Perspective reacted to Dan in Daytona in 1996 4A Title Game Video - Bolles vs Bartow
As a side note, the son of my wife's cousin and his new girlfriend came with me to the game. Both were young FSU students from inner city Miami. Fast forward 23 yrs and their happily married, with two children, she's a doctor and he's an Army colonel now serving oversea's. I'm now old and retired, sitting on the couch, shirtless, shoeless, and watching TV (Wimbledon semi-finals)......life moves on in unexpected ways folks. Make the best of it.

Perspective reacted to DarterBlue2 in East Central Florida Top 19 (UPDATED)
Truth of the matter is, the whole I-4 corridor plus Brevard and the counties just north of Tampa should be considered Central Florida. I guess Orlando Metro claims it just because they are also in the middle of the state width wide as well as length wise. But the whole thing is pretty arbitrary.

Perspective reacted to Jags904 in Why is Florida high school offensive play calling so vanilla compared to other states.
The same plays, over and over again, is what I’m saying. Like they just don’t have the guys to belong on the field with you. And I wouldn’t say it’s bad coaching, it’s just not going to beat teams that are similar to you talent wise.

Perspective reacted to Pipe Dreams in 8A North - Quick Analysis & Contenders
8A north has always been one of the most interesting mini-brackets in the state. It used to be 6A north until 2011. Year in and year out there are 5-8 serious state title contenders out of 8A Region 1 and 8A Region 2.
This has been my primary focus since ~2011. I focus primarily on these teams as well as other state contenders from 4A up. Here is my list of potentially lethal playoff contenders as well as potential dark horses, with my top 10 in CAPS. Asterisks given to Top 5

Perspective got a reaction from Cjm04 in 8:30 Start times
I like the idea of August and September games having a later start time (8:00, 8:30). Many times, that's about what time the games start anyway because of weather delays.
But (and not to completely change the subject of this thread), I'm also the guy who thinks Florida ought to go rogue and switch football and basketball seasons . . . play the indoor game when it's hot and stormy outside and then play the outdoor game when the weather in Florida is just right for football. But, I'll save more on that for a later date.

Tampa Plant is scheduled to play Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C. on Sept. 27th. Gonzaga finished the 2018 year ranked 23rd in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25, 35th in the National Ranking and the 2nd rank team in the state (Maryland).

Perspective got a reaction from DarterBlue2 in Lakeland appears fully reloaded for 2019
The problem is that not every school plays by the same rules, at least not in Hillsborough County. In theory, any family can move into a particular school's district and then be able to attend that school. Also, that same family can stay right where they are and their kid still has the right/ability to attend any other school in the district/county, with one major caveat: the school cannot be at or above capacity. So, a school in a less densely populated part of the County with a mediocre academic reputation/ranking, that is not at capacity, can accommodate an unlimited number of transferring students. Whereas a school in a more populated area with a strong academic reputation/ranking, that has been over capacity for years, can only accommodate a transfer if that kid's family moves into the district. And, of course, private schools can do whatever the heck they want to and, thus, can accommodate any kid they want to whenever they want to regardless of where the family lives.
Free agency doesn't work unless all schools are playing on the same, level playing field and that simply isn't the case. My guess is that Lakeland, for example, would see far fewer transfers if kids who want to transfer into Lakeland actually had to move into the Lakeland district. That's not a knock on Lakeland; it's just a reminder that not all public schools are in the same 'boat.' That assumption is based on some quick research that indicates that Lakeland's student population is well below capacity. If I'm wrong on that, please correct me with the right info.

Brothers Andre and Reche Caldwell. Both played at Jefferson High School in Tampa and both went on the play college football at UF. Obviously, Andre played with Denver (along with a couple other NFL teams) and Reche played for the Patriots (along with a couple of other NFL teams).

Looks like Plant wasn't too far behind either. I've got them at 85% (45-8), with regular season losses to Armwood (3) and Colquit Co., and playoff losses to Lakeland (2), STA, and Bartram Trail.

Oooh, I think I know this one without having to do any Internet research: that's Wes Chandler. All-American at UF; All pro with the San Diego Chargers. New Smyrna Beach High School, if memory serves me correct. A lot more accolades that I'm not remembering off the top of my head.

How would a coach at a private school know that "good talent [is] joining the team over the summer" if the kids haven't registered yet?
