 41.9

    #7 Gulf Breeze 37.8

    #8 Pace 37.3

Mainland could potentially host a home game all the way to the state final.

Thanks for the heads up 'Rocket. Now that Daytona Beach has the championships for the next few years, could be Miami Central on the Bucs home field again. It didn't help in '08 or '09 when a young D Freemen ran through us in the 2nd half or the other couple times in the playoffs up here, but who knows......I've always had much respect for the Rockets, wings and drinks on me if you come up...

    You got it!

Each of the three teams played a half game against each other. Mainland overwhelmed the home field Yellow Jackets (ST. A)  25-6 , and edged the reigning Florida large school champions (8A) Jacksonville Mandarin 10-7. Mandarin's starting QB Carson Beck threw for 3,546 yrds and 39 td's last year and was named "MR Football" in Florida. He has a very strong arm , good feet, and throws a beautiful ball. Mainland ate the clock up, cut down on his field time, and stayed in his face....For the 1st time since the 2010 season, Mainland is back in the Northern playoff Bracket. The Miami Monsters of Dade county (Central, Carol City, Northwestern) have knocked the Buccaneers out of the playoffs 7 times in the last 8 years. NO MAS!! ...Armwood here we come...

Armwood is no longer in 6a. Mainland will have to contend with Columbia and maybe surprise team in region 1. Whomever comes out of that region is all but a sure bet to make to state. Region 2 is as bout as weak as a bad Wifi signal.
