There was no hidden agenda here.  Why start 10 years ago?  ...nice round number.  I actually spoke of Armwood's excellent 2004 team in another post related to this topic.  But why stop at 2004?  Let's go back even further in the decade, when Armwood visited the Muck in the 2000 state semis and beaten by Glades Central 41-15.  No matter how you slice the pie, one can plainly see that Armwood has had a tough time(either losing or winning very tight games) with south Florida teams.   That's probably not a big surprise for most.
And why did I "conveniently" leave out 2010 and 2011 and "disingenuously" list Armwood's "loss" to the Nevada team?  I was simply going by the record books, nothing more and nothing less.  I am not that familiar with all of the circumstances surrounding the forfeiture of those games.  I wasn't willing to assume that five ineligible players on a team had absolutely no impact on Armwood's  performance those seasons, so I did not include those scores.
But let's include them now.   Armwood beat Dwyer on a last-second field goal in 2010.  In 2011, Armwood struggled to win against Central.  If their defense had not made a stand in the fourth quarter, they could have lost that game.  Armwood won both games against Booker T in 2004 and 2005 with last-second scores, and gave up big points in each.  Both of those teams struggled with each other.  For me, a struggle is more than just a big loss.
So, since 2000, Armwood against south Florida teams (oops, I conveniently picked that date, didn't I):
6 losses (5 of 20 points or more and all 14 points or more)
5 wins (3 won in the last seconds of the game, one tough game vs Central, and 1 big win against Booker T in 2003 )
    ...judge for yourself.
As a side note, those years Armwood  beat Booker T,  BT and Armwood were in 4A and BT was not playing the better teams in Dade County.  There were numerous teams in Dade arguably as good or better.  On paper, I had the Armwood teams in 04 and 05 as solid favorites.  And when you looked at the teams, Armwood looked much bigger.  But BT's speed made it very tough.  And now Armwood is facing a school known for its speed.  Check out their track history and you''ll see what I mean.
And finally, I was speaking of Northwestern, not Naples, when I commented previously that Armwood has likely not faced an opponent that fast and physical.  ...fast-look at NW's track dynasty.  ....physical-if you have never been to Liberty City, you wouldn't understand.
    Have a nice evening, all!

Unfortunately, the QB Arguelles is a senior. But Columbus returns most of their playmakers and has a decent dual threat. upcoming QB. They'll be in the mix next year. But this was a tough loss to take. I expected a close one, but to lose with that lead is gut wrenching.
But I can't lay the loss at the feet of that kid. Our kicker missed two relatively easy FGs, and the defense got eaten alive in the second half. Congrats to Miami High for not quitting.

As much as I believe Miami High's offense is lightning in a bottle, I can't remember the last time Columbus blew a game like this or or even close to this .  I am not overly surprised Miami High got the W but I am surprised how it went down...

    6:49 left in 4th
    Columbus 22
    Miami High 28
Columbus in control for most of the half. Two QB scrambles for TD by Arguelles, two missed field goals by normally reliable Maza. One successful 2pt conversion. Columbus D looking impressive, only allowed one large gain by electric Miami High back Jonny Ford (50yds or so). Miami High had some self inflicted wounds though penalties. But aside from the missed FGs, Columbus seems to be firing on all cylinders. Arguelles looked gimpy in final series, hoping it just the cramps that come with a 1:00pm game.
random observation: for such a talented team, I can't believe MH has no one better than Ford to kick punts. He had about three so far that may have totaled 50 yards combined.
3rd quarter, Miami High offense showed some signs of life. Drive still marred by penalties, but MH receivers getting the job done running  5-wide set. Columbus needs to adjust against that. Columbus ball to start Q4 at midfield. QB Arguelles seems to be alright.
10:00 Columbus throws INT, returned inside Columbus territory. Miami High STILL running 5-wide even on the Columbus 1yd line.  Can't blame em, it's working against the Explorer D. MH scores and converts 2-pts. We've got a game!
And like that, Jonny Ford with a great catch. MH QB finding success with the long ball. 2-pat conversion fails but Miami High has all th  momentum. Only 6:00 left.
Again, Miami High showing grit, and the Columbus secondary getting ripped apart. Wide open receiver gets the long ball and walks it in for 28 unanswered points. Miami High now leads by 6 with 3:00 remaining. Columbus driving now with a big catch by Tyler Harrel. Explorers need to air it out. Too conservative on offense this quarter.
Columbus driving with some help from a couple MH penalties. Henry parish took a shot and now out of the game for the Explorers. Columbus at MH  8 yard line with 1:10 left. Kalani Norris with his first major catch. Norris now injured too and limps off field. If Columbus pulls this out, they will need to make some major changes in secondary and need to heal quickly.
columbus QB scrambles to the 1 with 50 seconds on the clock and fumbles. MH sits on it, I have no idea how they avoided the safety on the final three plays. That said, Columbus lost this game at the hands of their much touted D, and some conservative offensive play calling in the 3rd quarter. But credit to Miami High, they overcame some penalties and a sleep-walking 1st half to kill Columbus who could not defend the big play on the 5-wide set. Kudos to the MH coaches for making that crucial adjustment.

Miami Northwestern used its punishing defense to knock off No. 6 Miami Central 21-7 in the first meeting.
The game was for the District 6A-16 title and there was definitely a big-game atmosphere, with former NFL receiver Chad Ochocinco, former NFL running back Najeh Davenport and Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh among the notables on the sidelines.
Northwestern quarterback Tutu Atwell, a Louisville commit, did not disappoint. He threw two touchdown passes and had a touchdown run called back because of a holding penalty.
Atwell’s second touchdown pass, a 52-yard strike to Nigel Bethel, Jr., with 1:46 left in the third quarter, was the clincher as the Bulls’ defense wasn’t allowing much.
Central (10-2) scored its only touchdown with 2:06 to play on a 43-yard touchdown pass from Maurice Underwood to Terrell Perriman.
Northwestern (9-2) took a 14-0 lead in the first half.
Bulls defensive back Divaad Wilson, a Florida commit, set up the first touchdown of the game, picking off Miami Central quarterback Tijuane Morten’s pass. A few plays later, Davonne “Bo” Kendrick sprinted 55 yards for a touchdown to put the Northwestern up 7-0 with 24 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
The Bulls’ second touchdown came from a 9-yard pass from Atwell to Kiaryn Davis with two seconds to go in the first half.
It was the second time in as many seasons that Northwestern defeated Central. Last season, Northwestern defeated Central 45-44 in double-overtime to win the district and end the Rockets’ reign as four-time state champion.

SO I ASK WHO DO YOU THINK WILL BE VICTORIOUS TOMORROW NIGHT AT NATHANIEL TRAZ POWELL STADIUM 7:30PM IN THE SECOND ROUND PLAYOFFS? PINKOS BELIEVE MNW WILL WIN BY 1 IN THE NUMBER ONE GAME IN ALL OF FLORIDA.

Ok, Glad you clarified. Not sure how simply being a democrat is actually an insult.
Just make sure you're not being a needling, beat-a-guy-when-he's-already-down, republican in the mean time.
Not a good look for anybody. NLMAO.

Don't take it to heart Columbia. Most people on this forum think you do a great job. You are obviously a dedicated supporter of your team which is a very good thing and you do have a wealth of useful information to share. I just wish a couple of these people would be as dedicated about their team as they are about finding something to criticize regarding the support you give to your team. Yes, you may be a little over the top at times. However, it's never bothered me and don't see why it bothers some others. Please, keep posting as most of us read what you post.

Ugly, ugly, ugly, game. Better team clearly won tonight, but MNW may have lost one of their top players. And I lost my patience watching all those pink flags.
more yards in penalties than yards gained

I'm thinking Richardson has a concussion. He was in the process of sliding when a Chaminade defender came in head first and knocked him out. He got up shortly after holding his ankle as well. The part that had the Booker side fuming was that there was no flag.

Columbus to pull out a 3-0 record in that 3 game set in 9 days (Miami High, BTW and Lake Gibson ) just exemplifies exactly what you are talking about with Columbus - disciplined.  Not many teams go 3-0 in that set in the entire state.

If I'm not mistaken this roster is young and not even in the same stratosphere as rosters of recent years.  Columbus rarely loses to teams on their level or less, and sometimes beat better teams.  This trend has continued for years under HC Chris Merritt.  I'm impressed but not overly stunned with what Columbus has going right now.  Not sure if this will be the year, but I'm fairly confident Columbus will be back in Orlando over the next few years....

I agree that BTW is not as strong as past years, but I am pleasantly surprised with the way Columbus has been playing since the NW game. That said, Columbus clobbered BTW a few years back and then BTW went on to the 4a championship anyway. They play emotional - Columbus plays disciplined. This BTW team could still take down Cocoa from what I saw of them.
Im chalking this BTW win up to Columbus stepping up (with home field advantage) , and BtW playing inconsistent. Don't read too much into BTW, they still a very talented team.
Columbus is dismantling Lake Gibson right now even though this is their third game in 9 days.
