Actually the Rockledge district isn't too ludacris knowing that they were in that very same type of district before. Check the mid 2000s and 90s. They were in districts that included New Smyrna and Seabreeze as well. Even when I played for Rockledge we had Seabreeze. So it's not far off from the old districts. Only difference is there aren't any Brevard teams in it due to enrollment and no Jones in district
That's the Ludacris part......no local teams and drive to the Daytona area to play all your games....who wants to do that on a Friday afternoon.

some sheer ridiculousness going on
take this one for example
Auburndale 4A 2 7
Jones (Orlando)
Lake Region (Eagle Lake)Lake Wales
now why in the heck would downtown orlando have to travel to the middle of polk county and nowhere.
that is awful, to see lake wales and jones battle, not awful. lots of dudes on the field.
or this one
Forest (Ocala) 6A 2 6
Horizon (Winter Garden)
Lake Minneola
South Lake (Groveland)how in gods name did ocala forest travel all the way to clermont/orlando, passing
this district
Evans (Orlando) 6A 1 4
Lake Howell (Winter Park)
Oviedo
Wekiva (Apopka)the sheer intelligence of the fhsaa seems to be one nobody would understand.
they literally put all the teams in order of attendance records and said ok, yall are kinda close in distance, boom.
the rockledge one with all the daytona schools is just as ludacris
what a joke

Never said I would or mentioned transpor. But it seems like you glossed over the portion where I said to have their district games be teams they normally play already in 1R or pretty much the schedules they've been playing. So with that travel wouldn't be an issue since they are already playing those games and if they aren't able to make it happen then they have the option of going independent.
not gonna lie, i did look over that,
however,
whats the point if they are going to play those teams anyways? why not just let that dog lie and leave the one thing the fhsaa has actually done right for a change....

Need to get rid of Rural and place them in there respective classifications but have it set up to where their districts are the teams they normally played while in 1R and if they don't want that then they can go independent
whos paying for their transportation? you? easy to say do this do that, but if your less than 500 kids in a school whats friday night football gate look like? possibly packed, yes, but those funds pay for most other non revenue sports(swimming, tennis, etc). so a 5 hour bus ride is expensive

I will say this for myself. I am a coach who had to find a way to teach. In my opinion you must be on campus to be an effective head coach. You need to be able to mingle, see the students, recruit the halls. Be there for the students in their time of need. If you are not a teacher or a district employee. How can you be in the halls all day. I teach Auto shop. Im not a college educated educator, who has never been outside the walls. I have seen what reality looks like. I have coached kids from 4years old up. I have dedicated my life to coaching. I really enjoy teaching automotive technology to my students. But the main reason I am there is to be a coach! Unfortunately it also hampers my ability to coach at every school. Only a very few have automotive.
But to answer the question originally asked. If I was an AD. What would I look for in a head coach.
1. Why did you leave your previous job? (If this is your first time as a head coach, why do you think you are ready to make that leap. This will involve a whole different set of added questions) (is this an upward career move? Were you fired? why? )
2. How long were you at your previous job? (do you move around a lot. Can I count on you staying to build/rebuild a program. Or will you be jumping ship for the next latest greatest. Towards your career advancement)
3. What is your vision for this program? (Have you done your research, Do you know the community, do you know the accolades and the pitfalls of the program. Demographics, are these kids you can work with and make successful? )
4. What do you bring to the table? (What sets you apart from all other applicants, What skills or accolades do you have that would make you the best candidate for the job?)
5. Can you assemble a staff? ( who do you know, what is your plan to put coaches in place. Cannot be just rehire the previous staff. But retaining some or all of them could be a benefit if they are good at what they do!
6. How do you handle off season work outs? (what was the prior participation, can you maintain or improve the participation? How will you achieve that? )
7. fundraising!, program budget. (if the coach doesn't ask these questions there may be a big problem, As we all know football programs are not funded by districts, What is your plan, past experience and researched goals for the new program. )
8. Recruiting? ( what have you done, college contacts? how many kids from your previous place obtained scholarships? )
I will continue to edit this post as more thoughts come to mind
I ll ask you questions 4 thru 8......
what are you doing for these things, since you seem to be on the board as a known coach.....
ill wait

So the Poinciana head coach job goes to Tayron Mallard. 25 years old. He was a high school OC for 6 games. This was his first full season as a high school football coach. He volunteered the year before part time. No disrespect to him. But I fail to see how he is ready to take on a high school football program as a head coach. In my humble opinion, the inner workings of a football program go so much deeper than the on field part. He is an alumni and I was told that he knew the kids and that was the reason for his hire.
Again, absolutely no disrespect to him. I truly hope he is successful in continuing what I had started.
youve stated repeatedly, youve moved on.
so let it go, get over it, move on,

Whew!!! My son would never play for some of you coaches. What message are we teaching kids that winning a participation trophy is ok? Teach your child to be the best he can be and sometimes that means playing the best. Ever heard of David and Goliath,,, hell have you heard of Bradford and Norland….
football is not for everyone; that’s why each school has multiple sports. Also what about softball, baseball, swimmming, volleyball, golf, bowling, lacrosse, you do know that most down south schools get a running clock in most if not all these sports. But you don’t hear them complaints, they simply play another sport!
this year we had GEOGRAPHICAL AREA CHAMPIONS. Not
STATE CHAMPIONS,. Any outsider that reads this- We have suburban champions. That really says it all
The State champions means what is says - The “state of Florida” Champions!! Glad we are going back to that model
im simply just laughing at this, because of the most insane thing Ive read today, so far.
you said running clocks in most if not all of these sports
baseball, softball, golf, bowling, volleyball.....SWIMMING!!!
whatever it is that you had to drink to come up with this sheer nonsense, please enlighten the board, we all want to sip on that good good.

part of the proposal won 9-4, and then they dice up the rest of it.
I think they jumped the gun on squashing this new idea, some tweaks to it, but it really wasnt an awful idea with dist tournament in football. trying to find games would be the tall task for those dominate programs. and then finding 2 games if you didnt make the tournament, also an interesting mess.
a solution would be those 2 weeks if your not in, are mandatory district play. have to have 8 team district, which is what everyone really wants, top 4 play for title, bottom 4 figure it out and play.
i thought it was interesting to see they snuck in mandatory bye for everyone week 10 and play dist tourney 11 and 12....so schools would get 2 byes in the season....why? week 10 in florida, no games. smh...
going backwards is A typical of the fhsaa, seriously, eveyrone hated the old way, most hate the new way, others would hate the proposed system.
cant please anyone or shouldnt even try to please anyone, figure it out and stand by it.
maybe the board should be in charge of figuring it all out instead of just knocking holes in the plan. some of them have zero business being on the board anyways.....

2 Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood) 13-0 72.20 26.9
3 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale) 13-1 69.40 36.4
4 Cocoa 13-1 64.60 36.0
5 Norland (Miami) 14-0 63.60 33.3
6 Venice 12-2 58.80 29.4
7 Mandarin (Jacksonville) 11-3 56.30 33.7
8 Buchholz (Gainesville) 13-1 56.30 34.9
9 Central (Miami) 8-4 55.80 43.6This is the top 8(IMG was 1st)....
according to maxpreps rankings, which is what they will be using
thats 8 loaded teams and 4 or 5 state champs and all 8 could possibly win state titles

dont qualify for dist tourney,
scheduling 2 games will be very tough, with kids who may be mentally out of it because they didnt make post season.
lots of teams have rivalry games last 2 weeks of season, to keep some focus in a bad/tough season.
and theroritcally,
you could play the same team 3x
during the season, dist tourney, playoffs(round 2 or beyond).
not that it doesnt happen in nfl, but thats crazy,
-
did the open 32 pass? anyone have any information?
-
not img, but 1st academy. especially with the latest info out there about the "co" coaching situation there. which is total BS, dude brings his whole staff with him, so now there are 2 headers and 2 coaches for all the spots. either that wont work like thye planned or its a total farce to sell the kids their coaches aint leaving.
could easily see the allure of going to TFA for many kids, great facilities, some of the best recruited kids in the area, the real shot at winning a state title.

Thanks for the reporting on these bowl games. As "BAD" as these Osceola county HS teams were this year, obviously there are many schools that are much worse.
after looking at max preps, toho finished with 6 wins and a major shock when I looked was st cloud with 8 wins? regardless of who they played, 6 and 8 wins is alot, compared to others in central florida that would be happy as heck with that many wins.
-
this open deal goes according to plan, distircts but not having to play anyone in there, will see alot of interesting schedules. will be a bit of a nightmare for those trying to find 9 games. play who you want, turns into I want to go 9-1 and be happy with losing in "dist title game" and not making playoffs....
-
playing the hardest sked in the state, doesnt instantly make you tough.
ultimate team sport, if 1/11th of a unit messes up, the entire offesne, defense, special teams loses.
10/11 do their job, fill the appropriate run fits, drop into correct coverage. the 11th misses his gap on his run fit and waterfall downhill effect takes place and the dam has multiple holes in it to be plugged by only a couple hands, it doesnt work like that.
in other sports maybe,
flip side is no different, playing a weaker sked doesnt make things better against a power house. easy blocks vs a weak dl or coverage vs a poor wr does not give you extra confidence vs the stud teams.
double edged sword as previously mentioned.
3 games you will win, 3 games you will struggle but could win , 3 games you will need to play well to even keep it close. and 1 game to keep you humble.
even then it doesnt matter much.

My lofty Projections were justified in my opinion, the thing i had not foreseen is the issues that had plagued their program this year, Their best DB Went out early with a season ending injury. their starting running back suffered a season ending injury. their QB was playing injured for the whole season, since the Hardee county game he has been immobile. their Assistant head coach and defensive coordinator quit after the Hardee county game, Consequently having to move their OC to DC and Move their WR coach to OC. Currently Toho would beat Poinciana probably in a decent game, id say similar to Mulberry game Poinciana just had, which is probably going to be a playoff team in 2s, and Osceola currently would beat Poinciana by 40 They're not the same team they were going into the year, But word on the streets is there could be a possible regular season game with Osceola and Poinciana next season
toho massacres poinciana, like 40+ point beat down. osceola hangs a 50 burger in the 1st half vs poinciana. id venture to say st cloud and harmony beat them down as well,
osceola playing poinciana next year does very little to help them in their quest for the playoffs. if the new system is in play with you dont have to play a district team, it really makes little sense to play them. completely ruins their strength of schedule and the made up fhsaa rankings, which are pretty bogus.
-
poinciana doesnt have enough wins for a bowl game....even though someone said they had the best dbs in the county and the 2nd best qb and 2nd best rbs, 2nd best, 3rd best, 2nd best, best, in everything esle. and said they would go 9 or 10 wins.....good for him his twitter was deleted.....

Bruh getting close to crossing the political line. Please keep your personal politics on the sideline. Obviously he doesn't like unlimited transfers because it becomes a free-for-all where students are no longer students but rent-a-players where funny business runs unabated. It's now not uncommon where a kid transfers in the fall semester for football and then transfers elsewhere in the spring for a different sport. School choice has always been about academics, not athletics. These "school choices" are clearly for athletics, not academics.
I personally also don't like unlimited transfers but maybe a compromise is unlimited transfers to an equal or higher rated school so that it is still about academics? Poorly rated schools who want transfers will then have to put all of their money into improving the academics of their school.
choice is for academic reasons and not for athletics, but its never for academic reasons and always for athletics, 100% spot on. even fhsaa bylaws say that its not allowed or something similar

Who are you to tell a high school player what school he/she has to attend?
not anyone in particular, but that it is in every normal state. someone let the flood gates open with "choice" program. dumbest idea since letting maxpreps figure out who is in the playoffs and as dumb as suburban and metro....

wow, really? you live by school A but travel past 4 schools to get to where you want to go.
you can want in 1 hand and take a dump in the other, which one fills up quicker?
you are part of the problem,
go where your zoned. period.
wanna go past those 4 schools, move.

sit out a year for transferring? that's insane... you cannot penalize a student because he's transferring to another program. maybe the school he is zoned for is on their 4th head coach in 5 years and runs the wing T and hes a pocket QB.... just weight transfers as 1.5 students
whats insane about it? it could help stop the portal from ever opening. the transfer portal in college football has trickled down to HS and kids do this because its allowed.
either were part of the problem or were part of the solution.
stating 4th head coach in 5 years, blah blah, how about go be apart of bringing that school to prominence instead of going to be the 3rd wr in a load spread shotgun team.....
and dont gimmie the "best interets of the kid" crap, college coach sees a kid that stays at a wing t(more of them in america than anything else) offense being a blocking stud at wr and catching several Tds because he is a dude, than changinging schools 3 times in 4 years to "find the right fit" .
how about play at the school where you live and be done. wanna go to xyz school, move.
-
What happend to 10-0?
And the best/#2 dbs in the county?
Think maybe you over estimated your team...

so elijah melendez, cedrick duval, robert lee, brandon rosa, anthony powers, elijah hickson. do these guys discount osceola because theyre not osceola kids theyre all move in and transfers,so go ahead discount them while you at it or is it just a poinciana hate kinda thing is that what you saying my guy.
so 2 of those kids are transfers this year according to Ray
from what I know of osceola(not much)
their homegrown talent is much greater than any move ins or transfers....and for that h8, a move in is a transfer. because thats the right way to do it, not live in 3 counties away and drive over to the school you want to go too. at the least you moved into the school zone to go play.
besides that, you seem very 1 sided in this conversation but you are "mr all osceola county fb". what about the other schools? wasnt there a mass exodus from celebration after the lake gibson guy left? where did they all go? poinciana? what about toho, dont they have alot of transfers from other places too?
should for sure change your name to "poinciana biggest fan" for sure not a representative of the entire county.....

Poinciana's starting dbs are
Ernest Nunn Poinciana kid
Elijah bowser went to Osceola freshman sophomore year played stellar for Poinciana last year
Jaylin Davis Move in from satellite high school
Nathaniel Jeanniton older brother played for Poinciana and a transfer from gateway
overall 3/4 starting DBs at Poinciana would start at every high school in the county
thanks for that info,
literally you stated exatcly what I said,
3 of the 4 kids that are dbs are NOT POINCIANA kids.

Point being, it's a tattered and broken system that needs revamped, considering 2016 was the last time this specific way of doing things was done....
