Outside of AHP CG & what power house in broward county do you see as a worthy opponent??

we scheduled chaminade for the KOC who were ranked #50 in the entire nation at the time , we lost but held our down in a defensive battle.

before the season Deerfield beach Who was considered a 8A power house with a team full of recruits and transfers and we blew them out and they were predicted by 80+% of the posters to beat us.

we Got STA On the schedule as a district opponent , I just don’t see what else Dillard can do to prepare for a team full of national recruits , this is not a regular team we’re talking about to beat a team like that you have to really have the same type team (recruits) and the same level or above coaching & sometime even that doesn’t help which is why ST FRANCES a team who does exactly what STA does came down here and lost by double digits.

if you ask me the only reason Jesuit won that game is because how quick is was thrown together, if STA had time to fully prepare I would choose STA each time.

I say that to say this with Dillard being the complete opposite of STA it’s no way to really prepare for such a team as them, u just have to go out there and leave it all on the field.

Hey, we are glad to be in 8A instead of 7A because it is difficult for any team to deal with STA any given year.  We have lost to them twice in state finals.  I am sure Venice feels the same way.  However, like many other teams we have state title aspirations and have traveled several hours to schedule worthy opponents.  So your asking me about who to play in Broward county to be competitive, I don't know;  I do know many teams in Miami, Polk county, Tampa, our area, Jax have teams of your caliber if Dillard chooses to step up to those games.  If you look at the top 25 in MaxPreps you would find worthy opponents; check the list out with each of those teams strength of schedule and you will quickly realize Dillard at a 6 is the only team in single digits where most are from 20-50.  And with your up coming games before STA that number is liable to drop even more.

Omg , yea I didn’t look at their ranking we usually never play them I know Larry blustein has hyped them up the last two weeks but I personally haven’t watched any film on them.

Not being critical as you have to play them as a district foe, just like we have to play Windermere HS this weekend and they are ranked almost as low as Nova.  So I'm guessing our game will be 50-0 similar to your outcome if we are being realistic.  No questioning Dillard has a great team and an excellent defense, but outside of Deerfield and STA you are the overwhelming favorite in the other games.  With the track record you guys have had over the past two years, staff should have scheduled several more competitive games to help prepare for STA as it is the money game.

Panthers First Road game Since Week 1 of The Season , Will be taking on the (3-2) Nova Titans ; The Panthers Have Outscored There 5 opponents (196-7) Posting 4 Shutouts, iF panthers can take there full capability on the road this should be a wrap before the half , DILLARD 56 NOVA 3

    what are you guys thoughts @DarterBlue2 @VeniceIndiansFootball @Jullian @nolebull813

Not included in your list so you may not like my opinion, but I would guess 60-0 as Nova is ranked #392 of about 500 HS football teams in the state.

I've realized that Osceola and St. Cloud have claimed their rivalry to be the fifth oldest high school football rivalry in Florida for several years now, but I actually think it's either the third or fourth oldest instead. The reason why I say this is because Sebring and Avon Park, which was considered to be the third oldest rivalry in Florida, ended their rivalry a couple years ago. Anyways, did you know that Hardee vs DeSoto County is the oldest high school football rivalry in Florida? Hardee and DeSoto have been playing each other every single year since 1921, and there were two games played in 1923 and two games played in 1924. So this November 5 will be the 103rd straight game played between Hardee and DeSoto. The second oldest high school football rivalry in Florida is St. Augustine vs Palatka, they have been playing each other every single year since 1922.

No, I actually didn't know who had the oldest rivalry but I would have assumed it would be in one of the major cities, ie.... Tampa, Jacksonville, Lauderdale, Miami, etc..  Very nice to be told it was rural communities like we used to be.  When I first moved to Kissimmee in 1959 and for several decades later we had only two high schools in the entire county; thus the intense rivalry it once was.   Now we have 8 so the rivalry isn't quite what it once was although we did have a real nice crowd at the game last night supporting both teams which is why they still want to play the game.  St. Cloud graduated almost every starter on the offensive side of the ball, thus their struggles this year.

  5. Tonight we played the 98th Edition of this "Rivalry".  Osceola High has played St. Cloud High every year since WWII and for this reason it was played after being cancelled due to Covid earlier on the schedule.   For Osceola it was sandwiched between last Friday's game and this Friday's district game so as not to break the streak.  Props to St. Cloud and their staff for their willingness to come out to compete knowing full well how outmanned they were before the first kick ever took place.  Unfortunately it was predictably one of these games I harp about that isn't a reflection of how good you are but how down the opponent is on the list of FL HS rankings.  It was 42-0 at the half and played under a running clock with a 56-0 final.  No need to bore other forum members with a play by play of the "Great" chunk plays we had as they are nothing to boast about.  It would have been a better scenario for each school to schedule a more competitive opponent for the fans, players, coaches and overall season success.  But to keep the tradition going, this is the end result.  Hopefully, they can rebuild next year and have a better showing for everyone involved as I am sure it will be played for the same aforementioned reasons in 2022.

I took a second look at the score also. What happened to LG?

Especially in light that they were not only favored, but were at home following a big win over Lakeland.  I had similar reaction to the Venice vs Edgewater game, not so much with the winner but the final score as I thought that game would be a toss up.  Still dealing with 16-18 year olds and don't know what you will get week to week.

  7. Waited till this morning to get verification of last night's score between Sarasota Riverview vs Lake Gibson with the Rams winning convincingly 28-7.  With all the bad post thought this may have been reversed but just saw it in the Lakeland Ledger.  Don't think many would have predicted a win by this margin as it looks like the Rams are making progress as the season moves along.   They do have solid coaching and will see how they build on this win.

Florida high over madison ill wait . Madco owns Tallahassee always remember.

Congrats on your win last night young man, no one on this forum gave you the nod in the weekly "Pick 'Em" for week 5.  That said, show a bit of humility with the over the top statements "MADCO owns Tallahassee".   You did lose to Chiles last week and thus the sentiment towards you on this board.  Think about what you are going to say before just blurting it out.  I have always had tremendous respect for what your Cowboys put on the field year after year.  About 15 years ago they came to our place and gave us all we could handle so I know they are for real.

  9. Made a good decision not driving to Bradenton as Manatee self imploded early and it went down from there.  Turnovers, penalties and no chance against our D Line doomed them from the start.  Halftime was 42-0, so we cleared the benches the 2nd half and final 48-7 with a running clock.  Not pretty.  Apopka vs Edgewater as advertised with a real slugfest ending with the Eagles winning 16-7. Noticed an OL lost by Apopka on the first play of the game and don't know how much that may have hurt them offensively.

  10. Lots of interesting matchups this week again as reflected in the Pick 'Em thread.  We travel to Manatee who despite being 0-3 is still a game our kids need to take seriously as their losses are to Gulliver Prep, Lakeland and Palmetto.  As previously mentioned, a record is not the only indicator of a quality team but the opponents faced.  Beating someone 50-0 on the surface may seem impressive, but in reality it is just sad and no cause for beating one's chest.  At my age, I may not travel to Bradenton but instead check out one of the premier matchups in our area tomorrow which is Apopka vs Edgewater; especially in light of the fact that both myself and Darter have thrown props to running back CJ Baxter.  It may have been seen at the time just hyperbole, but the Orlando Sentinel reported this morning he just added to his list of offers:   ALABAMA!    Nuff Said.

Jambun, why did you think the hypothetical was about you?   Yeah, there's an old expression that if the shoe fits, wear it.  But the hypothetical was simply intended to point out yet another unintended (presumably) consequence of the legislators' actions.   Pointing out the things that might happen (and things which are happening) as a result of legislative changes is a classic way of pointing out the flaws of potential or existing legislation.  So, if either were still alive, I think Darrow and Bailey would be just fine with what I wrote.  ;)

You opted to put your opinion out there for the world to see.   I respect that and I respect your opinion.  I just happen to disagree with it.

Surprised he hasn't offered you an autograph, but then again he may have done that sometime in the past.

I will readily admit that I have not done any research on this. However, if your research is accurate and complete, it seems like an error to me. Sarasota and Edgewater are 3-1 each for a winning percentage of .75. Cocoa is 2-1 for a winning percentage of .67 (all three taken from MaxPreps since they are the record keeper). Therefore, it seems that the second .35 should be multiplied by about .73 (rough approximation) and not 1.

I have always been uncomfortable with the current system as once complexity is introduced unless there is diligence, errors are likely to abound.

With that said, I am sure Venice probably has the top RPI in the state at this juncture. However, one wonders whether teams have not been helped/penalized by errors in the past.

That is why winning the district is more important so you at least get one playoff game at home guaranteed.  If I am not mistaken this RPI then determines the next playoff games.  Last year we were on the road for 3 of the 4 prior to championship games so it does make one suspicious.

Well, duh!   Player movement will simply lead to greater disparity between the "have" teams and the "have not" teams, which will lead to more blow-out games.  And running clock in the second half of games means the game officials get to go home early.   :P

(Wife to husband wearing a white hat:  "What time will you be home tonight, dear?"  Ref responds:  "Well, I've got STA vs. Hallandale tonight, so I should be home by 9:00 . . . and probably won't even need to shower before going to bed.").  :D

You seem to be re-enforcing my suspicions about my "friend" Jambun.

Are you surprised?  Orange County isn't the flagship in the state of Florida.  Did you expect better results OOS?

    Not surprised, just disappointed. Lol

That fact I can agree with overall.  I always have viewed central Florida in general as the "soft belly" of the state when it comes to football compared to Polk, panhandle and south FL in particular.

    That’s 20-39-2

horrible. And this isn’t just the Disney event playing garbage teams. Flagship programs like Apopka, Edgewater, Dr Phillips and Bishop Moore are a combined 2-11.

Without knowing the quality of the opponent, home vs away in these losses especially for what you refer to as Flagship programs means nothing.   Based on your "STUDY" of Orange county teams the implication is those teams with a winning record should be rated better, ie. East River, Trinity Prep and Windermere Prep which is asinine.  For instance, I could point to a team Lake Gibson using your formula and say an 0-2 team is horrible and has no chance against a powerhouse like the Dreadnaughts and how did that turn out?

Is there anything else that you would like to add Ray? I know how much that you enjoy talking with me on this message board, so do you have any questions?

Have no clue what would possess you to ask this question.  But based on your post it looks like you have our roles reversed on this board.

Miramar wins their 1st game of season by defeating south broward 34-12. Here's to learning from their mistakes, and get better to make the playoffs. #ProudAlum. #GoMiramar.

Congrats to Miramar as you seemed to have a very good team based on your record; both losses to what are considered elite teams and each by a single possession.  Definitely bodes well for the games that lie ahead, so  good luck going forward.
