Ok here is how you settle everything on the field. 9 rounds to determine one true state champion. Here’s how it works.
First everyone plays 5 regular season games. Just to warm up, get in rhythm, and gel for the playoffs.
The top 512 teams make the playoffs.
Round 1 - 512 teams
Round 2 - 256 teams
Round 3 - 128 teams
Round 4 - 64 teams
Round 5 - 32 teams
Round 6 - 16 teams
Round 7 - 8 teams
Round 8 - 4 teams
Round 9 - 2 teams for the 1 true State Championship.
That means everyone gets 6 games minimum, and if you lose in the early rounds you can just schedule random games with other teams who were eliminated as well. Up to 4 more depending on what round you were eliminated in.
can I get and Amen?
District champs only from a 64 district system based on geography. 6 round playoff system. Runner-ups can have whatever consolation bowl they desire. All I see is a cut to the FHSAA's pockets. This would be a quick hell no!

Why even have enrollments classify it? If you want to be a true State Champ. There should only be 1 class. With enrollment used to classify you are only a champion of a specific set of schools not the entire state by your logic.
Here you go!

Broward is the 6th largest school district in the nation and you think Columbia getting kids from poor ole santa fe, little ole fort white, & little ole branford puts them on a level playing field with STA?
columbia county ≈70k people
broward county ≈2 million peoplei respect your opinion, but if you truly believe they are on a level playing field, then I don’t know what to tell you.
For the sake of this discussion (**cough cough FHSAA), we should introduce population in terms of high school age kids, not the entire county. Your grandma won't be putting on those kind of pads, lol.

Some comments made in the meeting by the FHSAA Executive Director definitely led me to believe that the Finals are going back to Tallahassee next year.
Agreed based on how FAMU's graduation schedule was mentioned.

It's all very, very funny. I hate to say it, but the Georgia and Alabama equivalents are superior to our governing body.
Agreed. That meeting got harder to watch as time progressed. However, some great points were brought up individually for and against the current system along with the proposal(s) for something different.

I for the life of me can't understand the reason to not at least let graduating cycle go through before changing the system. The M,S,R accomplished everything it was asked for. More competitive games, newer teams competing for and winning states. BP upset over Norland doesn't happen with previous system. I can't think of one reason to go back to the old system of blowout State title games
To answer one of your questions, that stems from the upcoming classification cycle for the new season in which things are set to change anyway. However, that "emergency" meeting was rushed and chaotic.

Can anyone actually tell me what was decided? From what I got was. 7 classes + 1 rural. And all teams are required to play district games. There was no mention of how many weeks. Will it be a 8 game over 9 weeks. And 2 week district playoffs and everyone else is left to scramble to fill in their last 2 games. Or is it 10 games over 11 weeks and districts like now.
Honestly, I would have to go back and re-watch and from what I saw, I don't believe those details were mentioned in great length.

Just know whatever the correct decisions are, the FHSAA will do the opposite.
They've managed to confuse everyone watching and themselves by taking a simple concept and chopping it to bits. This is painful.

I'm seeing and hearing a lot of "flawed" logic. Not optimistic...

I wonder how much money FHSAA really made by placing this in Tallahassee? The crowds looked smaller, and why can't we just keep it in central Florida between Orlando (universal and WD) and Tampa (BG and Island) so it can be a family outing?
Part of that is a desire to not only host, but bid competitively if multiple applications for sites are offered.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to throw shade on Lakeland, but I would not have been surprised if I had opened up the Coaches Moving Van thread this morning and seen an opening for a new defensive coordinator at either Lakeland or Venice.
Give it some time. Offices don’t open until tomorrow morning, lol.

Playoffs would be based on geographical location. That will help with excessive travel times in the early rounds. The only way Columbus/Holmes County would meet would be if they both made it that far. Given where they are both located, this would most likely be a title match.
